Reed On!

´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra | 10:42 UK time, Monday, 11 December 2006

Sunday 3rd December was the day! The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama was the venue. The performers........well, only 41 oboists and 43 bassoonists from all over the country, who had joined the Double Reed sections of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra to perform the world premiere of Slow Air and Reel for Double Reed Choir by William Sweeney. The sound was awesome, and they looked fantastic!

This event was part of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO's Learning programme which encourages people of all ages and abilities to become more closely involved with the orchestra and the music that it performs. Throughout the year we organise events, concerts, masterclasses and workshops involving, school children, music students, amateur orchestras, young composers and conductors, giving them all a unique access to professional orchestral performers and to classical music.

If you were part of the Reed On! event, if you were part of the audience and would like to tell us what you thoughts about the day, just add your comments on the link below!
