Well played Orient - you deserved it, but I doubt you'll triumph at the Emirates. The last thing we need though is yet ANOTHER replay, I'm sure we enjoy making things difficult for ourselves!

We had plenty of possession, but like Barcelona did in midweek, we didn't play the ball forward enough and create enough chances after going 1-0 up and we paid the price for that.

Not a terrible performance by us, I've seen a lot worse.

Could you or one of your colleagues perhaps write a blog about the proposed changes to the FA Cup? These include a kick off time at 5.30pm, no replays and even a seeding system! It is bad enough that this year the final will take place on a weekend where there will be a full Premier League schedule. These proposed changes could hammer a final nail in the FA Cups coffin.

Seeding brilliant, make it harder for a smaller team to win any games.

Up here in Scotland I would have loved to have seen the games this season and last with the lower league teams pushing it close.

Very honest of Wenger to admit he didn't know anything about him! To be honest, think he did most of his homework on Alex Revell, who has been our most dangerous striker this season without a doubt, but he had a quiet game yesterday.
All this attention on Orient is a complete novelty to me, as it's never happened in my lifetime before, but as Tehoue says, when we go out of the cup, all of this will end!

I think after Spurs performance in the last round their fans would be better not commenting on the FA Cup. We made 10 changes and dominated the game, but for bad goal keeping from a keeper on his way out we would have got through comfortably enough. Can't see wenger making many changes in the replay but we should still be too strong for Orient at home. Fair play to them for sticking in there, and for that they deserve another crack. All the big cups have struggled at some point in the cup this year, City drew at Notts Co, Utd struggles away to Southampton and at home to Crawley, us in every round. Were still there though and a game against Utd at OT looms. Id fancy our reserves against theirs though!!

So with the big teams playing reserves, midtable Premier League teams been more concerned about Premier League safety, and teams at the top of the Championship been more concerned with promotion, could someone please tell me how the FA Cup differs from the Carling Cup?

Fair result and well played O's. The 2nd string midfield of Denilson/Rosicky and Squillaci at back is crap.

Having said that Arsenal should win the home tie and setup an exciting match against Man U at Old Trafford with a domestic "double/treble" on the line!!!

13 - The answer should be obvious, but if I must explain...Arsenal were the better team yesterday, unlike South East United on Saturday. We dominated both possession and the goal area and this is backed up by the stats. United couldn't keep hold of the ball, nor register more shots than Crawley (5 leagues below them) and the game was an awful scrappy affair of which Sam Allardyce would have been proud.

Playing at home when facing lower league opposition is a massive advantage in the FA cup, not to mention Orient are 2 leagues above Crawley so they will also be better to start off with.

I am not trying to defend the Arsenal performance because it was not good enough, however we were still better than South East United.

Squillaci is basically Sylvester MkII, a very shonky player. Denilson has his moments, but unfortunately they are few and far between.

Replay is the last thing we needed but to be fair we can't use it as an excuse as most of the first team wont play! Also good to see Miguel finally, looks more assured than Squilacci already and Almunia was shocking! Would have rather seen the young Shea given a game!

Well I no I would rather beat a non-league side unconvincingly than draw against a league 1 side whilst 'dominating' the game....that's the difference between united and arsenal, a winning mentality.

#22 - You are missing the point you were at home against a 5th tier English side, we were away against a third tier english side? How can you compare the two results/performances? Did you see the state of the pitch (and no im not talking about the united one - lol). But all credit to LO they got the draw and im sure whatever the result the money earned from the replay will come in very handy!

#22 - nobody's arguing that United were woeful on Saturday however at the end of the day it's about results - and United are in the next round without a replay. Arsenal will 99% likely get there too but it will take them another game.

Another bonus for United fans is that Fergie now cannot fail to see that Obertan and Bebe are not good enough. It's OK for new/young players to be a bit overawed by a Premier League team, but a non-league side there's no excuse. Ship 'em both to Liverpool.

@9 - I believe the ever increasing Fifa and UEFA scheduling is just not helping the FA cup nowadays. We are all aware of the international scheduling system in February but its the fact that, in order to increase TV revenue, UEFA decided to split the Champions League into two separate weeks rather than playing all the matches in one week.

This has meant, rather sadly, that the FA Cup has been skewered horribly by this with teams playing fourth round replays and fifth round matches on the same day and as you say the final this year will be on the same day as a PL weekend. It would be a tremendous shame to ditch the replay system, because it gets rid of the financial bonuses for sides like Leyton Orient.

However to remedy this, the only feasible way would be to seed the draw so that the bigger PL sides are automatically guaranteed to play the Crawley's and Leyton Orient's should they progress into the third round and beyond.

For me, I would go with the seeding process up until the QF and schedule all 3rd to 5th round matches (with replays) in a three week period in January. That way you avoid a backlog of fixtures and you essentially give the sides an informal winter-break. I don't think changing the FA Cup is a bad thing - it just has to reflect the changes in modern football. Keep in mind, if the FA Cup didn't adapt we would still be playing second and third replays and FA Cup final deciders on a Wednesday night.

As a dedicated Orient fan of over 25 years standing, yesterday must rank as one of the most pleasurable days of my life. To be honest I, together with my brother and father, were slightly sceptical concerning our cup ‘run’ and have always been more focussed on the league. We were perhaps a little wary of all the hype and the apparent surge of fair-weather fans who are rarely to be seen at Yeovil or Carlisle away. Last night, however, all that cynicism was blown away. Yes, there were people there who we shall doubtless never see again but nonetheless the atmosphere was amazing. Brisbane Road was rocking like I have never seen it, the culmination of our gathering momentum this year, and the explosion of joy when Tehoue scored was something to behold. Don’t get me wrong, we may now joke about being better than Barcelona but we are keenly aware of the fact that there is a huge gulf in talent and ability between us an Arsenal and few of us expect anything from the replay except for a great day out and more money in the coffers. But, then again, one can always dream …

Incidentally, I am also amused by all this sudden attention given to Tehoue (aka 'the Beast'). He has been a fan favourite ever since he arrived, even though he seems incapable of playing more than 45 mins - 'We love Tehoue, houe; we love Tehoue, houe' (to the tune of 'I Like to Move It') ;-)

Really annoyed at the result. Wenger had just reiterated his belief that Arsenal can win all 4 trophies (I highly doubt we will) and then this happens. The last thing we need is another match in this already hectic schedule, especially considering we play Man U in their backyard should we progress beyond LO. Can't really blame Wenger for this result as there were plenty of players who have played quite a few matches for the first team, Chamakh, Song, Arshavin, Rosicky, Sagna, Denilson, Squillaci. So it wasn't really that much of a second string.

Anyway, full credit to LO. If you weren't playing Arsenal I would be much happier with the fact you're getting a replay at a PL team. Didn't get to see the match, but scoring in the last minute always shows dogged determination, so respect and congratulations!

As an Arsenal fan I must admit that I cheered when LO scored. Simply because it was a brilliant goal and the whole story was very romantic - third tier team, playing their hearts out, infront of rabid home fans and supporters, and potential for some money in their pockets. I had to cheer. Good job LO...excellent.

I am frankly not worried about the replay. A lot of players in our squad need games anyway - Bendtner, Eboue, Chamakh, Squillaci, Almunia, Denilson, Gibbs etc etc. So this is a good game for them to play in. Plus I think Verma should be back and so he can also play in this game. The young Miquel was excellent, the goal notwithstanding. He looks assured and composed.

Another game for us but we did not kill the game off so here we are. And as AW said in his newsletter, fighting spirit always gets it done - LO had plenty so they fully deserve all the accolades. See you lads at the Emirates. Well done!

One can see why there is a call to scrap all replays in these cup competitions.

It was not long ago that fixtures were being rearranged to ensure a big pay day from gate reciepts under the guise of " safety ".

IMO replays should indeed be scrapped this perhaps will bring back the alledged " magic " that is the FA Cup.

I know you are a diehard Arsenal fan like me but you have to admit it is a beautiful story for LO. The small clubs have to have means of revenue and if they fight hard to get where they are, then let them make some money. It is up to the big clubs like ours to cut them off on the pitch but if we can't or couldn't, hey, give the small clubs the rewards. This tie and the replay could keep LO's balance sheet positive for the first time. I am happy about that as a football fan. You have to, no?

Nice. As a fellow Arsenal supporter, I agree! Still a pity we have to do a replay, but great news for LO! I hope it helps them stay afloat and rise to better things!

mr hearn boasts about a possible 700.000 pay day for the trip to the emirates he then babbles on about a judicial revue? is he aware of just how much that would cost? surely the money gained for LO should go into the club, not Judges and Goverments pockets! after all both are thieving rogues and have no clue about Justice at all.

We should be alarmed at how these draws are actually made and even if they are genuine, which i suspect they are NOT! the game should be settled on the day this would end all the babble and yoohah over who supposedly has the bestest 2nd string etc etc for if you want to progress you would field your strongest team ohh and also NOT PLAYING FOR THE DRAW! or hope to nick a result to boost your coffers.

As an arsenal fan i'm very annoyed that they let Leyton Orient back into the game which Arsenal should have killed off much earlier, obviously i fully expect us to go through to the next round with ease but it's just irritating that this is another game which they are going to have to play and i do hope that wenger does not start our top players like fabregas nasri van persie etc, and only chooses to use thme if the situation requires it because we are goin into a hectic period where we are going to have to play a game every mid week and every weekend, i'm just prayin that none opf our top players pull up with any injuries.

I dont mind having a replay so much as some people have previously said we have a few squad/fringe players who could do with the match anyway.

Mostly just concerned we dont get any serious injuries to first teamers ahead of the Barca 2nd leg. Then we'll be left with another reason to justify losing cos "our best players" were injured...again!

Unlike the emphasis on revenue placed on the game by Sky and all the Premier League clubs? Nice of you to begrudge the O's a once-in-a-generation pay day because it's going to get in the way of your precious League and European cash cows.

I said on the previous blog that I would not be gutted by a draw, more game time for our squad players and nice financial windfall for a neighbouring club and that is how I choose to see it, though I was a bit gutted at the time by the goal we conceded - straight between centre back and full back and through the keeper.

Keeping on the positives we passed the ball about a million times on a tricky surface (though often it did become passing for possessions sake) and everything about the game from the build-up through the match and post game has reinforced what a fine club the Orient are so I am genuinely pleased for them.

If our forwards are so wayward with their shots again and our defending as weak as for the goal then you never know in a one-off game and perhaps the Orient will be looking at another massive pay day away to United. Obviously I hope and expect it not to be but anyway once more well played the O's and game on again (also excellent blog meant to say so last time as well).

Forgot to say it does seem a little strange that none of our players mentioned Tehoue and shared their knowledge of his capabilities in the pre-game preparation, lesson learned for the future I hope.

I don't know why people are worried about another game! We made wholesale changes and the first team had a well earned rest. The same players will play against Orient again and the first team will have a rest again if we don't suffer injuries. Actually this might be an advantage for Arsenal later in the season because the 2nd string get games and become sharper and could help out our first team if needed. I was only dissapointed because we conceded in the last minute!
Don't listen to the romantics. We were in complete control. Orient were chasing shadows all game. Sometimes these things happen.

Post about orient and it's been hijacked by a bunch of Arsenal/Utd idiots. shame.

LO played good against Arsenal. Now if LO can repeat this performance against Arsenal at the Emirates next Wednesday. Then they can cause a major upset in the FA Cup.

Good result. There's no shame in getting an away draw in a cup tie with 10 first team players rested. Players who needed game time got it, we didn't suffer any injuries and get some extra revenue from the replay. I don't see the panic. Expect the second string to see them off 3-0 at home.
