Although the Brandenburg Concertos are very important to Western Europe's musical heritage today, this was not the case when Bach wrote them. In fact, the concertos were only performed for the first time in 1849 after being rediscovered.

These days they are often performed and are greatly loved. The complete Brandenburg Concerto works were performed over two concerts at the 2018 大象传媒 Proms - as they have been many times before.

J.S. Bach is the composer with arguably the biggest impact on music that followed, with many top conductors, composers and performers who all name him as their biggest influence.
