Chris Cornell - 'You Know My Name'
If you've seen the current Bond film, you'll know that the title track has a lot to live up to. Namely, it has to look good in tight trunks, it has to be able to withstand torture of the testicles and it has to be very good at poker.
This song title was originally 'You Know My Name. I'm Chris Cornell, Formerly Of '90s Grungesters Soundgarden And Then '00s Supergroup Audioslave. I Have Been Moderately Successful Although Largely Derivative, But I'm Back Now Though.' However it was shortened for marketing reasons.
Why they picked Cornell we shall never know. Why not get someone who could transform the theme in the same way that this film is transforming the franchise?
This song is alright. But alright doesn't cut it. Alright means lazy, unassuming and does not in any way conjure up the Adonysian splendour of a chiselled torso emerging from the sea, sunlight dancing upon beads of moisture as they drip slowly down towards.. where was I? Uh... Cornell! Step away from the bond franchise! Bad theme-tune maker!

i love this song!!!
Only 2 stars? You need your head examined.
What???, get over yourself and return back to the bubblegum charts where you and the talentless "musical" fools cater for the masses. This song has real depth and suits the film perfectly. Go home and stick your head back into the room where the "i'm gonna be famous cos i'm pretty and nothing else" wannabes live, crank up your latest Girls Aloud single and suck your thumb. Two stars.........you should be back in primary school.
[Wait until you see the review of the new Girls Aloud single, Mr. - Fraser]
Well said. Chris Cornell doing the Bond theme tune is just the thin end of the wedge. Next thing you know, Blind Melon will be driving our red London buses and Zach de la Rocha will be playing Miss Marple.
[Those two beefy ones out of Screaming Trees would be rather good post-grunge Bond henchmen in an Oddjob style. Trademark weapon? Plaid flannel shirts...OF DEATH! - Fraser]
