Making three-digit numbers
Description
How to make three-digit numbers, starting with one number and placing another next to it in order to make a new number. For example, 3, 33, 333.
Classroom Ideas
This clip can be used as part of a lesson on place value. The clip can be shown and, at each stage, paused and pupils asked to state the value of the newest three which has been added. To ensure all pupils understand, some can be chosen to explain why they think the same number can have a greater or lesser value depending on which position it is placed.
