319 our old address and yet another bloggy.

Chris Evans | 15:04 UK time, Thursday, 3 July 2008

Scales tipped at....

12 st. 7 something. Now that's less than the legendary 12. 8 my none television figthing weight. Workout nearly killed me and the bloke I was with, who's ten years younger and thousands of pints less abused.

Got a meeting in a mo' with the people who want us to do a cinema advert, haven't read the stuff I was supposed to, yikes.

Hot outside and once again the morning shows' teams shouted over to me from a beautiful outside table at the little Italian over the road, bottles of chilled white wine strewn all around. Totally not fair.

Lord march on the show tonight with a huge surprise for those lovely people who successfully bid for tickets for this years DRIVETIME, DINE AND DISCO, he is a top man and they are going to be dead chuffed.

Alas the Murraymeister, twas not to be. In fact let's face it, he was trounced.

Off to the posh car do again tonight and then back to the trailer and Mrs. E. who is off to her first puppy class tonight, with a big huge ex policeman.

Enzo says hello and is still smiling that doggy smile through it all.

Taking Noel the vet out tomorrow, the poor boy needs reminding there really is another world out there.

CLP.

2008.

Thanks for the top tip CtD. I am now the proud owner of 2 tickets for the 2nd August. If you are gonna go for it phone the number, don't do it online. The nice chap told me exactly where he had 2 seats together and sourced the best ones for me.

    See you there???

Yeah I know I put this on the other blog, but as always CLP put his newbie up 3 minutes after I've finished saying what I wanted to say. Oh, and it was more expensive on t'other page but just got me bill and this is correct.

    Chris,

Always a great show. I always make a point of tuning in from here in the US like many other expats, I'm sure. I only listen to radio 2. None of the US stations come close.

I suggest the Huey Lewis song A Couple Days Off. It should get us all going for the weekend.....

Could I please request Wham and Wake Me Up Before You GoGo?

I would like to hear it with my little man to cheer him up a little. We thought he was going to be on tv tomorrow but we were sent the wrong dates (good job I thought to email and check!).

Instead of sitting by the tv at 5pm, we will be by the radio in the kitchen hoping that you will please play it for him.

And I haven't brainwashed him with George Michael honest....it was his choice I asked him to pick a song!

Back to catch up posts later, been out all afternoon.

    Hi Chris,

Please please please have Go West by the Pet Shop Boys? I got as far as talking to Naughty Nick about it the other week, but I obviously didn't impress because something LedZepplinny/black Sabbathy got played instead! Gutted! It's such an over-the-top, sing you-head-off in a daft way song. Please.

It's going to be Friday just after five, work's finished for the weekend to begin and what more can you ask for than.......Zoom by Fat Larry Band. Can't wait to hear it Chris!

I've been poked twice today once by B's Mum and once by the Diva. Cheers ladies.

I know a song that'll get on your nerves! Get on your nerves! Get on your nerves! But it'll still put a smile on your face for the start of the ARF.

How about "The JCB Song" (other makes of construction vehicles are available) - by Niz-blah blah blah-i.

or as I'm hopefully (weather permitting) going to watch a Motown/Blue Brothers tribute night in the open air near Aylesbury. Have a little "Respect" - Aretha!

And now I read that Noel the vet needs reminding etc.......

ARF: Chris, please play Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall - it's one of my 'sing along LOUDLY and OFF KEY in the car' songs, perfect for a Friday and as a warm-up for the D Spot!

Evening bloggers new and not so new - excuses for not being here for a while? I can only come up with work, other stuff, work again, the usual, plus by the time I've caught up with the blog I need to catch up on my sleep! So forgive me for sticking with the recentish past:

MfR - good luck at the M

Debbie - what a pain about the ceeeeebeeeebeeeeeies and their scheduling, hope little man isn't too disappointed

B-s Mum - how do you ever get anything done with the phone going off all the time?!

MWa, third time lucky ARF maybe??

Glad to see Bingo's still around and that Coco's back from hols, as for CtD and EJR, what a laff! Love the general flirting/not flirting stuff too! Gingembre, we'll need you to keep order soon, as well as the blog p'lice!

Tinsel - have you found the kettle yet or are you still unpacking??

Can't get to Reading next weekend (have fun!) but London in October sounds possible. Have been busy booking places to stay on way to and from the auntie's place in v v v NW Scotland at the end of the month. Only away for a week so am making the best of it and found some good-looking places, well they look alright online but will they disappoint in real life?!?

Am looking forward to Hampton Court Flower Show next Friday, going for the 4th year in a row, and with 2 of my best friends: laughs galore and food, drink and gardens, bliss! Oh, no, but we'll miss ARF 'cos we'll be tiptoe-ing through the tulips/in the Country Living tent thingey, helping ourselves liberally to free food and drink samples like last time, haha!

Well, it's only just 9pm but I've have had enough for today. Thank goodness I can work from home tomorrow, chance to get some extra kip and get some housework done before logging on at 9am.

Night-night everyone, night-night. This is AnnieOakley signing off and handing you over early to the insomniacs and nightowls, to the tune of 'Sailing By', a la R4...

  • Comment number 68.

    Anyway.

Before being Bingoed, I had so much to say.

Dependent upon a text message tomorrow, I could be about to make the biggest career decision of my life.

I need to do this. It may not be goat-herding in Finland or tequila-producing in Baja California, but it offers me something that I haven't had for far too long.

A real reason to get up in the morning. A sense of purpose. A hunger.

I need to wake up knowing that what I am good at can be put to good use, that I can make a real difference to the business that pays my wages. Meanwhile, Mrs MfR drives our own business forward, so hand-in-hand, we walk forward together.

Literally. Because that is what we do.

We're a bit like that, you see.

For an paranoid, depressive insomniac, I sound pretty damn positive!

I've just started reading a rather good biography of Howard Hughes. Normally, with biogs, I skip past the 'so and so was born in....and went to school in....' bits and dive straight into the juicy stuff, but this is gripping from the outset.

    By the way. While I am thinking about it, make sure you put this place on your travel list, if you haven't been already;

    Hearst Castle, San Simeon, California.

    Stunning, stunning, stunning.

Fly to San Fran, grab a car and head south on the Pacific Highway. Stop at a place called Ragged Point.

    You won't regret it.

Apologies for my ramblings. I am a bizarre combination of excited and nervous.

Oh. And I've had a glass of wine.

    Your friend

    MfR

    Anne.

    Being Bingoed.

OK. The blog was changed a couple of months ago and you had to sign in to post.

One of the upsides (or downsides, dependent on which side of the fence you sit) was that your post would appear instantly.

But. A problem occurred whereabouts posters scribbled their words and the posts disappeared. I was one of the first to experience this. I then discovered that if you posted one line at a time, the posts went through.

Our friend Bingo was also an earlier sufferer and, alas, is still afflicted.

Hence, he posts one line at a time.

    'Bingoing'.

I seem to have been cured, but sometimes, 'bingoitis' strikes. B's Mum, MwK and others, I'm sure, will all tell of their experiences.

And so, the term, 'Bingoed' enters the English language.

And on that note, I must go to bed.

Although, I don't expect to sleep much.

    So nothing changes there, then.

    Love

    MfR

    CtD,

I am really very pleased and happy and excited for you. I phoned Errol after booking and he said he had never heard me so excited or giggly before. Said it sounded like I was jumping up and down and dancing in circles whilst speaking to him.

    Truth is, I was!

Then I went and slipped into something a little more comfortable and a little more red, which was inside out at the time, only to reveal 'Carlsberg' and a little cockerel emblazoned across my bosom.

Oh the shame!!! But it pleased Errol very much.

    fancy a pre-match beer? I'll have a J2O.

Busy weekend ahead, my crew-partners leaving doo tonight, starting at 530 with some food then who knows? Bit sad really as we've worked together for over 4 years on our 'beat' and I'm gonna miss him. Nights will never be the same!!!
Tomorrow, MrsW and me are off to a wedding reception and then Sunday I will be packing my kit up for my 2 week trip to the rehab centre ay morning. Really nervous/excited about it but keep reminding myself that it may not be the golden ticket to full fitness.
As I've said, I don't think I'll have internet access down there so will be in Reading on the 12th. Gaby has my mobile no. so can always text me the venue, if not fb me and I'll send it to you too!

    Hi Chris
Please please play the title track from that fabulous 1970's musical Ipi N' Tombia - just the thing to get the weekend mood going. Margaret Singana was a musical genius and I wish the musical powers that be would revive this show.
Thanks very much from the sunny Scottish Highlands.

    Morning, morning, morning :)

Now I know we should not laugh at other fears but I am sorry, I just can't help it. Apologies for any one suffering from koumpounophobia but this is the oddest phobia I have yet to find (the search (or should that be shirt) continues). So to all those suffering, I am not laughing AT oyu..I am laughing ....well frankly...at you. Sorry. x

yes, I know no sane ´óÏó´«Ã½ show would play it to start a show but just imagine everyone in the country subconsiously banging their noggins, thrashing their air guitars and singing along!!!! Awesome. And one of the world's finest driving songs.

I too, en route to work this fine morn, changed my ARF mind. I would very much like to hear ....

I got here with the help of the Appetite album and the blokes beside me in the white van at the roundabout were rather amused at my stadium-esque driver-dancing efforts. Therefore, I feel the whole of the UK should indulge in some GnR diver-dancing at 5 o'clock this arvo.

But Motorhead's good too - almost wore my MH t-shirt today but decided a little white number was more fitting of the sunshine!

Glad to be keeping you all amused!
