We regularly run or attend public events for writers across the UK and online.

Its ethos of being writer-driven, cross industry, personal and passionate means it needs to connect and be relevant to these incredible storytellers of our time.

Our writers' festivals began with the TV Writers' Festival in 2010, which has since taken place in Leeds and London. We have also run free writers' festivals, open to the general public, in Glasgow and Cardiff.

We also run events specifically for writers who have entered our opportunities and reached the longlist. Find out more below.

In autumn 2023 we ran a live event at the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Radio Theatre in Broadcasting House London with the writer Jesse Armstrong (Succession, Peep Show) quizzed about his career by John Yorke. The invited audience comprised members of our development groups and writers who had applied to our opportunities and reached the longlist stage.

The TV Writers' Festival

Starting in 2010 our TV Writers' Festival is curated by writers for writers. The festival is a mix of masterclasses, conversation and debate aimed at - and created for - working television writers.

For its first four years the festival was held at the Leeds College of Music while in 2014 and 2016 it moved to Central St Martins new campus in London's Kings Cross, with the support of Drama Centre London and Central Saint Martins' new MA Dramatic Writing.

In 2017 and 2018 the festival moved to  in East London. In 2017 the day kicked off with writer Danny Brocklehurst interviewing ´óÏó´«Ã½ Director of Content Charlotte Moore and culminated in a keynote Q&A with Hans Rosenfeldt, the writer of The Bridge and ITV's Marcella.

For 2018 the festival was renamed 'The TV Writers' Festival', including Comedy for the first time. It began with Charlotte Moore being interviewed by Bodyguard and Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio (including audience questions) and the day ended with a keynote Q&A with Steven Moffat.

Festival chairs have included Tony Marchant, Paula Milne, Peter Bowker, Jack Thorne, Emma Frost, Tony Jordan and Kay Mellor.
