A Brazen Grace
See this lady here? She's a hussy. And the reason I know this isn't because she's pulling that pouty face, or because I was told she is by a jealous ex-boyfriend from the 1950s (it's not that modern a word, see). No, the reason I know this is because she is in a band with that name. And they've got an EP made up of the best songs from the two EPs they released last year, and it's coming out in February (the 19th) and I've heard it and I really like it.
Here's two of the songs in handy audio form. The first is a little like the Coral, with a gruff lady singer (yes, it's her above), and lyrics like him out of Arctic Monkeys, and the second begins with the line "Jeez, I've got electric hair", which is a very good opening line for a song.
(brainypop!)
(perkypop!)
And here they all are.
Two things need to also be said:
THING THE FIRST They don't know how to spell their own name. They've spelled it The Hussy's, which as any fool knows, is an abbreviated way of saying "the hussy is", or implies that something - the band, perhaps? - belongs to a hussy. Trouble is, if they took the apostrophe out, they'd have to be called The Hussies, which is the plural of 'hussy', see? And that doesn't look as cool.
So you can see why they've done it, but if they do become massive, several English teachers are going to explode and Stephen Fry won't like them. I expect they will cope.
THING THE SECOND: You'll notice I'm trying very hard not to make any kind of suggestion that this band are in any way 'Hot For 2007' or 'Hotly Tipped' or in any other way related to heat and the year ahead. This is for one very simple reason. If they don't get a Top Ten hit by March, it'll look like they've failed and that I'm an idiot. And yet all I want to say is that their music is jolly good. Whether they're gonna be huge or not is up to YOU, isn't it?
More Hussy-related shenanigans - including the other two songs on the EP - can be found at their MySpace page:

I'm glad someone else notices such grammatical errors. After giving their music a try maybe I'll write a kindly worded letter...

I saw what you did Susannah and I liked! It was a deliberate thing from the band because it clearly does look cooler! And the modern music fan wont notice anyway so no harm done. Their musics great.
(See what I did there? I left out an apostrophe this time which shows how clever and witty I am. Try to keep up.)
Back to the point, The Hussy's are the best band I've heard in a while.
This band deserves the recognition nationally now,
They have appeared on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland's Video Show,
Last year and have been on various ´óÏó´«Ã½ radio,
shows, as well as various other shows based in
Their native Scotland.
They are a class act live , I wish them all the
Best for the future and Hope they continue to give
Us songs as good as the others.
Quote : from Napoleon song,
" I get bullied by the kind of people who get bullied,
elsewhere" , Genius lyrics.
If you don't like The Hussy's, you are an idiot. It really is as simple as that.
They sent a friend request to me on mypimp and I accepted because as you've so eloquently written "their music is jolly good"
I think you need you ears clearing out. Weak vocals by what looks like a pre-op tranny and possibly the most out of time bassist since spinal tap.
recycled over hyped rubbish!
i've seen these 3 times now and it was the same thing on all 3 occasions.
the only good thing they have got going for them is their drummer.
he is the only one that doesnt look like he is playing to nursery kids bouncing about like a retard.
an average band with a great drummer
[Come on, admit it, you're the drummer's brother/best mate/dad, aren't you? - Fraser]
