Last week, (April 7th - 12th) Ircam, the famous Paris-based research and performance centre for new music collaborated with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO in a week-long celebration of contemporary and electro-acoustic music at Glasgow's City Halls This was the first time Ircam had collaborated with a British orchestra and alongside concerts featuring the work of leading European composers Jonathan Harvey, Stockhausen and Ircam's founder, Pierre Boulez, Ircam staff in partnership with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ SSO's learning programme, ran their first Academy of New Music in the UK, working with composers to develop new techniques in computer technology workshops.

Composers and sound artists Pippa Murphy and Pete Stollery and members of the Scottish Ensemble ran workshops in ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland's new headquarters at Pacific Quay for members of the public to try their hand at transforming instruments using technology to make music.

Glasgow's gave the concerts 4 stars in their review and Glasgow composer, Simon Van Der Walt, writes enthusiastically about Trevor Wishart's 'Globalalia', Richard Ayres '37b' and the Stockhausen pieces in his blog, .
