Nas - 'Hip Hop Is Dead'

NasI don't know about you, but I'm a bit worried about Nas. He's always been a bit of a grump, but doesn't he seem a bit more under the weather than usual lately? It could be something as small as Mrs Nas, aka Kelis, failing to correctly iron the pleats in his low riders. But I think it might be something bigger. Something... postmodern.

In a recent interview, he pronounced that "America is dead... Music is dead, our commerce is dead. Everything in society has been done." And that's not all, funtimers! Now he's here to ring the death knell for hip hop too. Oh dear. Warm milk and a cuddle for Mr Nas, someone?

And the worst thing is, on the basis of recent sales, he might just be right. But don't worry fansters! Our boy's got a plan.

First of all, he's going to write a most excellent track about the death of the genre to which he's giving life. Clever, see? And if that isn't hip hop CPR in the making, he's going to get a concept gun (yes, a CONCEPT GUN!), load it up with some rhymes and take out some DJs. Once that's done, everything will be fine.

But in the meantime, just behave as you did when hip hop was alive. And listen to this track. It really is sumpin good.

Good to see one of the grandfathers of Hip-Hop getting bigged up! If you don't know "you got soul" you don't know Hip-Hop.
Quite like this tune by Nas, he's getting quite a lot of air play with it.
