Chart Show vs ChartBlog - Part 4
In science, the term Observer Effect refers to changes that the act of observing will make on whatever it is that is being observed. And I think we have now found the perfect example of this phenomenon in action. Having read out a couple of these blog entries on air, Fearne and Reggie are now starting to become a little more guarded about what they say. Not in an unfriendly way, I hasten to add, but this has added a slight air of tension to proceedings. I'm hoping to make one of them cry before the show finishes...
Anyway, since the last posting, the following things have happened...
Reg has said this to Fearne, who is working the desk "give me the finger when you want me to speak".
Fearne and Reg have bickered over the new Girls Aloud single 'Call The Shots'. Fearne loves it, and is especially fond of one of Nadine's ad-libbed moans. I can't really explain which one, seeing as it is largely 'ooh'-based in nature, but she seems to love it. Anyway, Reg isn't so sure, and seems to think it is only girls who are moved in this way by ad-libs of this sort.
Reg was talking about Mika, and how whenever he has interviewed him there always seems to be a nervous army of PR people around him. Not necessarily because Mika is such a massive diva he needs an enormous entourage or anything (although this is surely only a matter of time...I bet they'll all have to wear Mika masks and Mika wigs and dress like Mika is dressing on that day too). No, the reason for the PR army is just in case he says anything daft. Which does make you wonder at the sheer scale of daftness in the things he has said which don't pass muster, bearing in mind he's not exactly known for making sober public statements at the best of times.
An on air ad-lib about taking all your clothes off and dancing on the desk ends with the following exchange...
Reggie: [Pretending to be a biology teacher] "Don't giggle, it's perfectly natural and normal..."
Fearne: [Joining in] "What? What's wrong with being nude?"
Reggie: "Come on now, we've ALL GOT ONE..."
Fearne "I haven't, but I'm down with it.."
When they were setting up the interview with Craig David, Reggie took some time to chat to Craig's tour manager, and to conduct some private business, much to Fearne's delight. They were gassing away about exchanging digits and having Reggie's people talk to Craig David's person's, er, people...and Fearne was behind Reg pretending to be his manager, and yelling stuff like "FAX ME YOUR MOJO" at ear-splitting volume.
Trust me, it was funny at the time!
