Bollywood Star Shilpa Shetty talks to Outlook

The Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has talked to Outlook about 'life after Big Brother'.

"I did Celebrity Big Brother without knowing what I was getting into," she told the 大象传媒's Ritula Shah, "I really thought that I was only going to cater for the Asian audiences.

"I had no idea that the people here in Britain would like me - and I had no idea that it was going to make me an international celebrity."

Shetty won Britain's Channel 4 reality TV-show earlier this year, after a controversial series in which some of the other contributors were accused of racism.

"I was so sick and tired of it at the end of it all," she said, "Not for a second do people realise that I didn't really enjoy the success."

Shah asked Shetty about her home life - specifically about the fact that she's still unmarried at the age of 31.

"I'm a good-looking 31," she said, "I guess I haven't found reason enough to get married.

"I believe in the institution. For me that would have to be 'it!'. I would want it to last forever.

"For me to jump into that would be a very very big move and the man would have to be 'something else!'"

Shetty also explained why it was easier for her to still be living with her parents.

"Where I come from I believe it's important to give respect to your parents and I eulogise them," she said.

"I live with them out of choice. I could well live away - in a different home - I can afford to do that, but no it's a selfish motive that they handle everything for me and it makes life so much easier for me."

Shetty's mother works as her manager.

"I like her to be part of the financial decisions because she's a hard nut to crack," she said, "I tell you I'm a terrible negotiator. I'm such a sucker for sob stories."

Despite this Shetty said that she's soon to appoint an agent because her success had led to increased workload for her mother.

She was in London promoting her new film Life in a... METRO in which plays a bored housewife who has an affair.

Do you still live at home at the age of 31? Do you share Shilpa's trust in her parents?
