Norwegian adventurer Cecilie Skog and her husband Rolf Bae travelled the world together climbing the world’s highest and most formidable mountains.

The couple were especially drawn to K2 in the Himalayas, the world’s second highest mountain.

Reaching the summit of K2 is a challenge which many believe is tougher and more physically demanding than Everest, but Cecilie and Rolf were not deterred.

After failing to reach the summit in 2005 because of poor weather conditions, they decided to try again in August 2008 along with third team member Lars Flato Nessa.

But tragedy struck when a hanging glacier broke off and cut their ropes. Cecilie watched Rolf fall to his death. Ten other climbers from different expeditions also died that day.

Cecilie hasn’t felt able to climb a mountain since then but she told Matthew Bannister that despite her heartache she has continued with other adventures.
