BASSLINE...
Yo Yo! a few things... firstly I forgot to write that I did interview Daft Punk in the end. They were very lovely, very intelligent men and you will hear the results of the interview on the Mash Up soon. Also this week one of my favourite bands of the moment, came into the studio for an interview. If you listen to them you'll hear that there is big use of the 'vocode' in their music... well Pee Thug from the band brought in his voicebox and ended up speaking to me through the whole interview in a very deadpan, Vocoded voice. It was very very hard to not laugh, (alot of hands over the mouth moments) but it was wicked and I can't wait to put it out on the show in a few weeks.
Now this weeks show is all about BASSLINES.
Where would we be without the bass guitar? Think about your favourite basslines and help me put together a bass heavy MASH UP this week..leave your suggestions below..THANK YOU!

Complain about this postBass and drums are the key to any good band because when you have a group of very good musicians you have to get the balance betwee the different intruments so nobody's overplaying.
Listening to jazz music has change completely my understand and abiity as a listener. So when I think of bass playres I think of Ray Brown or Charlie Mingus.
But going to contemporary band I would say:
Massive Attack-Safe From Harm, or Angel, or one of my favourites "Live With Me"
The Cure- Lullaby, Shake Dog Shake
A Pertfect Circle-The Package/The Noose
The Legendary TigerMan- Route 66 (he's a one man band so he samples but he plays the bass too)
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers-Can麓t Stop /Under The Bridge 8and so many more...)
Pink Floyd- Money /Have A Cigar
RadioHead- The National Anthem (I would name them all-this is my favourite band)

Complain about this postI couldn't resist andi will probably introduce to you some portuguese bands.
In my opinion this is the best alternative rock/metal (you name it) band to be created in this small country- M茫o Morta
A 25 year rock band who doesn't give a damn aboput hit-lsts or playlists or interests or labels or... they don't need music to live so they do it calmly and with awsome criativity and quality in their works.
They are presenting the Theatre/Music Play called "MALDOROR" from the Isidore Ducasse book "The Tails Of Maldoror". Check the website.
I am just happy they're portuguese ;)
(ok it's more a metal band)
