Leslie Jenkins and her husband Brian have faced the ultimate test of any parent’s love.
Growing up in rural Ontario, Canada, they were childhood sweethearts who married and had two children – a son called Mason and daughter called Jennifer.
But in January 1998 they came home to a dreadful scene, discovering the body of their eighteen-year-old daughter Jennifer.
She had been shot five times. Her brother Mason had killed her.
Over the next few weeks Leslie and Brian found out from the police that Mason had forged their wills, making himself the sole beneficiary. So not only had he killed Jennifer but he had been planning to kill his parents too.
Despite the disapproval of many in their community, Brian and Leslie have stood by Mason – both during the trial and in the years since he was found guilty of his sister's murder.
Their story has been told in a documentary film called Life With Murder.
Leslie Jenkins spoke to Outlook’s Matthew Bannister and she began by telling him about the day she and her husband came home and found Jennifer's body.
