Jesus predicts Peter’s denial (Mark 14: 27–31)

Jesus was having a conversation with the disciples and he made a number of predictions. Firstly, he predicted that when he died, the disciples would run away, “I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered.”

Secondly, he predicted his , “after I have risen I will go ahead of you to Galilee”. But the disciples failed to understand what he was telling them.

Thirdly, he predicted that Peter would deny him three times, “I tell you that before the cock crows twice tonight, you will say three times that you do not know me.”

Peter was indignant and shrugged off the suggestion that he would be disloyal. He argued that he would be prepared to die with Jesus, and the rest of the disciples said they would face death too.
