Memories of a father

In January of this year the Governor of Punjab in Pakistan, Salman Taseer, was shot dead by one of his own bodyguards.
News of the murder provoked many different emotions in his estranged son, the novelist Aatish Taseer.
Aatish was born in 1980 as a result of an affair between Salman Taseer and an Indian journalist. He was brought up in India by his mother and didn't meet his father until he went to Pakistan to seek him out when he was twenty-one.
Aatish told Outlook's Matthew Bannister about his memories of his father - a man he describes as having an "unsinkable" quality as a person and having something indestructible about him.
He last saw his father on the day of Benazir Bhutto's assassination - a day when he remembers his father trying to fight back the tears.
Aatish also told Matthew about his shock when his father was murdered and his horror at the way some people reacted to it in Pakistan.
