Lord Deremore鈥檚 Primary School 鈥 North Yorkshire, England

The children at Lord Deremore鈥檚 decided to take quick action after learning that wild hedgehogs are on the red list. The students turned their school into a place where hedgehogs could live and thrive.

Year 6 students planted trees and created a huge 鈥榙ead hedge鈥 from old branches and twigs. This has helped create a peaceful place for hedgehogs to live in with lots of log piles and hedgehog houses.

The efforts have not gone unnoticed by their hedgehog friends though! Since starting the project, the team has managed to rescue 6 poorly hedgehogs. Well done Lord Deremore鈥檚 Primary school!

The Marine Marvels take on many projects, such as a writing competition where they asked pupils to create a 鈥榙iary of a single-use plastic item鈥. These diaries tell the stories of plastics such as balloons, plastic bags, Sellotape and crisp packets. The winning entries will even have a film made about their story!
