A Man Needs (To Do His Pop Homework)

Earlier this week I spoke to the very talkative Ryan Jarman from indie firebands the Cribs about a number of exciting things. What it's like to have a video banned in this day and age, how hard it is to make a video with a nude lady in it without seeming sexist, and how rubbish it is to make a video just so that you can get it banned (which they did NOT do, OK?).

Ryan CribsBut the main topic of conversation was a big list of as many pop hits as I could find with the word 'Need' or 'Needs' in the title. This is because the new Cribs album is called 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever', and accompanying single is 'Men's Needs', so people needing things in musical form seemed relevant.

And y'know, but for the fact that Ryan had heard practically NONE of the songs on my list, it really would've been...(relevant, that is)...

Bah!

And here's the video we were talking about. Once again, it does contain some rubbish special effects, so PLEASE don't watch if you're likely to be offended by them...

'Men's Needs' gets the ChartBlog indie appreciation chinstrokometer treatment...

Gosh he doesn't half talk around in circles. Like a donkey with a carrot isn't it? He's getting to the point, he is.. you see it coming!! And then it swings further away again.

To be fair you picked some pretty random songs.. you should just have asked him to comment on the sentiments expressed in the song titles! :P

[That was kind of what I was driving at. He wouldn't do it unless he knew the song! To be fair, one of the songs is in a film he LIKES, and he doesn't remember it. Still, what a talker, eh? - Fraser]
