The History Boys is a play written by Alan Bennett. It was first performed in 2004, at the National Theatre in London. It was also made into a successful film.

  • There is a photograph of the boys at school. Hector is not in it, but the Headmaster is. The boys are unimpressed.
  • Mrs Lintott speculates on the perception that Hector was unlucky to be seen by the Headmaster’s wife. Hector confesses he is to leave and why, and tells Irwin not to be a teacher. Mrs Lintott comes out from the Head’s office and tells Irwin he is to be offered her job when she retires. She also addresses Hector's attempted justification for his behaviour with the boys.
