The 大象传媒 Trust has today published its workplan for 2010/11.

The Trust's activities over this period will continue to build on its existing work to reshape the 大象传媒 in the interests of licence fee payers.

大象传媒 Trust Chairman Sir Michael Lyons said:

"The Trust has set itself an ambitious agenda of planned activities for 2010/11 which we believe will make the 大象传媒 even stronger, and will ensure that the public can be confident that the 大象传媒 is being run in their best interests.

"In the coming year, we will continue our drive to ensure that the 大象传媒 offers high quality and distinctive programming and that it provides excellent value for money, through a number of major editorial, service and value for money reviews.

"Most importantly the Trust will report on the results from the wide ranging strategy review which it is currently testing and consulting on, which is aimed at developing a clear statement of the 大象传媒鈥檚 vision, strategy and mission to deliver its public purposes."

Key Trust projects over the next 12 months include:

  • The strategy review. The Trust asked the DG to conduct a review of what the 大象传媒 should concentrate on in the future. It is currently considering his proposals and expects to publish a final strategy in the autumn.
  • Value for money review on continuing drama. This will assess the management of the production of continuing dramas such as Eastenders, Holby City, Casualty and Doctors.
  • The service review of Radio 3, 4 and 7 will begin and the Trust will publish the findings of its review of 大象传媒 One, Two, Four and the Red Button.
  • Impartiality review of the 大象传媒's science coverage and output. The Trust will engage with licence fee payers, industry experts and the scientific community as part of this review.
  • Review of the complaints framework. The Trust oversees the 大象传媒's complaints processes and this year plans to carry out a review of the complaints framework to ensure that it is working in the best possible way for licence fee payers.

The Trust will report on progress against the workplan and priorities for 2010/11 in the 2011/12 大象传媒 Annual Report.

As in previous years, the Trust will report progress against specific projects contained in the workplan throughout the year on its website and via communications activities. Its updates will include editorial appeal findings, results of public value tests and the findings of service licence and value for money reviews.

The workplan outlines the main planned areas of work the Trust is planning to undertake under the three aspects of the role set out in the 大象传媒's Royal Charter. These are: responsibility for stewardship of the licence fee and the 大象传媒's other resources; upholding the interests of licence fee payers within the 大象传媒 and effectively promoting the 大象传媒's public purposes.

Ends.
