Our Mission
50:50 The Equality Project is committed to inspiring and supporting the 大象传媒 and organisations around the globe to consistently create journalism and media content that fairly represents our world.
The initiative, started in the 大象传媒’s London newsroom in 2017, uses a methodology that is rooted in data, creativity and practicality to fundamentally shift representation across the 大象传媒’s content.
50:50 is a simple system for busy content-makers to monitor their on-air diversity data in real time. Teams input data every day or every week and then publish it internally every month. The 50:50 team analyses it to chart progress both by engagement but also increasing the number of women represented in content. It’s not monitoring workforce. Many teams also monitor their ethnicity and disability representation on air as well.
