MUMMY'S COMING TO TOWN, QUICK TIDY THE KITCHEN, BUY SOME LOO ROLL, GET SOME FOOD IN THE FRIDGE AND TURN THE HEATING UP !
Made Spag Carbonara last night, River Caf茅 style, it was so nice I had to make a second portion from scratch and I鈥檇 already washed up! Quick recipe鈥
鈥 melt butter in frying pan, add preferred meat, I only had bacon but a posh ham is best, once it鈥檚 cooking add half a glass of white wine and reduce, (start boiling pasta) separate two egg yolks, combine with a fork, add pasta al dente to sauce, also now add grated parmesan and another of your favourite cheeses along with another knob of butter, take off heat and pour the egg yolks on top, mix in and let them cook in the residual heat of the pasta鈥. lemon, basil, salt and pepper, if you fancy and serve. Delicious and not a drop of cream in sight.
You know I really fancied a pint last night but I ended up staying in.
As I was walking home I passed someone鈥檚 flat and they were already in their jimmy-jamms, eating a bowl of something or other, curled upon the sofa. They looked so cosy, I immediately changed my plans and decided to do the same. After a short diversion to pick up a couple of tinnies and a bag of maltesers I headed for the homestead.
The second I heard my front door clunk shut behind me, I felt amazing. I was in for the night, boots off, fire up the hob, crack open a beer and then oh heck, Enzo needs a walk, back on with the boots, find a carrier bag, in case he wants a pooh and we鈥檒l be back before Bill Oddie has chance to say, 鈥淲hat about that for a wagtail!鈥
So take two, Enzo gets his dinner, I am loving my spag bol and have now turned my attentions to a bottle of Cloud Bay, I鈥檝e got the crossie on my left and Oz Clark and James May are about to start talking wine en France.
After my second helping of 鈥渉eaven in a bowl鈥 I turn over to C4 to watch The Secret Millionaire, had me in floods by the end, some people are just so special. Then it was 638 ways to kill Castro, on tape. This is the number of recorded attempts on his life that have been investigated. He鈥檚 a strange one Castro but like all these things you never know who to believe, is he a baddy or a goody ? Anyway he鈥檚 still with us so someone must be watching his back.
The best bit of the film was a speech made by George Bush Jnr. saying, anyone who gives asylum to known terrorists is a terrorist themselves, when his dad has been known to have been doing this in the U.S. for years. This kind of stuff really is all very perplexing isn鈥檛 it ?
Anyway, all in all, such a good decision to stay in. I never ever regret staying in, I鈥檓 definitely going to do it more often. Not tonight though I鈥檓 taking mum to The Sound of Music鈥h and not tomorrow, I鈥檓 over at a friends鈥nd er, on Saturday I鈥檓 selling Christmas trees and then going to see James Bond鈥h blimey and then next week we go on the road and we鈥檒l be travelling every night.
Ho hum, never mind.
x.
P.S. How good was DAVID MORRIS the whistler !
P.P.S. Thanks for all the remedies yesterday, I鈥檝e been a fresh ginger, lemon and honey advocated for many years.

Morning again honeybun! So glad you had such a great night in .... it's so good to just chill on the couch sometimes, huh? I'm liking the sound of the spag carb! Yum! No more cooking for me til Monday .... Londinium awaits! If I can get past the fallen trees and mayhem to get back up to Inversnekkie!

Hope you get tidied up before your Mum comes! My Mum always arrives and says, 'Oh, you shouldn't have tidied up' ... yet you just know you'd get THAT look if you had actually left the place in its original state!
Have fun tonight .... Mums are there to be cherished and enjoyed ... they are not just for Christmas!

Morning all,
Sat and watched Oz and James paraletic tour of southern France last night for the first time. What a programme! how funny is James May?
Never mind the Bs, where's the food and wine. None of this spit it out rubbish, down the hatch with every drop!!
Great TV.
Thanks Chris, I was whistling flight of the bumble-bee all last night!
Happy Birthday Hazel Love!
DD out!
Hey ... where are you selling Christmas trees?! Not that we can take a Christmas tree back on the train! And I think hubby has organised a champaigne trip on the London Eye for us .... but we could give you a wave!
Hugs frae the blustery North (as in North of the Border ....not North of the Watford Gap!), Susan xxx
Mornin鈥 one and all
One of the few things that makes these dark winter nights bearable is being able to get into the old jim-jams early. Once dinner's on the go, I change into my pj's, the lights are low, the radio is on, whilst chatting to 'im indoors about our day. We give each other five minutes to rant and then work is forgotten about until the next day. I should really go for a brisk walk along the seafront as it鈥檚 only two minutes from home but somehow I always manage to talk myself out it!
The next stage of heaven is the Telegraph crossie being pondered over in one hand, with a glass of merlot in the other. Bliss 鈥..

PS I got my first mention on Chris's show last night - thanks Christoph!
PPS Lynne - my niece has a kidney infection and is still in hosp in NZ. Her temp has to be 37 for 24 hrs before she can come home and it's still way over 38 so probably another few days yet. Thanks x
Hazel Love - you've not been forgotten:
Happy birthday to you

Morning All xx Happy Thirsty Thursday yippee xx
Chris I too had a night in but not through choice:-(
Scary thing happened on the way home from work last night, the brakes went on my car!! Just came off the motorway onto the slip road which goes round a bend and down a slight slop put my foot on the brake and the peddle hit the floor! Managed to get myself home safely and
the nice recovery man took my car to the garage for repair this morning. They say things happen in three's, I'm hoping this is the thrird, my dashboard lights went the other week, had to have a complete exhaust last week and now my brake pipes need to be replaced :-( Very expensive time but I shouldn't complain apart from annual servicing and general wear & tear in the 8yrs I've had the car these are the first big things to go wrong....
On to more important things........
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Hazel Love happy birthday to you...hip hip horray.......hip hip horray.....
Have a great birthday Hazel X X X X X X
{{{{{{hug}}}}}}
I now have the day off work....yipppppeeee
Chris, give your Mum a big hug, I know you will anyway but just give her an extra one, why? - because you can xx I hope she has a fab time at the sound of music.
David Morris was amazing - infact I'm going to look up his website to get a CD.
Will try your receipe over the weekend, thanks.
Have a good day all
Take care
Love Mary xx
ps. Lynne your story about the mail box made me smile :-)
pps Just had the man from downstairs knock on my door to say water is coming from my bathroom down into his....oh nooooo.....no more problems please :-( Do you think if I go back to bed and pretend the day hasn't started
all the problems will go away? No I don't think so either but it would be nice if they did......
OOOH Sound of Music - hope you enjoy! The best experience I've ever had (well perhaps that's a tad exaggerated) was SingaLonga Sound of Music - you watch the film and you're given props, everyone dresses up as characters from the film, there's a 'ringmaster' type person who tells you what to do and what to watch out for in the film, and best of all, the words scroll along the bottom of the screen so you can sing your heart out to every song. Hilarious, exhilarating, glorious fun!!!
I'm a big fan of pjs and snuggling down for the night with some wine, animals curled up and some good tv or a good book. Can't do it tonight though, cos it's our office Xmas party. Best bit will be secret Santa - 50 people buying ridiculous things for people they don't really know for 拢5 - should be interesting!!! But I'll miss the show :-(
Have good days all.

So what did you do with the eggwhite? Merigues for pud?
It was great listening to the talk about poo the other night, I don't know how you kept a straight face.
opps hit the button too early - If you try to post
against the entry at the top of the page it won't let you. Error msg "no such entry! 7046" is the msg you will get!

Good Morning, Good Morning, Good Morning
Thanks for the recipe - sounds yummy - is it really only 10.50? Could do with having lunch now!
I stayed in last night too. My better half is away until friday night (and I'm out friday night with work - it's a No Partners Affair). So when I got home last night I also cosied up and made myself some pasta!
Macaroni Cheese for me though. With loads of mustard and hard boiled egg in the cheese sauce. I made so much I couldn't finish it!
Was strange being in the house without my big fella to look after me - it felt a bit too grown up so won't be getting used to THAT!
Risotto tonight - the only good thing about big fella being away - I get to make all the food he won't eat!
Have a great day all.
SWx
That sounds like a top night to me! Did you get any whistling practise in?? When David whistled Annie's Song it reminded me of my sadly departed Dad - he loved whistling and John Denver.....
Hope you can solve a dilemma - why oh why does eating an apple make you hungrier than before you ate the blooming thing??? Off to stuff my face with chocolate now................
Have a good day
xx
Morning everyone :o)
(This is quite long so feel free to skip)
I hate that panicky tidying that you have to do when you have visitors coming round. We're trying to sell our house at the moment and desperately trying to keep it in some sense of cleanliness at all times just in case someone wants to come round!
I must say I'm not a big spag carb. fan as I've always found it too rich but your version sounds about right Mr E and gives the perfect excuse for opening a bottle of wine!
Am v. jealous about you going to see the Sound of Music, it's my all itme favourite film (at the moment but that may change in time) Last Christmas I got the Sing-a-longa version on DVD and it has the bouncing ball on the bottom of the screen with lyrics and everything.
I missed James & Oz last night as we were at the inlaws but I'm hoping that it will be on Teleport Replay for viewing tonight when we shall stay in and get snuggly, I may even bring a blanket downstairs to get even more snuggly.(Teleport Replay, a free almost version of Sky+ for Cable people).
Charley seems to have plateaued a bit, following a deteriation in his wellbeing last week, am dreading the moment we have to take him to the vets but at the same time am wishing that it could all be over, is that mean?? He still gets lots of love and fuss though and is absolutely spoiled and ruined, so when he's awake I guess he's still quite happy.
The sky this morning was absolutely beautiful where I am. I'm not joking it was literally a plethore of colours! First there was the purple/grey of the clouds that hadn't really got any sunlight to them yet, that graduated to ping then to orange and there were little fluffy white clouds racing through the sky and the odd bit of pale blue and yellow near the horizon. i drove past a large pond with trees around it and the view throught the trees to the sunrise was breathtaking. Then I sat on the M6 for my daily 3 mile (25 minute) journey, such is life :o)
V Long Comment, apologies
:o) Jo
I was very impressed with David Morris.
I wonder if Cliff Richard could whistle Devil woman. Could only be an improvement....
Weeeeeell HALLO fair Krsystoffe
You sound like you had a fine old night last night. I've had that recipe too and it's totally delishus! May I recommend ham off the bone for the sauce, and just before you serve up, a small dollop of marscapone on the top....mmmmmmmmm
I was looking forward to a night in too, then the boy (who was home for a wee whilette) informed me that we would be going to the pub with a friend...friend then decided that a far more jolly evening would be spent chez nous, so the three of us stayed at ours with some tinnies and had a really cool time! Didn't see any telly AT ALL but spent quite a lot of time being maidservant to the cats as per (as purr!!! lol!!! Well I though it was funny and it is my birthday!)
Mums now. A WHOLE different ballgame. I love my mum to bits and am now not speaking to her after she has sent me an EXTREMELY rude card and an extremely large cheque. She is very very very very naughty, and I'm lucky it's HER birthday in January, so I can use some of the cash to get her a gorgeous pressie. She also (amongst others) has telephoned me at work and sung a rude version of the Birthday Song. Hey ho! It's great to be loved isn't it!
Have a great time at the SoM with your mum!
This is feeling a bit solipsistic today...?
WHAT CAN I SAY??????
I've been catching up on the rest of the posts from yesterday and thank you all SO much for your lovely birthday messages. I'm having a quiet day so far (after the tinnies last night...) but have had lots of cards and text messages. The boy left at 5 this morning and I'm not expecting to see him again til tomorrow. I don't mind what he gives me, as long as it's wrapped (GABY!!!)
Will of course be back later to see more of you beautiful people!
In the meanwhilst, I have to go, there's a gorilla needs signing for...

Good Morning all,
Chrid hope your sniffles are better.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAZEL LOVE
I'm thinking the comments are all chocked up with so many birthday wishes for Hazel this morning.
Not to worry, I'm sure once those clever chaps at the beeb sort it the messages will come flying out like cork from birthday bottle of champers.
I must say I thought the whistling was fantastic, I really wish I could get the hang of it, but last night on the way home I tried and tried to keep up, unfortunately all that could be heard of my efforts were silence punctuated by occasional sounds that were not disimilar to a budgie in distress!
This caused me to have an attack of the giggles, fine in the country lanes, but don't you get some strange looks once in town, ah well their loss.
I think thats about it for now
Take care
Nicki
ps YIPEE FRIDAY SOON

Morning Bloggers and schloggers
Although I sent a little message to Hazel Love on the bottom of the other blog today to wish her a happy birthday but it would be churlish not to do it again, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAZEL :-))
I know what you mean Mr E, when mommy is coming the house need to be sorted! My mom came over Tuesday evening for tea and when I got home the house was spotless :-) I asked Mrs B if my mom could come every week ;-)
I think your decision to stay I was perfect, not only for you but the German would have enjoyed the company as well.
Happy thirsty Thursday everyone!
P.S. Here is today鈥檚 offering form me for you ;-)
After just a few years of marriage, filled with constant arguments, a young man and his wife decided the only way to save their marriage was to try counselling. They had been at each other's throat for some time and felt that this was their last straw.
When they arrived at the counsellor's office, the counsellor jumped right in and opened the floor for discussion. "What seems to be the problem?" Immediately, the husband held his long face down without anything to say. On the other hand, the wife began talking 90 miles an hour describing all the wrongs within their marriage.
After 5 - - 10 - - 15 minutes of listening to the wife, the counsellor went over to her, picked her up by her shoulders, kissed her passionately for several minutes, and sat her back down. Afterwards, the wife sat there speechless. He looked over at the husband who was staring in disbelief at what had happened.
The counsellor spoke to the husband, "Your wife NEEDS that at least twice a week!"
The husband scratched his head and replied, "I can have her here on Tuesdays and Thursdays."

Staying in is the new going out.
We鈥檝e become a homely kind of couple. Mostly because we enjoy each others company so much, but also because you need to drive to get anywhere where we are, and as, like you, we enjoy the odd tipple, it makes far more sense to pop a cork at home and head for the kitchen to be creative than to try and source an expensive country taxi. That said, there are a couple of pubs within walking distance that we toddle over to occassionally for a pint and there are a few delightful foody pubs a short drive away.
鈥楾is the time of year to dream about and plan holidays for next year. We鈥檝e just booked ours and we鈥檝e decided to opt for our favourite 鈥 The Road Trip.
Whilst it鈥檚 many peoples idea of a holiday from hell (thanks PJ), over the years we鈥檝e got it down to a fine art. Next year we start in Seattle, pick up a 4x4 (don鈥檛 go all green on me) and head south through Washington and Oregon, into California, through the Redwood Forests, into wine country to San Francisco. From there, we鈥檝e a few options. Either way, we鈥檒l end up across the deserts into Vegas.
I don鈥檛 why, but we love this kind of trip. Maybe it鈥檚 the freedom of deciding what the next day holds as you go; maybe it鈥檚 seeing places that the tourist trails don鈥檛 necessarily take you. Head out to The Joshua Tree National Monument if you don鈥檛 believe me. Beautiful and very spiritual.
May your Thirsty Thursday be quenched with peace and love. Man.
Hi Chris (and everyone)
Castro and Bush - it would frighten you to death to think these people are in charge - I really can't think about it, or I'll go crazy.
I had one of those terrible evenings where I got home late, by the time I made a meal (mince and potatoes - a Scots delicacy!) then cleaned up the kitchen, it was 9pm!
I have to confess I did watch "Celebrity" and it would seem that Tracey-Ann's relative is still in! Yes, I know I said I had had enough of reality tv, but I just couldn't resist! It's quite addictive and Ant & Dec are a joy.
Can I just say happy birthday to Hazel - hope you have a terrific day! It's lovely when people make a fuss of you!
Have a good day all.
C xx
This blog has caught Mr E's bug's.............
Sorry - morning all!
Not able to read or post comment until last 10 minutes but then after catching up with the messages - pressed refresh and all the text changed. Don't like that at all. Had to go straight to Jail (without the 拢200) and start from scratch.
Did wonder if earlier if lack of comments was due to the usual suspects converging for a Hazel Love-in for a birthday blog but I suppose as with all good things they come to those who wait. On that note..... Many happy returns of the day Ms Love and to any other's out there who are also celebrating today.
Re yesterday's title to the blog..... then subsequent News item last night re digitally enhanced Wizard of Oz film. Can someone digitally enhance Deadly ballboy so he can dream of six numbers for me tonight? I will share......
PS - I wonder how many ways the commentators on here could come up with to finish Castro off? (Other leaders available).
Happy Thursday people. MW
Hi Chris and Bloggers
I bet I'm not the only one trying your yummy recipe tonight - can't wait!!

umm..... I think I might try your recipe. Looks nice.
Question: Why do dogs suddently decide that certain people who are walking outside, need barking at, when there are others who they simply ignore? Our dog - Lucy - has just gone nuts at someone walking past. so much so that she had to take a break to have a drink of water half way through!
Enjoy The Sound of Music.

Yesterday I didn't get why you were making such a big fuss over somoone that could whistle.
And then when I heard it, I DID get it.
He was so cool - sounded like a nice bloke too.
Happy birthday Hazel
What no Comments? Have you just Posted.
Good Morning Folks!
Joyous Day.
My lovely work Colleage, Denise in Palma has sent me a present this morning, totally unexpected and for no reason other than she seen it and thought of me. Wasn't that nice. She sent me a jar of clotted cream. Through the post. Weird thing too - I just sent her something I thought she'd like too. We must be on parallel wave length.
Wind is howling round the marina. The rain is pelting the window and the boats are all bobbing up and down. But all is good with the world.
My kids are the BEST kids in the world. Seriously. I love them to pieces. Both are thoughtful, kind considerate and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I feel bad that they are out in the rain and cold today. I wish I could keep them wrapped up in cotton, but I can't. The most fantastic thing about them, is that at the relatively young ages of 12 and 15 they are both becoming confident and independent young people. And Guess What? I helped towards that!! I can't be that bad a person.
Good Day to You All.
Nights in are definitely the new nights out, especially when you've got a three year old! Personally I think it's down to the time of year; I love being out and about in the summer, but when the nights start drawing in, so do I.
P-jammies, wood burner and whisky macs are the order of the day (or rather night).
Loved the whistling marvel David Morris yesterday - I remember cringing when my Dad insisted on listening to Roger Whitaker way back when, but David is in a different league! Not sure I'll buy the CD, though - Roger may have scarred me for life...
Afternoon all! You would not believe how stormy it is up in our part of Scotland! I am really panicing that a) we won't manage the drive North to Inverness, b) that the sleeper will be delayed or cancelled! Please God, no!
jillygoat - sending prayers up for your neice - hope her recovery goes well.
{{{Hazel Love}}} - Happy Birthday
MWK - that happened to us when Charis was 7 weeks old - we were driving along Loch Ness side, on a cold, wintery night, and suddenly there were no brakes! So scary when you have a precious, long awaited bundle in the back!!!! Enjoy your day off ... hope you get a good looking plumber!
ChrissieS - Yup ... I'm hooked on Celebrity too! I adore David Gest and Jason Donovan! I think Jan is a wee bitty batty, huh?
Well, Chris - best make it a grand show tonight ... you'll be keeping me sane on the road North .... here's hoping the car problems aren't catching!
Hugs, Susan >
I do not know why but I saw these and thought of Weezie鈥..now where is she?
THE BEST SMART ANSWERS OF 2006
SMART ANSWER #1
It was mealtime during a flight on Hooters Airline.
"Would you like dinner?" the flight attendant asked John, seated in front.
"What are my choices?" John asked.
"Yes or no," she replied.
SMART ANSWER #2
A flight attendant was stationed at the departure gate to check tickets.
As a man approached, she extended her hand for the ticket and he opened
his trench coat and flashed her.
Without missing a beat. She said, "Sir, I need to see your ticket not
your stub."
The whistling article was great! I'm always whistling but it embarrasses my daughter Lorraine when we're out (she's 14).
- Anyway, how about getting Ewan McGreggor to help out on the Whistle Idol thing? There's a great little scene of him whistling 'Danny Boy' in the dark outside a hospital in the film 'Brassed Off' (he'd lost his trumpet playing pool).
Hi blogsters!
I trust you are all well on this Thirsty Thursday?
Happy Birthday Hazel Love - I hope you have a splendid day.
I only joined this blog last week but I am already addicted to it. You all sound like lovely people - mad as hatters - but lovely. I'm not having a particularly great time with my life at the moment and it's theraputic reading your posts. I may even spill about my troubles and see what advice I get back from you!
Back later

Tracey-Ann is running round like a crazy lady today but has asked me to make sure I pop on here and say :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAZEL LOVE !
I鈥檓 sure T-A will pop in and add a much more insightful and interesting post when her work load has diminished but for the time being have a great birthday Hazel Love !
Hey Chris!
Have to agree with you The Secret Millionaire last night was top class TV! It had me in floods too, and maybe there was even tears in my mans eyes aswell. He says not and accused me of being way too soft! But who wouldn't be moved by the sight of the ex-boxer with huge muscles and even bigger hands trying not to show he was crying at the generosity being placed before him? Superb!
And there's nowt wrong with staying in in your 'jamas! I LOVE it! Many a night, when its cold and nasty outside, I get in, get the tea on get into my 'jamas, my best snuggle jumper (the biggest cosiest jumper in my wardrobe) and woolly socks and chill in front of the tele with a book or a good film and chill! Not forgetting my warm toasty blanket! Wonderful!
Hope you鈥檙e feeling better

Just a couple of other wee things:
Susan, good luck with your trip to London - would love to go on the London Eye, but after my trip on the Ferris Wheel in Edinburgh last week, all the best! The Scott Monument on Princes Street is quite magnificent and at the very top there are gargoyles looking over the good folk of Edinburgh. Well, on the Ferris Wheel I was staring these gargoyles in the face! Ooooh it is high! I can only imagine the London Eye is TWICE as high!!
Jax - yes the blog is completely addictive. Chris starts us off and then we just go off on a tangent!
Can I please ask everyone - what does it mean to "refresh" the page? How do you do that? I just log on and off all day, so I feel a wee bit daft if there is an easier way.
Last, to Chris - have a wonderful time with your mum tonight. I would give just about anything to be able to take my mum to the Sound of Music (but she's no longer here) so just enjoy every minute!
C xx
P.S. To Hazel Love - you do know, I suppose, that it's extremely lucky to have your birthday on St Andrews Day! (I think I'm making that up, but what the hell, hope you are having a great day so far).
What a wombat!!!
I posted first n read afterwards!!
Who am I kidding 'young'!! If you can call 39 young then ok. And how cheesy can you get reffering to ones self as 'fun'.Sounds more like a dodgy dating add!!!
Ooops,soz.
Oh Chris, are the Crimbo trees for sale in the usual place??
lv n stuff fix
Just some thoughts:
Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They are both dogs!
What do you call male ballerinas?
If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that Acme stuff, why didn't he just buy dinner?
If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?
Isn't Disney World just a people trap operated by a mouse?
Does pushing the lift button more than once make it arrive faster?
If quizzes are quizzical, what are tests?
Why is there a light in the fridge but not in the freezer?
This is a copy of an email I got sent a while ago, I'm starting a new job on Monday, so am clearing out my inbox as we speak.
THE RULES...
We always hear "the rules" from the female side.
Now here are the rules from the male side.
These are our rules!
*Please note... these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE!
1. Men ARE not mind readers.
1. Learn to work the toilet
seat.
You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down.
We need it up, you need it down.
You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the
changing of the tides. Let it be.
1. Shopping is NOT a sport.
And no, we are never going to think of it that way
1. Crying is blackmail.
1. Ask for what you want.
Let us be clear on this one:
Subtle hints do not work!
Strong hints do not work!
Obvious hints do not work!
Just say it!
1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to
almost every
question.
1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help
solving it. That's what we do.
Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem.
See a doctor.
1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in
an argument.
In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.
1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls,
don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.
1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and
one of
the ways makes you sad or angry,
we meant the other one.
1. You can either ask us to do something
or tell us how you want it done, not both.
If you already know best how to do it,
just do it yourself.
1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have
to say during commercials..
1. Christopher Columbus did NOT need directions
and neither do we.
1. ALL men see in only 16 colors,
like Windows default settings
Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color.
Pumpkin is also a fruit.
We have no idea what mauve is.
1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.
1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing,"
we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying,
but
it is just not worth the hassle.
1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to,
expect an answer you don't want to hear.
1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear Is
fine... Really.
1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are
prepared to discuss such topics as football, the new version of the offside rule, cars or golf.
1. You have enough clothes.
1. You have too many shoes.
1. I am in shape. Round IS a shape!
Thank you for reading this.
Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight;
But did you know men really don't mind that?
It's like camping.
Mornin' all,
Thanks Tracey-Ann for hooking me up to the blog. There were problems this morning, I could not see any comments.....my day would not be the same without tuning into my blog family. I thought the comments had been confiscated by the blog police or something to do with Bond, James Bond!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAZEL - Woo hoooooo !! Enjoy!! We want a full report tomorrow please :-)
Thanks for the recipe Chris, I will deffo give that a go (without the meat of course, maybe I will use tofu).
I know exactly what you mean about walking past somebody's house seeing them all settled in - it makes you want to do exactly the same, especially when they have them jimm jams on!!
George Bush - don't get me started!! You are right, all this stuff IS very perplexing and frustrating!! Bring our troops home!
Anyway, I hope you are feeling better Chris and although you cannot stay in for a while, it will give you something to look forward to when you get back from your tombola trips - I am looking forward to listening next week, should be a blast.
Have a great time with your mum, I lurve the sound of music..I miss my mum so bad sometimes :-(
Yesterday our weather here in Toronto was gorgeous, 16 degrees and sunny, went for a run in my t shirt - great for November!! It is supposed to start and chill off now - maybe the 's' word is on the way !!!
Anyway, thirsty Thursday is here........TGIF tomorrow!!!
Have a great day everyone
Joan xxx
Staying in does certainly seem to be the way forward (unless the day is in need of Celebration....which reminds me - Happy Birthday Hazel Love!)
I stayed in last night and cooked too. Nothing light, sophisticated and delicate though - about 4kgs of homemade sausages. Me and some mates are having a Blazing Saddles evening tomorrow to relive last January's snowboarding holiday (during which we recited lines from the film almost constantly)
I only bought 2kg of beef but by the time all the other ingredients were added and pushed into skins, half the kitchen was laced with sausages! Two batches, the first being Beef, Onion & Chilli and the second lot, Beef, Leek & Stilton. (....really must stop dribbling everytime I describe them ! )
re: cleaning up before people come round. I actually cleaned tiles in my shower yesterday before a builder came to hack them off (i had a flood from the flat above........hold on a minute....is that you MWK ?) What was that all about??!! Shame is a powerful catalyst.....
Happy Thirsty Thursday one and all !

Parker - That's a fine point you make about Wile. E. Coyote!
ChrissieS - thanks for mentioning me. That's my first mention in the blog, Gave me a smiley feeling inside :o)
I'm sure someone else will have answered you by the time I post this but never mind. To refresh your page - if you look at the top of your internet page where the homepage icon is and the back and forward icons are, print icon etc. You will see one that ooks like a page with green arrows in it - if you click on this it will update the page that you are on. Not explained that very well but you may get what I mean.
I love my nights in - seem to be having a lot at the moment but that's the way it goes sometime I guess. I like to have a nice long hot soak in the bath woth my book and a glass of wine before I put on my cosy PJs - bliss!.
To bloggers with their own websites - they're great. I get the feeling I may never do any work again with browsing your sites and reading/writing in this blog!!
Love to all

Hi Ho again,
Chrissie S - just click on the two blue arrows at the top of your screen and it updates the page without having to log off and on again. Don't worry, I am puter illiterate!!! I am forever calling my kids asking them questions.... :-)
DWNB - Your kids sound loverly. Mine are the same, they have turned into two great guys.....great human beans :-), their sense of humour is great (definitely from me!!) We laugh together which is great. I love em sooooo much. I have such a great relationship with them and I am so thankful for that. I am so proud of them both. They are both at Uni but I keep in touch with them on msn and call them. I miss them but they are now grown men, it is hard to say that cos only yesterday they were born!!! So yes, we have done something right and we ARE great people.
Jillygoat, keep us posted about your niece, positive vibes are a'flyin :-)
Jo, my thoughts are with you xxx - and no it is not awful to sometimes wish it was over. It is one of the hardest things to deal with and it is extremely difficult on all levels. So you can feel whatever you need to feel. We are all there with you.
So Hazel ..... Gorillas, and triple X - wow, what more could a girl ask for :-)
Big Un - great laughs as usual :-) Was the gorilla suit hot or was it air conditioned like at disneyworld???

Hello hello everyone,
Great motivational tip for cleaning your house by the way - just imagine the queen is going to be dropping by for tea. Well it works for me.
And does anyone have any ideas for sandwich fillings. I work from home and am so bored by the usual rota of cheese or ham and salad....would really appreciate something new! (though, it has to be quick'n'easy too.)
Thank you! x
Hello all
Thanks for the free recipe Chris. I've passed it on to Dolores, who may use it when training Denise in the kitchen.
In return for your generosity, I've asked Dr Booth to post you a copy of my book-of-the-blog. He tells me it has just gone into the post so you should receive a copy (providing it gets past the front door of 大象传媒 HQ with out being confiscated by someone keen to read about my misadventures themselves) in the next couple of days. I'm telling you this so that if the book doesn't turn up, you'll know something has gone wrong somewhere between Cambridge (from where Dr Booth has dispatched the tome) and London.
I was amused to read that Enzo requires a carrier bag to contain his excrement. Even for a German Shepherd this would be considered excessive. Are you sure he isn't raiding your food cupboard whilst you are away? Dogs are getting smarter with each generation because that's how we are breeding them...

Jax - do come and join us in xanga-land ... then you can leave me comments! Blogging is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo addictive!

Bonjour mes anges!
CHRIS #Head of blog - I've sent you an email if you can help...
TRACEY-ANN'S LITTLE HELPER #30 - Thank you for being there...
JOANNIE #39 - Will be unable to give full report until Tuesday. Plans are such that will not allow typing or any other computer usage. I will try to keep a diary...always assuming I can see to write!
CHRISSIEs #36 - At the risk of sounding too cute, I'm lucky to have my birthday any day! I'm having a fabulous day!
JO #12 - Love to you and Charley xx
MARY #6 - I really hope it was just the bath overflowing and not anything else! Sometimes this '3's' thing can be a right pain...
MAYHEM #33 - The gorillagram was superb...once he managed to unhook his foot from the car door, once we'd mended the fuse for the plug on his boombox (reel to reel), once we'd gone back out to the car to get the tape for the boombox, once we'd unravelled said tape from a tree, once he'd had a cup of tea to calm himself from the drive, and once we'd sorted all that, I had to inform him he was the wrong type of 'gram' to involve baby oil.
The only thing missing today is a Parasiteagram from Dr J McC - hope all is well with you and Dolores Doctor Jo!
Anyway, I need to sign out now as I have many pressing things to do (GABY!!!)
I've had / am having a smashing day today, and would go so far as to say it's SWELL!
Love ya, miss ya til Tuesday (which I believe is the birthday of the lovely, if leaky MWK???) Happy Tuesday morning Mary xxx

Had trouble (like a few people) trying to view the comments.
Had a visit from a friend of ours this morning wanting to use our Broadband connection as his had died. Before he left he let his dog (called Rocky) have a run round outside. It was so funny, he's only about 9 months old and has loads of energy, always used to tire Clive out just by watching him. I think we are going to look after him for a few days while our friend is away. That helps me as I thought I would have to spend a night on my own here in the forest without Clive to keep me company. How we will manage to keep up with his endless energy tho' I do not know. But still we'll have our lads here then, they can help tire him out.
The pasta dish sounds good Chris, I think I'll give it a try.
Jillygoat, I'm glad they know what the problem is, it sounds as tho' they have it sussed.
Jax, yes it is a lovely place.
Just in case you missed my Swedish greetings- Happy Birthday Hazel Love!

p.s. What no Moose today? Must have overdone it at the races, or writing the book.
Hi Chrissey - just like me your life sounds frantic as we aproach THAT time of year again.
I was drooling like most other people reading your Spaghetti Carbonara recipe and have already resolved to make some for myself this very eve.
Like #12 the sky was phenomenal where I live this mornig as I was getting ready to leave the house - it made the kitchen glow salmon pink - unfortunatley I think this is a 'Shepherds' Warning' so we are probably in for some inclement weather.
I have noticed that a lot of the older generation are less houseproud than our generation (my mother in law and step mother in law and parents) as they hae piles of papers and odds and ends they don't know where to put all over the house - they are not in to minimalism so as long as the house is clean and you have soft toilet paper (the type with aloe vera is best for older botties) and a constant supply of tea they are all happy just to be with you.
The SOund of Music with your Mummy should be great - I went to see it at the pictures when I was about 8 when it first came out as a film and loved it but didn't know what a Nazi was really so only remembered the happy bits.
I saw James Bond - Casino ROyale two weeks ago and it was phenomenal - I have only seen James Bond on the TV for years and years so it was so exciting to be in a small cinema with lots of action and the wonderful physique of James to ogle that I didn't eat all my crisps(vegetable ones naturally as a token nod to health).
Remember to take your cough sweets to The SOund of Music you don't want to have a couging fit in a quiet bit!
Have fun
Sal
Hi Chris
I am definately going to try that recipe thanks for sharing!
Well today is a mix bag! I again hope to hearof my payrise for doing my new slightly less arbitary job, so thats definately good!
However, I have been trying to finish my international politics degree through the open university as I got pregnant in the final year of studying at newcastle. But unfortunately I cannot afford to pay the next section of the course this time so will have to wait a year untill I start the next stage!
It is frustrating as I actually like using my brain and studying, it reminds me who I am if you know what I mean? And it is the only way I feel to move forward to doing something I love and maybe getting me and master ben to that run down farm in the middle of no where!
Oh whats a flippin year hey? I will be back on it in no time!
Anyway so very close to the weekend I can almost taste it!
hope all of you out there are well!

Righty Ho, here we are again.
Hazel Love - have a good one. Did you get Thud!? My first pratchett was Mort. Found it in my brothers bedroom - won't tell you what I was really looking for - and something about Death keeping kittens and needing an assistant appealed to me. Have now been addicted to his style of writing for 16 years.
I used to have all the Discworld books in 1st edition, apart from the 1st 2. Came a bit unstuck financially and it broke my heart to have to sell them. Still hey ho. I did get a bit fanatical about them, keeping them in plastic bags, not letting anybody read them and so forth. Whats the point of a book if you can't read it? Gotta let the magic flow from the pages.
Spag carb is fab, but much nicer with Penne pasta as it traps the sauce inside.
I agree with the cosy night in, pyjamas, slippers, roaring fire and in my case hot chocolate. I have to have a roaring fire, no central heating in my house you see, not even got hot running water! The only wood I burn is home grown in the garden and depends on how many storms and high winds we have, as then I chop up the fallen branches and leave them to dry. This year I am running out and its not proper winter yet! Hmm, Chris maybe we can do a deal on any unwanted Xmas trees you have left over.
I like my pjs prewarmed, which means leaving them in front of the wood burner. One night I had done as such, and went to make a cup of tea. It wasn't long before I felt something wasn't right, the air had thickened and there was a distinct smell smoke. My pjs had turned from warm and toasty to just toast. Being fleecy type pyjamas they had turned into plastic and were bubbling away quite happily. Carefully picking them up with my tongs they dripped liquid fire onto the floor which I had to hastily stamp out before the cats were alerted to 'something interesting going on' and coming to help/hinder. On my way out of the house where my intention was to dunk them in the river to put them out they dripped on the curtains and soon they were up in flames also. The smell and smoke generated meant it was time to get the cats out, which they were fairly co-operative about but then sat in the doorway looking at me as though I was some sort of idiot (of course they are absolutley right). I managed, not entirely sure how, to put the curtains out and left them hanging in tattered scorched strips, and left the pjs outside to burn out on their own. That night was a cold one as i didn't put any more logs on the fire and I didn't have any more pjs. Have I learnt my lesson? Of course! I now am the proud owner of no less than 7 pairs of pyjamas, 2 dressing gowns and a multitude of slippers and bed socks.
Cheers,
MW, a!

DAVID MORRIS was genius! I can whistle, though not in tune, so am very envious. Am also envious of anyone who can do the proper fingers in the mouth wolf whistle. In fact I have a list of names in my head, of friends who can WW so that in exciting situations (like gigs and clubs) I know who to ask to WW on my behalf!!
One day, I hope to learn. At the moment I can only slobber.
Happy TT to one and all.

Hi all again,
firstly, Christof, apologies for typo on my first entry today, well it was your name couldn't have been a really long clever word oh no.
Anyhoo,
As gorillas seem to be a bit of a feature today I thought I would share my own rather embarasing experience with a so called gorillagram gift that arrive in my office one birthday many moons ago.
At the time there was a whole lot more of me than there is now, the 'gorilla' turned up, I was actually taller than him, so the effort needed to pick me up, sling me over his shoulder and run off with me was, shall we just say lacking! He then said he didn't want to do this job and they should have told him my weight at the office, he followed this by removing his head, blowing his nose and telling me he had the flu.
I can't tell you how grateful I was to my ex when I got home from work!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY INDEED!
This wasn't the reason he became my ex that happened years later, and I guess the silver linning of that was that at the time of his becomming ex I lost so much weight I became positively skinny. However gorilla was miles away by this stage!
Take care
Nicki
ps Gerogeous guy just rang he's bought 24 bottles of my/our fave Italian Red to put away for Christmas...............................I doubt it'll last that long..........On a Thursday, is he mad!
Hello Chaps and Chapettes and the lovely Chris
Late post today, work gets in the way
Mums
I picked my mum up from the airport yesterday, and so stayed in last night chatting to her, she wouldn鈥檛 succumb, but I was very cosy in my Jim Jams plus fleece and slippers and a G&T ( newly started Atkins Diet doesn鈥檛 allow wine!) However, Cloudy Bay is such a good choice, in our local wine merchant you have to be on the waiting list to buy!
My mum is lovely, when I get home, my ironing will be done, my daughter will be picked up from school and be well looked after, and the little sewing jobs I鈥檓 no good at will be completed鈥.As she says 鈥渢ire the old un鈥檚 out first鈥 so I do! However I do pedicures for her, and bring her breakfast in bed, so it鈥檚 a good exchange.
Therefore missed Wine prog and secret millionaire 鈥 note to self 鈥 remember next week
Bonne Anniversaire Ms H Love (I hope you don鈥檛 find me too presumptuous in saying that, it would be churlish to post and not recognise your birthday when you are so funny)
Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone
See you on Monday (no posting tomorrow 鈥 too busy treating mum to lunch and shopping in Edinburgh)

#6...Mary - so pleased you are ok after your brakes problem last night - how horrible for you - I hope you have had a nice day off, big HUG xx
am sending my plumber round...
#14 Hazel Love - it took me ages to work out what 'a wee whilette' was that the man popped back for. I thought it was a euphemism....phew....sounding intriguing, thought it was a birthday bonus...ooh that reminds me of a funny little story, but it's too rude to post - but it is a true story and it is to do with what my friend's husband said that she could do FOR HIM as a treat as it was HER birthday : ) ...a real classic - she told us group of girls with a dead straight face. Maybe you had to be there.....
#38 Parker - I have a lovely sense of anticipation when I read your posts.... and , in answer to one of your questions - I think a male ballerina is called a 'ballet dangler'. A couple of one-liners came to mind re. the Goofy Pluto question but they definitely wouldn't get passed by the police.
#41 Sigh not Simon ....lol regarding the tile cleaning before the builder visited...... I had the plumber visit just now, I had spent ages cleaning shower cubicle and various other bathroom bits before his visit...lol....

Thank you all for the postiive vibes for my niece - you are all lovely and I'll keep you posted.
The email from NZ included a pic of my niece (Zoe) in hospital clutching her beloved soft toy ladybird which my mum bought for her when she was rushed to hospital with acute appendicitis at 18mths of age. The ladybird cost 25p at a church fete and has never left Zoe's side - so sweet. Poor "Bug" as he's known is threadbare now and there are only a few stitches holding him together!!! Mum bought her another one a few years ago but he's still in the cupboard!!
My internet at work has been playing up so I've only just got back online so if I go quiet, you'll know why.
Have a lovely evening Hazel Love xx
jillygoat xx
oops I've just re read my comment, and it sounds a bit rude to Hazel Love ( and on your B Day as well) what I meant was that I'm relatively new ( to all this blogging business), and so I'm embarressed that you might think I was presumptious>>> Oh my god that sounds weird... I'll stop digging now
Clunk!
Theres the spade in the floor
Happy B Day again anyway ( blush)

Hey chris, glad to see the end of that program had the same effect on someone else!
ChrissieS - glad to be of assistance :-)
Susan - I've had a quick look at xanga land - looks fun. I will look more when I have time - most likely to be this evening for fear of being reprimanded on the amount of work I haven't done today.
DD - I never thought of the F5 key. That's wouldv've been much easier to explain. Your suggestion does remind me of a thought I have every now and then.....

Oh Chris, I love the fact you love a good night in! I was so desperate for time on my own last night.
After whistling my way home in the car thanks to the show (it's as addictive as this blog), I slammed the door, had a baked potato with beans and cheese and a couple of glasses of nice red. Bliss.
Finished the evening off with an episode of Sex and the City, watched on my laptop in bed - yay!
The whistleing was excellent. I was stuck in traffic on Regent Road heading into Manchester at the time and all around there were people in cars with lips puckered as they were trying to whistle along.
a gentleman of you age would take thier mum out for dinner .
then would not have to worry about cooking , although you do like cooking .
taking my dad out tonight as it is thirsty thursday
Can I just say that as a new blogger here, this is a lovely community to belong to.
I love listening to the show, because Chris, Sally, Johnny and Rebecca just have a way of making it feel as if they're with you in the car (that's where I get to listen) just having a chat. Great stuff.
Some more thoughts:
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be "meetings."
There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
You should not confuse your career with your life.
Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just so long as you are up and dancing.
Never lick a steak knife.
The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above - average drivers.
A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.
Your friends love you anyway.
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur made the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.
Nuts whole hazel nuts.. sorry Happy Birthday
DR jmc do you think your talking hedgehog can whistle? If so a bit of Mozart would be nice.
As I'm working late this evening, a little meal idea from my little woman, and big love.
Fry off some mince, and onions if you choose, pre heat oven to 190 degrees. place mince in casserole dish, add peas and other veg to taste, pour in tins of soup to cover. place dish in oven for 50 mins. Boil New potatoes in slightly salted water for 30 mins. Dish up, eat, stuffed and sleepy. If you like it a little spicier add curry powder or chilli powder to taste with soup. Easy meal with full satisfaction guaranteed.
Keeps me happy, and leaves us time to talk (and me to listen) to each other while the oven and the hob do the magic.

Hi there
I鈥檓 a frequent lurker but decided that today is the day I鈥檓 going to jump right in and say hello.
Last nights show had me smiling all the way home. I love whistlers. My fianc茅 is a whistler and I love him all the more for it. I can鈥檛 do it 鈥 no matter how much I try. Think I might walk down the isle to a whistled version of the Wedding March....... lol
I鈥檓 so glad that Mr E mentioned The Secret Millionaire. I鈥檝e been going on and on about it all day. Those newspapers would have us all believe that the world was full of bad people but it鈥檚 just not true. I thought the only positive people in the world were those here on the Shlog but last nights programme gave me faith in humans once more. And I鈥檓 not talking about the rich guy giving away all his money (although that鈥檚 a really nice thing to do) I mean the kids at the youth club. They were all so full of hopes and dreams 鈥 it warmed my heart. I was brimming with tears too Chris.
Well i feel much better for joining in so i'll be back soon.

I've recently re-discovered them, I was a fan in the late 70s and 80s but never got round to replacing the albums with CDs, but I have now and they still sound greeeeat.

If you are ever this way please say Hi .
Jo - wanting it to be over isn't mean at all, you just don't want Charley to suffer any more than he has to - at least we have that choice for our beloved pets.
Not much comfort I know, but we'll all be with you in spirit when the time comes.

Happy Birthday Hazel Love.
Thanks for noticing Lynne.
Congrats for the big'Up mention Big'un.
Was at the second interview today - out of blogging range. Vibes are good so far.
Have enjoyed reading the whole lot right the way through without the constant refreshing and waiting...
I have something controversial to say...
I don't get the whistling. Sorry.
Still, if I say it late enough in the evening no-one will read it. Did I get away with it?
Signing out, I'm knackered.

HBTY Hazey Baby!!!! Only 5 sleeps till mine too!
I've missed the show today as my Mum came round to help me adjust the frock for tomorrow nights party so I'll have to listen tomorrow in the office. It was good for me & Mum to have a bit of a girlie couple of hours though. For anyone that's interested I'm taking the lodger tomorrow and intend to just have a wild party night!! It's the countdown to next Tuesday so we'll all start celebrating in 24hrs time.
I'm going to have a pj's and sofa night tonight and think about the fact that I too am taking Mum to see the Sound of Music next year which was her 70th birthday prezzie from me. Let me know how it goes tonight Chris.
Take care all.....

Evening Bloggers xx
Susa S #26 - It was bad enough happening to me on the main roads, I wouldn't fancy it happening on the road by Loch Ness - nothing to do with Nessy of course :-)
Sign not Simon - mmmmmm are you in the flat below me?........like you and Gaby I too cleaned my bathroom before the plumber got here :-)
Thanks for sending him round Gaby x Do you think Hazel will be kind enough to share her gorilla :-))
Hazel - hope you are having a great time as I write. Plumber solved the problem - leaking pipe under the bath....just wanted to clarify :-)

Now where did I hide my advent callendar so that I wouldn't open it before the 1st :-))
Whenever I can, usually driving after a long day, I listen to your show and have to say for an old fogie I think it is probably the best on radio at present. The rapport with all participants is brilliant, traffic and the fox especially. The David Morris has to be one of the best ever, and your agility and innovation re the whistler competition was a stroke of pure genius.
Cannot whistle for toffee myself, but the thought of every low life staying in to practice whistling for the next 12 months and what that would do for improvement to the quality of life of millions could even make me excited. Pity the interest most of them have in a radio is for one that is not theirs and how much they can get for it!
Hi Christopher and all blogging babes and bobes
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAZEL LOVE. Hope you had a brilliant day.
Always seem to blog just before I go to bed, although I haven't done much lately due to blue mood and other worries.
Just thought I'd tell you about my day today, I work for a company in Wales who provide support for people with learning and physical disabilities. I'm only a lowly PA in comparison to our support workers who do sterling work supporting the people we provide a service to.
Well, a meeting was held today and many of the people we support attended - what a lovely time I had. I felt so humbled by their welcome, and although some of them are unable to fully converse, it just made me so proud to be a small part of their day today. We had tea and biccies, chats and hugs and made plans that hopefully will bring more fun to all our lives - mine included. A GREAT AND FULFILLING DAY.
I loved David Morris yesterday, and also the Flight of the Bumblee section today. But I also like the song that starts:- m mmm m, m mmm m, m mmmm, m mmmm.
Can't whistle so I thought that I'd hum it for you - can't remember the title also but I'm sure you're recognise it from my humming.
Well, anyhow I like it so much. Elvis could whistle too you know - I've watched it on the Tubey thing on the internet. Have you ever seen him in the comeback concert when he's dressed in black leather, looking mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. What a beautiful man. I wish I could've met him.
Hope Mrs. Evans has a lovely time Chris when she comes over - I love my dear mum to bits, and also loved my darling dad to bits also.
HUGE SHOCK when he died when I was 29 and 34 weeks pregnant. Just remember thinking that I'd never see him again - and 18 years later still can't believe it. Life is so hard at times - but we all had to go on for my mum 'cos he was the love of her life and young widowed at 54 - not fair at all. She still says this today.
Sorry seem to be a bit maudlin today. Will have to think of that song - I'll hum it in my head.
When my mum comes over for a visit, she can always pick out a picture that is not straight on the wall - even if I've spent the whole evening prior going round them all with a spirit level getting them just so. And guess what - some gremlin must come out at night and move the blinking things - cos she's always right, they're mostly ski-wiff again.
Mind you - the spirit level is my late dad's. Maybe I should buy another one as I know for a fact that he dropped it in the cement mixer once, quite how he managed that I don't know as it was one of those 3 ft ones......
It's absolutely pouring with rain above my head - cos I'm sat beneath the velux on our landing. Absolutely throwing Fatty, Skinny, Enzo and Lassie - my cats, Chris' doggie, and the doggie off the telly. It is really..... (Cats and Dogs).
I really love the jokes you bloggers put out for our delectation - but I can't even remember the long ones - only the one liners, and that can be a task at times. Peri-menopausal brain I think.
Right then - bo-bos again. So I can get up for work in the morning.
Hope you all sleep well, and once again Happy Birthday Hazel.
Lots of love to one and all - especially Christopher and Enzo for making all this chatting possible.

Hi all
Happy Friday!
I had a superb birthday and I'm just off to bed now...
You are all fantastic and it wouldn't have been half as much fun without you...BIG thank you xxxxxxxxxx
Bon nuit

Good morning yawning
WOW Hazel Love - what a birthday!!! - off to bed at 7am!! - bravo mon amie : ) Glad you had a wonderful time x
Myra - I really hope the sun starts to shine for you very soon x
Well, I was tossing and turning most of the night - which is more that I can say for Warnie. I resisted the temptation (just) to get up and join the Barmy Army (via satellite) but when it came to 6am - I could resist no longer.
What a joy it was to watch Collingwood and Pieterson hitting Warnie round the park, despite the fact that he tried to scare us with his googlies. I expect the slow, dry pitch may be blamed. I did feel a little guilty watching Sky after our chats last week : (
Anyway, laters - good day to you all - I could do with a glass of that grappa - seemed like a hearty fuel!!
Gaby

ps had to smile when one of my daughters came downstairs to catch me watching the cricket - she took one look at Warnie bowling round the wicket and said 'why isn't he throwing the ball properly' : )
pps pomme de terre
Morning all xx
Wow Hazel sounds like a fantastic birthday, pleased you had a great time xx
Haven't slept a wink all night for the wind and rain here :-( Need an energy pill, badly :-)
Myra hope things get better soon xx
Happy Friday all xx
Take care
Love Mary xx
OMG. 1st day of December and to placate my two little ones, I reach for the 'Bob the Builder' christmas DVD this morning only to discover that you have a leading role! How did I not notice that before? Whats all that about. Great recipe, BTW. Gunna have to give that a try.
Hey Christoph,
Did you know today is POETS Day? No
Well it is...
Push Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday Yippee...
I told this to a Swedish company rep we deal with and the response was.
What POET do you celebrate? Wordsworth?
Doh, will they never learn.
Byeee
Hi Chris I am about to e-mail the show but thought the blog might also be a good idea. You say about special people and I been desperate to tell you about my special person my niece Emily Huxtable, you met her once when you had a place in Kent!
Along the Seven Mile Lane you stopped in a restaurant call The Old Beech Inn and she was there with her brother as their mum my sister was working there and you kindly had a chat with them they were only tots then.
Well a long time has passed since then and she has grown up to be a fantastic ambassador for today鈥檚 youth
This year she has: -
Completed a World Challenge with her school helping children in South America,
Run the London Marathon for the Diabetics Association
With all funds raised by herself
And next Monday she embarks on her travels. She is off to Mongolia on her own! She鈥檚 only 20!!
Staying with a family in their big round tent as a gap year project learning about their culture and looking after their goats
I tell you Chris I don鈥檛 think any body could be more proud of her other than her mother and me
Well done Emily I say
Hi from Mazza my first time on the blog. Can someone answer the question posed Thursday night on the show about curly wurlies. are they smaller now than they were in the seventies. My friend has been asking me this question for the past few years and I didn't have time to wait for the answer when it was asked on the show. I would love to have the answer to stop her repeating the question to me year on year!
A remedy that I think is wonderful is the use of Manuka Honey from New Zealand. It makes me feel so well. Try it and you won't be sorry. (unless you are allergic to honey).
Hi Chris. You very kindly played Tequila by Terravision for me on your show on Friday, to try and get me to dance round my lounge and get my overdue baby on the way. Well, I would love to tell you that it worked and that night I had given birth to a bouncing baby boy and called him Chris after you.........but I would be lying!! After being convinced, absolutely convinced that it was going to happen on Friday night, I went to bed sure that I would be off to hospital in the middle of the night, and woke up the next day, minus the twinges that I had been having the night before. After a hectic weekend (I have a son and three step children, ranging in ages from 5 to 15) of football (watching Ipswich town), christmas trees and decorations and the usual Yuletide festivites, it is now Sunday night and this baby is no closer to being born than I am becoming the next Prime Minister. So I am not exactly HP at the moment, being the size of a small country and very uncomfortable.
I really hope that you tour around the UK etc next week is fabulous. By the way, in my dream on Friday night you were a checkout assistant at my local Coop Fiveways. Bizarre!
Take care and have lots of fun next week.
