What With the painful fall of grace from Britney, a long wait til Kylie's album, and the, ahem, tragic breakup of All Saints, the pop princess throne position is in dire need of being filled. Despite cracking comebacks from Sophie E-B and Gwen Stefani, we all know there's only one contender for the crown - Miss Lily Allen.

Back from her Brits blues with avengance, this double A-side brings summer right back to kick the ass of those dreary winter blues.
Remember pestering your parents to take you to the fairground when you were a nipper? Well 'Alfie' is all the childish fun of eating too much ice cream and throwing up on the Big Dipper, whilst 'Shame for You' is catching your boyf with another girl, putting candyfloss in her Barbie hairdo and trouncing them on the dodgems.
All bow at the throne of Lily - it's enough to make you turn patriotic.

PS: Apparently the NME award for best video went to the Killers for 'Bones'. Now, that's not a bad video, but nowhere near the same degree of brilliance as Lily's 'Alfie' clip. Come on, THE WORLD, sort it out!
