Albums Of The Year
6 Music's presenters share their favourite albums of 2007...
Adam Buxton: Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
'They're from Austin Texas and they've been around for ages, I think they were even on tour with Nirvana at some point... It's just a fantastically inventive pop LP with a sort-of art sensibility and that's my favourite kind of music.'

Chris Hawkins: Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
'In what's been a good year for albums, lots of them British, I'm actually going for a Canadian septet... It features a pipe organ, a hurdy gurdy, a military choir and a full Hungarian orchestra. What's not to like?'

Clare McDonnell: Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
'The lead singer with one of the biggest rock bands in the world ever teams up with the singer who's scooped the highest number of Grammy awards ever by a female artist. On paper a winning combination - and on vinyl too.'

George Lamb: Kings Of Leon - Because Of The Times
'They're a band I've been into for many years... I think it's a real credit to a band when they're putting out consistently strong music. This is their third album and it is just as good as, if not better than, the previous two.'

Gideon Coe: Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog
'It's a selection of 12 songs that all stand up to listening over and over again. The playing is great, the singing is beautiful and I can't wait to hear what he does next. Needless to say if he ever gets really popular I'll drop him like a stone!'

Guy Garvey: Stephen Fretwell - Man On The Roof
'I've known Stephen for many years - I'd like to say I discovered him, but that wouldn't be true - it was a friend of mine called Gary. His name - Fretwell - for somebody who's so good at the guitar is ridiculous.'
Joe Cornish: Gruff Rhys - Candylion
'This is a fantastic album. Yeah, I like it - that's good enough reason to play it, isn't it?'

Jon Holmes: REM - Live
'I have to say that I've never actually seen REM live. I had tickets once, but then like an idiot I'd double-booked myself. What a fool. So this album is the next best thing to doing that.'

Liz Kershaw: Fields - Everything Last Winter
'I love this record because it's a long player in its proper sense. There's no track that sticks out - it's got a theme throughout, it's got a quality throughout and it's got a mood throughout. The minute you put it on you just feel all summery.'

Marc Riley: Fiery Furnaces - Widow City
'It's an album that will stay with me for life, I'm absolutely sure of that. Like all great albums there are parts of it that take a lot of getting used to. But get used to it - believe me, it's worth it. Caution, genius at work!'

Natasha: Foo Fighters - Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace
'It's a strong contender for worst title of the year, but actually a truly fantastic LP. No surprises on there, no tricks, just everything that a Foo Fighters fan wants to hear. As an enormous fan myself, it doesn't disappoint.'

Nemone: Klaxons: Myths Of The Near Future
'It was such a difficult choice - PJ Harvey, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Simian Mobile Disco, QOTSA and Feist all could have been there. But this has been the soundtrack to so much of the year and will always remind me of 2007.'

Shaun Keaveny: Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
'At my advanced age you can get a bit bored of indie-by-numbers. This is the ultimate antidote to that. It's that wonderful confluence of an LPÂ beautifully conceived, played and produced. And Jeff Tweedy's voice on it is just sublime.'

Steve Lamacq: The Maccabees - Colour It In
'They're just very good at turning odd parts of British life into a song. They write songs about Lego and swimming pools but somehow still manage to use these very everyday things as centres to explore how we all act and react to each other. I think that's pretty clever.'

Tom Robinson: Slovo - Todo Cambia
'I decided to go for Slovo as a record I've owned most of the year and still haven't tired of. They're a band that wears its political heart on its finely embroidered musical sleeve.'
