Muse - 'Knights Of Cydonia'
It may be time for the Pop Intervention Unit to pay Muse a visit, because a song like this can only be the work of the Terminally Bonkers. Or it would be, if this weren't so utterly amazingly ace.
Seriously. It's a deliberately puffed-up, overproduced, hyperkinetic behemoth of a track - and it's wonderful. It gallops along so breathlessly we got saddle sores just listening to it.
It's like an electronic Western with surf guitars, and it's not taking itself seriously for even a second, which is a beautiful thing in the era of Razorlight. It's proper pomp pop rock (try saying that after three shandies) of the kind most bands are too cred-obsessed to make these days.
A little bit of gratuitous silliness goes a long, long way. On horseback, no less. Bravo, lads.

oh my god! the first ever review i have totally agreed with in my life! but on a serious note, the song is actually amazing. matt bellamy will live long in the memory of any music fan, especially after seeing the legend at leeds fest this year!
