Ben Macklin ft. Tiger Lily - 'Feel Together'

This one is going to come as a blessed relief to any dance fans who've been finding that Eric Prydz remix 'technique' to be a little bit - how can I put it? - uninspired?

Rather than just pilfer the best bits of a [local radio DJ voice] "classic track" from "yesteryear", or the entire song, in Eric's case, Ben has just taken a tiny sample of the gospelly backing vocals from Culture Club's '80s torch song 'Victims', and then roped Danish soulster Tiger Lily in to create an entirely new tune (or 'choon', as they say in Danceland) around it.

Now, before you all get too excited, the song itself doesn't quite match up to the genius of the sample it is rooted in. It's good, soulful dance pop, and should go down a storm in the middle of DJ Obvious's set of cack-handed 'classic' remixes (middle of the bill, Tuesday nights at the Glowstick And Firkin Club, next to the multistory car park in the industrial estate, Hastings).

But it could be a bit more adventurous, melodically. Having said that, if you think about it in the context of the lazily made 'Chacarron' then it's total genius. Mind you, by that benchmark, so is 'The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)'...

Three starsReleased: January 8th
