THE BIRDS, THEY TWITTER IN THE MORNING, ME, I PICK MY NOSE.

Chris Evans | 06:01 UK time, Tuesday, 6 February 2007

Can’t sleep, too excited. Honestly, I actually woke up due to overexcitement. This is a first for me….

….Over excited about today – The Once a Month Club is tonight, can’t wait to see the other two founder members, it’s been…oooh a month.

Over excitement about the show, we have made a new discovery…shhh, mum’s the word.

Overexcitement about two things I may be buying.

Overexcitement about going to watch Ireland England in a couple ‘o’ weeks time.

Overexcitement about a week off I have in March and what I’m going to do with it.

I want to do five things in five days, I’ve already decided three of them :-

Have a day gliding.
A tandem parachute jump.
Climb Snowdon…

And I could do with a hand for the next two. Any ideas ?

Haven’t said much about this but have radically changed my lifestyle over the last six weeks and have felt better than I have done for years. Life is too sweet not to be here for as long as one can.

I have a killer salad at lunch time every day now. It’s so tasty, when it arrives it smells so sweet and yummy, I never thought a salad could be so mouth watering. I’m already looking forward to it, in fact my tummy just rumbled.

I’m sleeping for longer, I’m making better decisions, I feel I’m more myself, not afraid to be quite and listen and just wait until I have something to say.

The world is indeed a crazy place, there’s never been more reason for us to be sane.

CLP. X

P.S. Went to see Babel last night, now there’s a movie.

P.P.S. What about those trawler men !

P.P.P.S. You Tube - Jamie Oliver tries to make a salad in the back of his VW CAMPER whilst the STIG drives hime round the track...

I recently started volunteering with the Girl Guides, and it's as ace as a 'grown up' as it was as a kid! If you were ever a cub or scout, maybe you'll have fond memories you want to help some else to have too?

I love listening to the show from here in Dubai, you're the perfect bedtime companion!

    Morning!

Wow if I'd had any idea you were going to be up so early I'd have logged on ages ago! Sounds like you're starting a whole new life, new home, new ideals etc.

2 days and nothing to do......... Well apart from the fact that we'll all be v.sad that you won't be around to cheer us up for 2 hours a day that week. How about having a day doing something you used to do as a kid, (as I don't know what sort of stuff you used to do I can only imagine) like skateboarding... but with kids who do it now and think it's the meaning of their life (for now at any rate). Or you & Enzo could come and spend a day with me & my bears, we could go foraging on a beach somewhere?

Whatever the case it's great to know you're enjoying your life...

    Morning Chris and everyone,

I woke up early today but that was more due to nerves than excitement. I've decided to become a childminder and yesterday had a call from the OFSTED inspector! She's coming next Thursday and I'm a nervous wreck, my house is a tip and I've got lots to do!!

Did anyone else see the programme about children who are carers last night? Depressing stuff I thought. Poor kids.

Morning everyone. Its -3 on sunny suffolk. Just had a dodgy journey to work - the sun's so low in the sky half my drive was quite literally blinded. Yikes!

2 free days eh CLP? Jainie's idea of volunteering sounds good - you could p'raps dedicate some time to a dogs home, seeing as how Enzo is now a huge part of your life. After all that high-octane stuff, I'd plump for a chill out spa day - a whole day of white robes and fluffy slippers ........

Got a busy day today, more's the pity as I feel shattered - and it's only Tuesday.

Oh - listened to Mika's album on the way to work - very Scissor Sisters but also VERY good. That boy's gonna be HUGE!!!!!

    Will check back laters amigos!

Golly, you were up a whole 45mins before me this morning!

It is one of my laws (that unless I've not actually gone to bed yet...) that I don't get up that early...ie before 6am...unless I'm going on holiday, or it's for something special!

It is lovely to wake up and get up when you feel really good rather than roll over for 'another ten minutes' then wake up feeling like pants for the rest of the day!

Unlkie Ashy, after a cuddle with the boy, I woke up to a cold wet drizzly world outside, and think some of the kids must be on half term as the roads were fortunately not too heavy so got to work relatively on time for once!

I'm so glad for you that you are feeling better. I hope the 'hospital' person is too. I think you hit a real low point last week...

An idea for one of your days...why don't you go to a cookery school? I seem to remember you went once before? Go to one at a Buddhist Retreat (if they do them) or somewhere similar, and learn how to cook some lovely meals for your new lifestyle.

Likewise, my friend goes to a Buddhist Centre a few times a year (she's not Buddhist, but finds the atmosphere totally regenerating) as a volunteer. All she does is make tea, help with the meals and washing up, and goes for lovely walks.

There are a couple of things for you to think about. I'm sure there'll be hundreds more by the end of the day!

Enjoy your day Christophe, unpack a few more boxes, and run to the end of your new garden and back a few times just because you can!

I love having days off and planning what to do with your week in advance, i always spend one day just doing a bit of baking, I love to make a few pots of homemade jam and have it on some fresh homemade bread :0) Or the volunteer thing is a great idea, most towns have a volunteer centre that you can ring up and they arrange everything for you, they give some great ideas and give you all the contact info needed all jyou need do is turn up! A woman and a man are involved in a car accident; it's a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.

After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, " So you're a man. That's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but we're unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days".

Flattered, the man replies, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely, this must be a sign from God!" The woman continues, "and look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune." Then she hands the bottle to the man.

The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle and immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man. The man asks, "Aren't you having any?" The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the police.... Well done for making the changes in your lifestyle! That's inspirational and will hopefully encourage some of us to get our act together! I've decided to take up jogging, so need to work on hubby to get a pair of running shoes .... and a sport's bra! And we definately have to get our eating sorted out! I just find salad so boring! However ...we watched a really interesting programme on ´óÏó´«Ã½2 last night Grow Your Own Veg, with Carol Klein, 'renowned plantswoman and Gardeners' World presenter'! She was growing her own onions, leeks, etc and salad leaves! So hubby told me we are going to grow our own veg. I love the Trawler Men! What a hard life, eh? My cousins are in Peterhead ... is the accent really that hard to understand, that it needs subtitles?!? That always makes me snigger!

I soooooooo wish Charis would let me sleep longer! Enjoy your rest! My Mum says, 'Bed's a wonderful place' .... every night!

Well ... best go and get the hoover out - Charis has her breakfast all over the floor again! She's sitting playing with a basin full of water just now!

Have a great day, Chris! Thanks again for a smashing blog!

I used to hate salads as a kid, as they were always so boring both at school and home. There were neat slices of tomato, cucumber and beetroot, next to a couple of lettuce leaves, and usually a slice - or two if you were lucky - of ham (which I hate) or cheese.

Nowadays I can eat salad because it gets all mixed up together and tossed in dressings and it looks altogether more interesting that it used to. I add warm chicken and bacon to mine, with avocado, warm sliced new potatoes and pine nuts, and it's deelish.

There are few better feelings in life than getting on a wave - seriously you must try it if you haven't already done so.

To be fair the water in the UK is very cold in March but with a decent wetsuit you'll be fine. There are many good places to surf in the South of England and North Devon (not too far from you) is one of the best.

Once you've got in the water a few times I am sure you will want to do little else with your weekends.

A word of warning though, don't get one of those massive power kites, you could land yourself in some very deep water with one of them (eg the Channel!)

Alternatively you could go tree climbing - something that I used to love doing as a chilkd but can't now - Where are all the big tree's these days?

Oh Chris! I'm excited too today and I've just booked my first break of the year - 4 nights in a beautiful wee hotel in a secret place in Cornwall and if it's warm enough after that our first spot of camping of the year or random pub lodgings. We set off in the car early doors on your birthday and will drink ginger beer all the way there in your honour! xx

I do think you should raise money for charity and offer the other half of your tandem sky-dive on an auction for comic relief. You'd raise a fortune. Another option I would recommend is drag racing (it doesn't involve dressing up as a woman though, t'ant pis). One of the best days out I've had. Very sexy.
As several people have suggested already I think that a meditation retreat would be a great idea. It would have to be done before the sky-dive though and you would get even more from the sky dive having mediated. It's all about inner and outer stuff. Too much to explain. There's a place I use not too far out of London that George Harrison bought for this particular buddhist group following his time in India with the Beatles. What a guy. (Download Jake Shimabakuro playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps on Ukelele from You Tube). xx

That's the two ends of the spectrum covered and now my suggestion for a very normal day out. Drive your mum down to Hastings (or similar seaside resort - I just happen to have a thing about Hastings) in your best two seater. Have a take away fish and chip lunch (in paper) at The Dolphin in the old town (not the pub) (you'll queue for at least half an hour and thank me for the privilege when you eat the food). Walk to the left and into the harbour and see the boats that would have brought in the fish you're eating and marvel at the fantastic tradition that these guys struggle to keep going as the families they were born into have done nothing else for generations. Speak to Paul Joy, their spokesman, whose ancestors go back to the dinosaurs! Then about turn and go up to the pier taking in stunning views of Beachy Head straight ahead of you and get to the end of the pier by 6pm (sunsetish time) for the bingo. There's no better way to blow away the cobwebs and see how such a little place can offer so much....the place where the first ever TV broadcast was made by John Logie Baird in 1927......the place with the steepest funicular railway in Europe......the place with one of the eleven remaining piers in Britain (the pier that The Stones, The Beatles, The Who, The Doors all played on in the 60's and 70's)......the place that still has a working fishing harbour that's bee teher since setller's first came......the place that was home to Alistair Crowley beacsue of it's magical qualities......now home to The Society of Metaphysicians (for whom I worked for the years that I lived there) possibly for the same reason.....the place where the battle was fought that left England French rulked for 300 years.....home of the Winkle Club of which the Queen Mother was the only female member and patron - an hilarious society. The impact of this place is phenomenal yet so understated and that's a big part of it's beauty. It's not thrust down your throat, you discover it. I think I've just written a documnetary!
Let me know what you make of it.

Looking forward to the show tonight. Play my gobsmackers pleeeeease!

Wow Chris - you are cooking on gas!

An idea for your spare two days. You've got to have a go on this thing called 'SimVenture' - it's this brill new software game where you create and run your own business - it's phenomenal.

You'd be ace - if you're a Champ Manager fan you'll love this. Just go to the website with the name in and get a download.

Otherwise, how about caving in Ingleton followed by a trip to the legendary Hill Inn for a post celebration beer?
