1 - Basshunter - 'Now You're Gone'

BasshunterChartSnipe: Strictly speaking, you don't HUNT for bass, any more than you track for cod or set snares for shrimps. No, if it's a big old sea-bass you want, and you're in the business of going out and getting it, that makes you a bassfisher. Which is a less cool name, popwise, but it's a hell of a lot more accurate. (FM)

=======================

2 - Britney Spears - 'Piece Of Me'
Britney SpearsChartSnipe: ChartBlog's very own Hazel Robinson has pointed out that the brilliant thing about this song is that the title line "you want a piece of me" is both a fight-starting question AND a bald statement of the facts. Hell, it could even be an order too. And a sarcastic, self-mocking quip, something along the lines of "hey, look at all the crazy stuff I do, am I REALLY worth all this attention?". That's art, that is. (FM)

=======================

3 - Soulja Boy Tellem - 'Crank That (Soulja Boy)'
Soulja Boy TellemChartSnipe: I'm sure there's a perfectly logical reason why Soulja Boy has chosen to add that 'Tellem' gubbins to his name there. I'm sure it can't be as daft as him trying to claim people are ordering him to spread the truth about his funny dance routine, and that he hears those words so often he might as well be called them. There's overconfidence and then there's just rank showing off... (FM)

=======================

4 - Nickelback - 'Rock Star'
NickelbackChartSnipe: Shh! Nobody make a sound. If we ignore them, maybe they'll go away again. (FM)

=======================

5 - Leon Jackson- 'When You Believe'

Leon JacksonChartSnipe: This is what I said last week: "Hey, I thought this was supposed to be a NEW year? Look at this Top 5...it's pitiful. Same No.1 as before Christmas, Soulja Boy has come back up, Leona won't go home, Timbaland is setting up his OneRepublic in the British Charts, in what seems to be a bloodless coup, and Take That are BACK. It's as if the festive season never happened, which, bearing in mind that it's twelfth night and all the decorations are now down, might as well be the case. New songs, please!"

All I can say is, THANKS! (FM)

    Hey Mister.. two of them top 5 have never been blogged!! What kinda Chart are you blogging here??! :P

    I'm with you on the No1.. but with Nickelback yer just baing a hater :P I mean I KNOW all their songs are basically new(ish) words to the same tune. But this one has kinda funnyish new words.. to exactly the same tune.. on exactly the same instruments.. and it could do with being half the length 'cause it's kinda draggy.. but still.. HATER! ;)
