Chris Evans | 15:10 UK time, Wednesday, 9 July 2008

Not done one for ages but they haven't changed, better though, everything seems better...

...photo shoot. And for one of the big boys GQ none the less.

Photo shoots, proper ones, are one of the few things in showbiz that are exactly as you might imagine. Always located in a huge warehouse, loud, loud music even at eleven o'clock on a dismal grey summer Wednesday morning. Assistants everywhere, bottled water, herbal teas, a whole drinks fridge, fruit, choccies, anything to make the experience go with whatever swing is required. The stylist, a man this time, faye but not gay, married in fact with a little 'un and another on the way. The hair and make-up lady, the person with the toughest job when it comes to me, bubbly bright, full of details about the last shoot, Ramsay - "so much energy."

Then there's the boss, the cool young dude from the mag, Welsh Paul. A friend of an old friend of mine. Very good looking, lovely demeanour and a wicked taste in eighties cheese. His ipod is running the show. Actually it's more or less running mine tonight as well. The writer, with a shoot comes a chat, aged 27 - ebullient, intelligent, romantically heavy, they can be writers. Finally, the daddy of the deal. The snapper, always the iceman, two aids and a whole lot of rosie.

Good fun?

Actually yes.

The product?

Find out this October issue, available September.

    Afternoon CLP.

Ah, photo shoots. I remember them sort of vaguely. Good fun and less hard work than promo girling.

Still do the odd sitting now and again for a proper bonio fido artist. Generally not as quick as a photo shoot, speshially when he's doing oils. (I'm no oil painting, oh, wait, actually I am!).

Enjoy reading blog 322. Think it may make you chuckle.

    MW, a!

Nightmare of photoshoot I was on - ended up looking like Chandler Bing on Friends when he was trying to get his engagement pic taken with Monica. They should have given up on me too and picked Joey!!

  • Comment number 27.

According to the news older people still like sex.... it's on the bbc news website honest.

Thankyou thankyou thankyou sooo much for the wonderful pun session you did on blog 322 - I had a stitch in my side from giggling so much at all the entries - after reading the first bit I refrained from getting any hot drinks or food until I got to the end.

    You are all stars.

CLP your blog with behind the scenes information about your photo shoot was lovely to read and good luck with the magazine article that will no doubt go with the pictures.

I've been out all day and my interview at the glasshouse yesterday has meant I've got an absence note for you to make up for my missing presence - not that you lot would have noticed in any case. I suspect I am one of the boring ones that JenEwan is on about. Sorry not an interesting day by day to blog about.

  • Comment number 28.

Phoenix: Thought I was the boring one. Have to admit, I do bore myself sometimes.

Sex and older people: Why not? I'm a (little bit) older person and have a male companion for outings, conversation and fun times in Newcastle, and a male friend for other stuff!!

    I have a lovely life.

that it a lot less boring then being sat at your desk at work at this time of night waiting for your manager (who is at home) to reject or approve your journals!

trust me - its why bean counters get paid what they do (and its not as much as everyone thinks)

The last blog was great, you guys really were on top form!

Little man was so sweet in his concert. Looked so angelic! I have posted pictures on fb but they are not great, I'm terrible at taking photos and don't get on with that camera.

AnnieG - a toyboy! You naughty girl that's brilliant!

CtD - sorry for the echo earlier, annoying I know.

Gingember - glad that the rehab is working for you.

Everyone else - have a lovely evening whatever you are doing.

  • Comment number 44.

Great news Debbie - congrats to the little man

  • Comment number 45.

okay - to liven things up a bit -

what three men/ women would you like to spend 'quality time' with?

my three as agreed by Mr bp

    1 Damon Albarn
    2 Johnny Depp
3 either Christian Bale or fav of the week - this week David Tennant

AnnieG - never been into the toyboy thing myself - I like them older (as my list shows - I am still under 30 so most are at least 10 years older)

    super bp x

  • Comment number 46.

    Okay SBP here are mine:

    1. Terry Pratchett (I have all his books)
    2. Ewan McGregor
    3. Prince Albert of Monaco

Youngest I would go for would be within 5 years of my own age no younger. Mind you I don't like anyone over 10 years of my age either so a bit stuck really.

*reminder to make time for dating written in diary*

I have all of TP's books as well and have aslo met him at a book signing - lovely chap - shame about the alzimers!

i don't actually stalk famous men I promise - I just get very lucky sometims

    super bp x

  • Comment number 50.

I have two or three signed ones of TPs and enjoyed meeting him - I agree it is a shame that someone like him who brings such pleasure to many is struck down early.

We also have Wincanton nearby which is twinned with Ankh Morpork in reality and hosts events twice a year.

  • Comment number 51.

Alzheimers is awful. But, I've decided that I would rather suffer from that than just get physically old. My Gran and Aunt suffered (and died) from Alzheimers in nursing homes. My mother just got physically older, with her mind intact. That was so much worse.

Have now decided if I have to die (and I might not folks) I want to go with Alzheimers. You don't have a clue what's happening (after the initial awful time) and my Aunt had quite a nice time at the nursing home.

I want to go out with a bang - a jazz band playing on top of the hearse and a party for all my friends and family. Way to go!!!!

    XXXXX

  • Comment number 52.

I'm convinced I'm going to die young - not sure why - maybe its the curse of the young - I cannot see myself as old!

  • Comment number 53.

SB: I used to feel like that - couldn't imagine myself living past 40 because that seemed sooooo old! Unfortunately, its not. And you have to keep going. If you're lucky!

    xxxxx

  • Comment number 54.

    Don't agree re Alzheimers.

I found it soul destroying to sit with my grandfather and have him forget who I was halfway through a conversation.

On the other hand there is not a lot of dignity left one the body has decided that enough is enough, especially if the mind is still intact.

Better to go out in a blaze of glory. Heart attack in a lap dancing club with a large Scotch in one hand and a Cuban cigar in the other maybe?

    Aged 95!

  • Comment number 55.

    Easy Peasy

In first place we have the gloriously gorgeous Johnny Depp

In second place we have the smoulderingly sexy Steven Tyler

And in third place we have the titilatingly tasty George Clooney

    Mw, a!

  • Comment number 56.

Ted: At least you don't know what's happening once the initial stage has gone. There is absolutely no dignity left when the mind is clear and the body is deteriorating.

Yes, let's go out in the pub, heart attack while dancing to the Rolling Stones.

    Anne xxx

  • Comment number 57.

I have witnessed my partners grand parents both dying last year and my frandad this year and there is no eay way of going - each time was hard for the family and although it was expected it was still ghard to lose a loved one - even when they have been 'lost' for years before they go.

I'm now short a grandad as I have lost all of mine - anyone out there that can help?

    super bp x

  • Comment number 58.

My 3 kids shake their heads at me on a regular basis.

I am lucky enough to have two nan's left - but one more won't hurt!

I enjoy spending time with them and hearing stories - if you have any stories to share I would love to hear them,

with my Nanna - when she turned 80 - we got as many stories from her as possible as it is family history!

  • Comment number 60.

going home now - only been here for 12 and a half hours :-)

Oh god SB: I'm not that old. I'm still living my own life and not telling my kids half of it.

Might write it down one day.

  • Comment number 62.

    Hello again

Forgot totally that I was asking about school reunions earlier. The reason behind it was that for the first time I have been asked to one. With plenty of time for a diet first thankfully.

I was bullied too for the first few years at school. I was painfully shy and this got mistaken for being stand-offish and I was called a 'snob'.

From 13 onwards though they found someone else to pick on and I had a great time after that. Sixth form particularly was a blast, loved it.

I fancy facing this people actually so I may just go along. The girl that became my best friend at school contacted me via fb, so with her there too it will be great I think.

Anyway, off to watch MPW now
    Debbie x x

  • Comment number 63.

Now hang on just one hot diggity darn minute!

Last time I looked we were talking about 3 top 'quality time' people. I send in my rather trivial post only to find we have moved onto Alzheimers, loss of dignity and death.

I lost all of my grandparents by the time I was 7. My pappy on my dads side I never knew as he died when my dad was very young. I lost an auntie to Parkinsons, which was really quite heart breaking. When she retired all she wanted to do was walk her dog and paint more wonderful pictures. Within a week of retiring the dog died, and she was diagnosed with Parknsons which mde her shake so much she never picked up a paintbrush again. She will always be Laughing Lady to me though.

I have been lucky to not have anyone close to me be a sufferer of Alzheimers, but I am fairly certain that it is not an easy way out. For me, well I hope to go in my sleep in the arms of the man I love. I want Don't fear the Reaper and November rain played at my funeral and I want my coffin to be made out of cardboard so friends and family and write on it. Also I want the coffin to be printed in leopard print. Then I want half my ashes turned into a diamond, and the other half used to plant an Oak tree that I have grown from an acorn. I'm nothing if not prepared!

    MW, a!

  • Comment number 64.

MW,a! Now that is the way to go! How did we get on to this?

Who's going to be alive tomorrow and what interesting thing are they going to do?

    Anne xxx

  • Comment number 65.

I've been a bit distracted with Youtube ...

I've lost all my grandparents now most lived until their 70/80s but all went extremely fast including my own dad who had a heart attack and according to my mum had gone before they put him in the ambulance but as an ex fireman what a way to go the road had two ambulances, a fire engine and the paramedic so he went out in style.

So I'm definitely short a few grandparents so if any are available I'd say yes please as they had such interesting lives.

I've not tracked down the original diet coke windowcleaner.... hmmm must try harder

SB: Young people dying is so sad. A few years ago a friend of my youngest died (he was 14). The church service was terribly sad - too many young people in the church grieving.

When old people die, it's not so bad - at least they had a life (however they dealt with it).
