Kevin Richardson is sometimes known as the 'lion whisperer'.

The South African is a self-taught expert on animal behaviour who has an extraordinary ability to get very close to lions, jaguars and hyenas.

He is able to get close enough to them to even put his arms around the animals and to roll on the ground with them.

His technique is to hand-rear the animals at his wildlife conservation park near Johannesburg, and to maintain a very close bond with them as they become fully-grown predators.

Kevin came into the Outlook studio to talk to Matthew Bannister about his methods and to explain what he means by a "lion sandwich".
