100 objects in five minutes

Post categories:

Paul Sargeant Paul Sargeant | 17:21 UK time, Friday, 22 October 2010

So that's it. That's all 100 objects. All finished. Two million years ofÌý human history in just 100 things that our ancestors made and left behind.

So which was your favourite object? You can't remember? Well luckily for you we have something to nudge your memory.

For those of you struggling to think as far back as the clovis spear point or King Den's sandal label, here is a reminder for you. Allow us to present: A History of the World in Five Minutes.

Lots of trails on the radio saying we can download all the episodes of this excellent series. I want to do so for my children to listen to, but there seems to be no option to download them all. I can't beleive one has to do 101 'save as' commands. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    David

Probably the best series on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 4 (or any station) I have ever heard. Well done. I look forward to re-reading and looking at all the information and stories that were revealed to me.

This series has been thought provoking, inspiring, joyful, beautiful and one of the best things the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has ever done. It is wonderful to see 2 great British institutions collaborating to produce something so stunningly good and innovative. Thank you to all involved.

Well, we've reached the end and there's bound to be a number of objects that people agree or disagree with (I know I do). So I guess that there's no choice but for "A History of the World in 100 More Objects" to go immediately into production!

Considering the number of objects in the gallery I suspect we could have 100 more series and still not run out of objects to talk about.

@David Goodwin: Download iTunes and search for this podcast. It will show all 100 episodes and you can just click on "Get All", and that should do it. Enjoy!

@Paul: Very unique show, reminds me of Ken Clark's Civilization. Kudos to you and the team!!

What some guests have said are particularly moving. e.g. one guest talked about how civilizations go through good times and bad times, and how one shouldn't see these civilizations as competing against one another, but rather that they are passing on the torch to one another, each taking turn to advance human's understanding of the world and the universe and all these are the legacies of us all. Truly outstanding.
