is excited to launch Scratch Club - a brand-new series of scratch nights giving an opportunity to anyone who would like to be a playwright to see their work performed live in front of an audience. They will be teaming up with Porter’s in Cardiff, where the event will take place in the evening of Saturday, 31st May, 2025.
They’re looking for short plays responding to the theme ‘The Beginning’. Plays must be no longer than 10 minutes (roughly 10 pages). Your script must be your own original work and must not have been professionally performed. They’re looking for self-contained short plays, rather than excerpts from a longer piece.
They welcome submissions from writers currently living in or local to the Cardiff area. Please note that the team are limiting this to those writers who would attend the Scratch Club event if their work was selected to be performed.
How to submit
- Write your script! Don’t worry too much about formatting on the page, as long as it is clear who is saying what.
- Email your script to scriptclubcdf@gmail.com as a Microsoft Word document or PDF by 22nd March 2025.
- Please ensure your script does not have your name within the document or file name as the scripts will be read anonymously for the selection process.
- Please do therefore make sure to include in the covering email: your name (or, if there’s more than one writer, your names), your script title, and your contact details (phone and email address at least).
- As mentioned above, please also make sure you would be able to attend the evening if your piece is selected.
- We’re limiting this event to one submission per writer.
- There’s no fee to submit or be involved in Scratch Club
for announcements about ticketing and the plays that get selected.
