Measurement - rulers and thermometers

Description

An archaeologist uses a ruler to measure a piece of leather. He measures using centimetres and tenths of centimetres. The leather measures 3.3cm. A thermometer is set out in intervals of tenths of a degree and records a temperature of 27 degrees.

Classroom Ideas

Students could be given a range of different measuring equipment such as weighing scales, measuring jugs and rulers. Students could identify the scale on these and decide which piece of equipment is most appropriate to accurately measure a series of objects and liquids.
