Find out more about Rewind and indulge in our 80s pop gallery! Stars from the 80s 22.08.09 - 23.08.09 | Temple Island Meadows | Henley-on-ThamesTake a trip back to the 80s and find out more about our 80s stars here: The first ever 80s revival festival is launching in Henley this August, with your favourite shoulder-padded pin-ups from the "coolest decade" providing two days of pure nostalgia. Called Rewind Festival, everyone from Rick Astley and Nik Kershaw to Kim Wilde and Belinda Carlisle are sure to transport you back into a world of feather cuts, New Romantic clobber, fluorescent make-up and synths. Belinda Carlisle Festival organiser David Heartfield thinks the time is ripe for Rewind to take place. "I think everybody's hit an age where everything that was a hit in the 80s is suddenly coming back. We've got recessionary time, I think everybody's fed up of the doom and gloom around, so it's time to get dressed up, put shoulderpads on and go back out and enjoy yourself." Recently voted the coolest decade of the last 50 years, the 80s revival has in recent years seen repeats, remakes and sequels to a string of popular films and TV shows. Harrison Ford returned as Indiana Jones and Sylvester Stallone has made new Rocky and Rambo films. David says it's now the turn of the music industry with an entire festival devoted to the music of the decade, which will see the biggest line up of 80s artists since Live Aid 23 years ago. Nik Kershaw "We do shows all over the country and we've done a couple of shows with some of the line-up and they've always been fantastically well receieved," he says. "We decided now was the time to put an enormous roster of artists together." Rewind, which hopes to attract 20,000 80s fans, will form part of a string of festivals already happening in the area this summer. It takes place on Saturday 22 August and Sunday 23 August 2009, alongside the Henley Festival and Reading's new Heavenly Planet festival, both taking place in July, while the mighty Reading Festival is on a week after Rewind. "It takes a lot of time to put these artists together, we've been working on it for about five or six months," says David. "Getting acts to come over from America always takes a little bit of persuasion so we're thrilled that Gloria Gaynor is coming and Sister Sledge." In addition to the main stage line up, the festival will include a host of other entertainment from funfairs and fireworks to 80s discos and The Comedy Store tent. The family-friendly festival offers camping as well as glamping (glamorous camping – tents already erected for your arrival). Boats can also be moored alongside the site. Tickets range from £40 for a day tickets to £95 for weekend plus camping.
