50 years ago, Roger Woodward had an extraordinary experience. As a seven year old boy he was swept over the Niagara Falls - and lived to tell the tale.

The falls - which are on the border between the United States and Canada - are a major tourist attraction.

Torrents of swirling water drop 160 feet, throwing up huge clouds of spray.

Roger's father had moved to the area to work, taking his wife and children with him.

On that fateful day he gave permission for the children to take a boat trip.

Roger was in a boat with his 17 year old sister Deanne and a family friend called Jim Honeycutt, when the three of them got into trouble.

Roger Woodward spoke to Matthew Bannister and described his extraordinary survival and the dramatic rescue of his sister, Deanne Simpson Woodward.
