Click's botnet experiment was a while ago now, but the IT security community is still debating on. :

And by the way, Mark, you didn't "pose as a customer", you were a customer. This isn't just flirting with the darkside: it's more like paying the darkside for services rendered behind the bike sheds, then bragging about it to the tabloids!

Steve Bowbrick -- editor of the Radio 4 blog -- gives advance warning of Announcers' Week. A blog a day from the Radio 4 announcers. Steve says:

Each day, for the whole week, I'll bring you a post from one of Radio 4's announcers - the preternaturally calm crew who sit at the eye of the network's daily storm of news and comedy and weather and documentaries and drama (and the shipping forecast) and make sure everything keeps flowing as it should.

The more eagle-eyed among you will have also noticed that the Radio 4 blog has had a makeover too, going to the full 1024 pixels wide design that we now enjoy.

"If there's one thing that bugs this blogger, it's people dismissing HD" Dave Lee.

If there's two things that annoy this poster.

1/You still have the dog in the corner, makes a mockery of alluding to perfection or quality.

2/People not taking what you do or say seriously. Something now I can see we obviously share.

May I endorse the comments of Emmerdale Farm Egg above.

I read your blog because I have an interest in the things you write about, but if there is one thing that bugs this poster it is the continual dissing of critical viewers and listeners, by pompous ´óÏó´«Ã½ employees.

Your comment about "people dismissing HD -- and adding "I can't really tell the difference", (BTW did you do that last bit in a funny voice as your mate Nick Reynolds does at is uncannily similar to that other offensive comment from another ´óÏó´«Ã½ Internet Blog contributor Danielle Nagler, (Head of ´óÏó´«Ã½ HD), when she wrote:

"I know that for some who read this programmes are a second order issue, compared to the DOG and our broadcast bitrate." /blogs/bbcinternet/2009/04/hd_update_the_arrival_of_the_h.html

That is not the only time Nagler has had a dig at posters on this subject either.

For the record the people contributing to your egotisical blogs are not doing so in order to 'dismiss HD'; quite the contary in that they have invested hard-earned money in buying HD eqiupment for the very reason they want higher definination television pictures, with a high bitrate, and Dolby digital sound to match, and preferably without the screen grafitti that is the ´óÏó´«Ã½ HD DOG. We are your early adopters and if you can't take a bit of critical comment then you are in the wrong job.

If you only want compliments please just say so and I will go elsewhere.

Oh yes!, if there is one more thing that bugs this poster it is people who, having nothing useful to contribute post glib comments like: "it looked alright to me..." /blogs/bbcinternet/2009/04/hd_update_the_arrival_of_the_h.html

    Egg, jtemplar,

Just to clarify -- the comment I made about HD wasn't aimed at fans of ´óÏó´«Ã½ HD. Far from it. It stems from an argument with my girlfriend who said she simply couldn't tell the difference. I think we all know that's a bit mad. That is all.

  • Comment number 4.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the clarification re your argumentative girlfriend ;-)

I think we may be a little too sensitive at the moment, due to the jibes we have had from others regarding bitrates and DOGs. Glad to see you do appreciate clarity of definition as do we.

Hope all is well with said girlfriend.
