Christmas reflections

Posted from: Wijint
Following Matt's return home it was time to regroup and carry on with the filming. Steve Robinson, his boss, came out to replace him and we recommenced our journey down the river. Morale was obviously quite low at this point but following an amazing three-day boat journey through spectacular landscapes we all perked up and continued with the job at hand.

Since then we have spent time with the Ashaninka, and now the Achuar, lovely people but understandably suspicious considering the years of struggle they have had protecting their land from terrorists, the narcotics trade, and oil companies. Filming with them has been a challenge due to these factors but we are slowly gaining their trust.

We only have 11 days to go before we return home, I have mixed feelings, I cannot wait to be back with my family who I have missed incredibly, but it will be sad to end what has been an amazing experience on so many levels. I came out here not knowing any of the team apart from Matt, but will leave with strong affection for all of them. Each one has been a joy to get to know - I will miss them.

I look forward to Christmas and the next couple of months when I will be home with my beautiful girls, and then hope to return to continue filming on film four in Brazil.

Find out more about the Achuar.
