Fantastic! Looking forward to the show (not that I wasn't looking forward to it already before this blog post...). I love Emmy's work and it will certainly be nice to hear what a feminine touch brings to the Mixtape.

My favourite chill cake at the moment is The Postal Service's album "Give Up". Perfect for unwinding on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Mixes some nice generally upbeat electronica with the great vocal work of Ben Gibbard.

Question for Emmy the Great:
I think your voice has a similar tone to Rickle Lee Jones and you have a similar 'oddness' to your tunes (which is a good thing!)....Are you influenced by or a fan of hers at all?

Emmy, I think you're really great. I probably would call you 'Emmy the Great' even if you didn't. So my question really is would you like to come hang out some time because you're really pretty great.

Failing that, what DVD boxset are you currently into? Your album makes references to 24 and Friends, I wonder if there's a new one in your life, of the life of someone close to you...

1. Will you be touring soon, if so, whereabouts will you be stopping off?
2. Will there be any sort of special collaboration on the next album?

Uberfan question: In the song 'Snow' you created a language to describe how bored you were and then speak some of the language, were you actually saying something there or just randomly making funny little noises for the fun of it?

Also, here's some chillcake suggestions.

To start with you could use Crazy Tuesday or Idle Lover by thenewno2. The band's frontman is Dhani Harrison, son of the Beatle George, which is a fact I'm sure you can weave skilfully into your show.

Reel Big Fish have some nice and chilled covers, my personal fave is their version of Oingo Boingo's We Close Our Eyes (from the tribute album Dead Band's Party), but they've also done Talkin' Bout Revolution, The Long Run and Won't Back Down.

The Kaiser Chiefs have two good B-Sides from their Good Days Bad Days single, Acting Up and Addicted to Drugs - Appendix 1, the latter of which is a chilled version one of the songs from their third album.

Jonathan Coulton did a remarkably chilled cover of Baby Got Back.

Pike St./Park Slope and What You Live By by Harvey Danger are good, although they might be a little too chilled for you.

My last suggestion is Strange News From Another Star by Blur. I hope even if you don't play these on the show you enjoy listening to them!

On The Beach - Neil Young. (you *have* to play that surely? But I'm sure you already thought of it, don't worry we'll say it was your idea man)

Although I like Will having suggested a bit of Radiohead, I can't help but think those particular two aren't completely 'chill cakey'. 'How to disappear completely (and never be found again)' would be perfect; for a certain kind of mellow though perhaps... maybe not the kind you're after.

Brilliant show Buckminsterfullerene. Great to have you back at the weekends. I too was a fan of making compilations as a teen, often badly recorded over tapes I had lying around. Often fragments of German listening homework or something like that would pop up between the songs.

Excited to hear Emmy the Great is your next guest. I had the pleasure of seeing her last week at the Barbican. She sang with an all female Mariachi band, including a woman with the biggest guitar I've ever seen (It was like a double bass round her neck). Fun night, but I was wondering if you could ask Emmy how she got involved? Not the most obvious connection to make between her music and Mexicanas trilling in spangly jackets?

I'm green with envy Stu Bell. I would have loved to see them live. And your retro comment makes perfect sense too. I know it seems a bit weird but I always thought they suffered because their drummer was also their lead singer. I think the business couldn't get their heads round that if that makes any sense. They should have been huge and if you pop over to the new thread about funny songs I'm mentioning them again.
