The Northern Ireland Beef and Lamb Food Quality Assurance Scheme (NIBL FQAS)

Food Quality Assurance logo

This scheme aims to assure consumers that famers have met very high standards in rearing their beef and lamb, and that these same high standards are continued through the processing stage until the beef and lamb reaches the fork of the consumer.

It assures consumers that the beef and lamb they are purchasing is the product of high quality farms. This means that the farmer cares for the welfare of the animals, protects the environment and that the meat is free from any unnatural substances.

Product standard is taken very seriously. This includes the following criteria:

  • animal welfare
  • animal health
  • animal nutrition
  • animal traceability
  • animal housing
  • animal transport
  • environmental care
  • farm procedures

When you see the Farm Quality Assurance logo on beef and lamb you know that it is of the highest standard.
