Space enthusiast Robert Harrison from Yorkshire in Northern England has managed to take extraordinary images of Earth. He did so using a cheap digital camera in a box suspended from a small helium-filled balloon.

When the balloon burst, a parachute brought the camera down to earth, and thanks to a tracking device Robert was then able to retrieve the camera.

Robert told Roger Hearing how he developed the balloon idea after trying to find a way to take aerial photos of his home.

The amazing photos show the curvature of the Earth and the blackness of space.
