LAST CHANCE FOR SONG WARS CLASSICS

Post categories: ,听

James Stirling (6 Music) James Stirling (6 Music) | 12:00 UK time, Saturday, 22 August 2009

Phew - we're nearly there. The final week of Classic Song Wars allows the boys the luxury of picking their wild card tunes - those that defied categorising or were simply too powerful to be constrained by the format of Song Wars. As ever, the podcast has the tears of laughter and joy stories behind the making of these magical musical moments. And who wouldn't want to know how songs about flu and stumbling on the radio came about? Plus as a bonus there's a previously unreleased track from Dr Buckles as radio pirates meet the cuddly vermin in Ratatouille.

VITAMIN C, Oh how happy I will be :D

I like the Songwars sandwich we've got going on, with 3 songs :O

thank you for posting the um and er song, when i was listening to the original podcast on my way home from work on the train it made me laugh so hard that the only other man in that carriage got off at one station (where there is a strange 10 minute stop after 9pm) and got back on the train in the next carriage along. which of course made me laugh even harder. i guess a tiny man shaking, sqeaking and weeping into his scarf could be a little unsettling. now i can have it pop up whenever i've got my songs on shuffle to make me startle more unsuspecting passengers

  • Comment number 5.

Can you put all of the Song Wars downloads on one post/page so I can direct folks to the funny?

  • Comment number 9.

Man, are these the last ones? I was really hoping we would get the Australia ones too. I loved those ones. It's what got my girlfriend listening to Adam and Joe.

  • Comment number 10.

Don't worry, we will be making more Song Wars tracks available on a fairly regular basis, watch this space.

    James,

Any chance of compiling them all into one awesome downloadable album, with cover art and everything? Song Wars Vol. 2 please...

.......not sure where to put this but does Adam know someone is faking him on Twitter?

  • Comment number 14.

Yes, in the one of the older podcast Adam feebly attempted (in the nicest possible way) to become part of the twitter community , in the porcess of making a twitter account he realised someone was using his name, so he used a different one or stuck a one at the end. Anyway, at the end of the story Adam Buxton decided to give up and run away from the twitter community because he apparently made a bit of an idiothole of himself. I would expect that Adam doesn't really care if this guy is impersonating, and the more people who think Adam is still "Twittering", the less know he ran away.

  • Comment number 15.

I should have said 'a new one' that started a couple of days ago. I think most people know it's fake because it only has a few followers. It's first tweet says something like 'I thought I'd try this twitter lark again' but follows the usual fakers format. Just thought Adam should know there's another one out there.

The CornGod may be interested to know that a band called 'Ex Lovers' have a singer who sounds just like him. Check out and the tracks 'Photobooth' or 'The Moon Has Spoken'.

I'm supposed to be reviewing their efforts for the web site Die, Shellsuit, Die! but I can't get the fact that he sounds like Joe out of my head. Most disconcerting.

Hello Adam and Joe - could we have a downloadable version of Dr Buckles' fantastic fish-fingers song? It would be a lovely addition to my iPod!

Love the show and that. Many thanks!

Pretty unrelated but a really good fun thing you can try with a mic, a computer and some recording software.

    - Record yourself saying something
    - Reverse it
    - Learn in backwards
    - Record backwards
    - Flip it back

You get some very wonky voices. It's been done before of course I know but Id love to hear adam and joe having a go.

You can also do the same sort of this with speaking SLLLOOOOWWLLY & LOWLEY and speeding it up or speaking REALLY FAST AND HIGH and slowing it down. This is a bit easier to do so start with this one.

I like to hear a whole song done like this... song wars backwards.

Or just SPEAKING WARS?! Who sounds the least wonk-o!
    Pete

I have lots of proper CDs full of wonderful music, but since I started listening to Adam and Joe, my head has been full of Bums and Binge-drinking and Ratatouille. Currently, my brain is endlessly repeating the words "A-wuzza wuzza".
I am thrilled your fuller-length podcasts are back: Song Wars Ccqlassixques was great, but it's even more exciting to have them accompanied by other items, such as Boggins the Talking-Dog and your personal tales of pain and embarrassment.
