´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer press pack January 2010
The January 2010 ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer press pack is now available to download as a PDF: ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer Press Pack - Jan 2010. (Ed's update, 23-02-10: The pack we uploaded originally had omitted an episode of Being Human - as pointed out by the very observant kennyliza in this comment. The pack's been updated and is in the same location. PM)
Here are some of the highlights picked out by the Comms team:
- Snow helped to deliver the highest week of total requests in the week of 4-10th Jan with a figure of 23.8 million requests
- ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer on Nintendo Wii continues to perform well, increasing to become 4% of total requests for ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer
- Nintendo's January 10 marketing campaign has lead to an increase of 26% in the number of weekly requests from Dec 09
The beta product of ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer on Freesat is being made available to a wider audience with the removal of the 4 digit code needed to access the product(Ed's update: For technical reasons the PIN hasn't been removed as yet.)
Paul Murphy is the Editor of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Internet blog.

But I notices that nations programming is lacking. IS that a feature of the Wii scheduling or transcoding that it's only the network programmes that tend to appear and be searchable?

Hi kennyliza
I've spoken to the press team and you are correct! The PDF has been updated and is in the same location to download. Well spotted,
Thanks for that,
Paul

This change means that I cannot continue to use XBMC to access the ´óÏó´«Ã½ feeds. I would have thought that you want to encourage open source access to the ´óÏó´«Ã½ from within the UK!
See for further details.

James

That's pretty cool, do you think it is worth me doing something like that for my website?[Unsuitable/Broken URL removed by Moderator] Like how many visitors we get - would the local news be interested in that? If not, what else could I do get featured in the news?

DRM and other copyright protection issues I suspect.
I'm all for 'Open Source' but also accept that open source software can't (be definition) provide some software. I would prefer that .swf files were not even used for video/audio, after all they are just other formats wrapped in a .swf header-footer so why not just use the native format, unfortunately those native formats do not offer the necessary content management control that is needed.

On my PC I could play "Let's Ddance for Sports Relief" but that programme was not available via the Wii. Is there any reason for this? Has the Wii got a smaller stored programme list?
