Greetings and Salutations from a warm and sunny Vancouver...

Having just emerged relatively unscathed from the monthly management meeting, my first instinct was to make a forae into my favourite online forum...so here I am.

But alas, a potential professional dilemma looms. I enjoy my current job but have been approached to meet the owner of another company seeking my services. that job is chief copywriter for a thriving, well established travel company. Writing and travelling, two of my passions combined and being paid for it? Would that be an offer too good to refuse?

I meet on Tuesday so, should that morph into a solid offer...

    Thoughts one and all?

Joining the the trio of 'spiff jobs' could be quite the feather in my much worn cap...

Thanks for the feedback, folks...Tuesday could be a seminal moment for me...

That aside, I hope everyone back home in Blighty is enjoying the business end of Friday...Friday libations on the horizon or already commenced...?

Hello everyone! I am new to Chris' blog.

Have had one mare of a day and looking forward to some downtime this weekend! Chris' weekend sounds fab apart from the footie - my other half would like that though.

Plan to go to the pub for lunch on Sunday too for a nice roast!

Speak to you all soon - have a good weekend!

Just before I go could anyone let me know; does lol stand for laugh out loud or lots of love?

Any hoo take care; love Noodles xxxx

  • Comment number 29.

Hiya Noodles. Welcome to the daftest blog - but very nice people here.

Haven't a scooby (sorry Clare) what lol means but think it means laugh out loud. Of course, I could be very wrong.

    xxx

  • Comment number 30.

Hello noodles, and happy blogging. I always thought it was lots of love when my girls were texting me (ah!) so I started popping it at the end of my texts to them (eg Don't forget your coat, LOL Mum. I was told rather condescendlingly it does indeed mean laugh out loud!

By co-incidence, we are having noodles with our Chinese meal tonight.

    A x

  • Comment number 31.

Ah Chinese meal, what a good idea!

We haven't had a pub Sunday lunch for such a long time. The ultimate luxury no cooking or cleaning, just home and collapse on the sofa.

Hi Nettienoodles welcome to the blog.

Regarding my correspondence today. Well I told him, it went like this:

'What's the worse news I could give you right now?'

'That you are pregnant with another man's child' (not what I was expecting!?)

'Phew good job I'm telling that I've got a speeding fine then I suppose'

He was fine! Bit of a lecture but hey, he was right anyway.

So last night was Wind Club, anyone up for Wine Club tonight?

    MV: Have a wonderful holiday.

Can't wait for mine - middle of October - up north of Aviemore with my lovely bairns and grandbairns. The way the weather is performing, it'll probably be snowing!!!

    xxx

  • Comment number 35.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! The only thing now is 'What are my friends laughing out loud about when they text me?' Or perhaps they think it means lots of love too! That's what I'm going to believe anyway - always look on the bright side!!

Just waiting for hubby to arrive back from the big smoke. train gets in about now. So have a cheeky bottle of Sav Blanc in the fridge and will serve with my mum's homemade salmon fishcakes and salad - I knew there was a reason why I called around there this evening!!

Am I mad, sad and the only one excited about Strictly starting again next week - preview this Sat?

    LOL Noodles XXXX

  • Comment number 36.

Hey Anne, did the FNWC start without me? Been to the cemetery with the family (it's mum's birthday today) in the rain, boy it's a glamorous life I lead... Annoyed with myself cos I left my flowers at work, but one of the girls has very kindly put them in water for me, so I'll take them Monday night after work. Now with a nice glass of red somethingorother, but only 3/4 of a bottle tonight, so I may not be on top form!! What was that the other week about radio dj's encouraging drinking...

Dr T, you'll lose nothing by meeting with this new chap, so go ahead and see what he has to offer. Once you know more detail about the position, then I'm sure you'll know whether it's for you. It does sound tempting though!

Debbie, glad all went ok with Mr Debbie.

Now, what music will I choose to accompany my ramblings this evening ;-)

    AF xx

    ps hi Noodles!

  • Comment number 37.

    Evening AF

I've got Bonnie Raitt playing Nick of Time. Waiting in the wings is Duffy and Warren Zevon.

Ramble? You? on a Friday night? Never.....

    xxxx

  • Comment number 38.

Hello chuck! Fancied a bit of Deacon Blue. Just my own compilation, starts with He Looks Like Spencer Tracy Now and works its way through the years to Your Town via the fantastic Fergus Sings The Blues. Fantastic. You know when you haven't listened to something for a long time, and when you put it on again it sounds as fresh as it did in the day. Lovely.

So what's the topic for discussion tonight, do we have one? Would comment on CLP's blog, but it's football and I couldn't give a toss for it...

    AF x

  • Comment number 39.

AF: Top for wine club? Music????

Just bought The Band's Last Waltz on DVD from Amazon. Had it years ago on video.

Absolutely the best, except for Joni Mitchell. Could never stand her or that daft woman who was Bob Dylan's girlfriend. What was her name??

    xxx

  • Comment number 40.

    Top?? Topic maybe.

  • Comment number 41.

Do you mean the highly individual vocal stylings of Joan Baez, Ms Anne? Lol. Not really my thing. Joni Mitchell, don't really know much of her apart from Both Sides Now in Love Actually. Beautiful song, makes me cry.

    AF x

ps next up might be Jamie Cullum. Wee cutie!

  • Comment number 42.

That's her AF. Never got her. Pretentious prat I always thought.

    xx

  • Comment number 43.

Now playing: Bob Dylan 'Modern Times'. Thunder on the Mountain. Brill.

    xxx

  • Comment number 44.

Changing the subject slightly, my niece and I were discussing going to see Dara O' Briain next month. Now there's a funny man. Used to annoy the hell out of me with his 'oirishness', but he's brilliant as the host of Mock the Week. £22 a ticket though, it's not a cheap as it used to be. Last comedian I went to see was Jack Dee, and I think he was about £10. That was a good few years ago mind you...

    AF x

    ps where is everybody???

  • Comment number 45.

AF: I know. Thinking of closing up and going to bed with book.

Think Dara O'Brian was at the Fringe. Good reviews.

    AF x

  • Comment number 49.

AF: Reading Constance by Rosie Thomas. Quite good.

Seeing the reviews for the film about the boy in the striped pyjamas ( think that's what it's called), have remembered that I read the book and it was wonderful. Can't now remember who I loaned it to.

A book that makes you want to cry and wonder how people came to be like that.

    xxxx

  • Comment number 50.

While I have the chance quickly.....

....yep delivered. To a Shayne Ward lookey-likey no less! Walked back to the car blushing and with a big grin on me mush.

  • Comment number 51.

Oh dear, being bingo'd. Bit at a time then...

I find it difficult to read books like that Anne, although the synopsis does sound interesting. My friend keeps trying to interest me in Jodi Picoult, but all the woman seems to write about is children being abused in some way, shape or form. Perhaps I'm doing her a dis-service, but I've read I think 3 of hers, and abandoned the 4th because I found it too upsetting.

  • Comment number 52.

I prefer the escapist aspect of novels, rather than reading about the cruelty mankind inflicts on one another... Ooh, listen to me and my high horse. Sorry, didn't mean to sound like that hon!!

  • Comment number 53.

I'm re-reading The Black Echo by Michael Connelly, which is at work for lunchtimes, and I have a Jeffrey Deaver, The Vanished Man, waiting in the wings. Didn't realise he had created Lincoln Rhyme (The Bone Collector is a fantastic film), but now I know I'll just have to get them all!!

  • Comment number 54.

Oh dear, apparently BP don't like the thing two people do with their mouths when they like each other.

Debbie and your man, sitting in a tree, [spell out word here]. Hahahaha. Oh, more wine required!

  • Comment number 55.

You look lovely tonight! WOT? what makes you think Mr B hit the red before I did tonight - who you talking to is annie there who else is on? aaaaaaargh!!

Ignoring - he is obviously not seeing straight! Right meal cooked eaten d'washer loaded one glass down now - what's been happening?

    Beesmum xxx

  • Comment number 56.

Hi there Beesmum, quiet on here tonight. Anne considering beddie-byes, Debbie off to sort out LM, and me, drinking. Again. Hehehehe.

    Welcome :-)

    AF xx

  • Comment number 57.

AF: I love Jodi Picoult, but agree quite difficult to read.

Like you, I want books to go to sleep to. Waiting in the wings is The Mitford Girls and A Piano in the Pyrenees by the lovely Tony Hawks. Will let you know what they're like.

    xxx

One of my favourite books is Memoirs of a Highland Lady by Elizabeth Grant of Rothiemurchus. Not a book to read all at once but great for dipping into.

Anne, I lied. Not Jamie Cullum, but Love and Money, followed by Hue and Cry. In a Scottish mood tonight!

    AF xx

    Beesmum, you *are* lovely :-)

Thank god for that AF. Jamie Cullum is rather like porridge.

  • Comment number 75.

Anne, you tell her, I'm not sure.

And I apologise in advance for the digression, but I'm reading the ´óÏó´«Ã½ news blog too, and this post amused me:

Pan pipes - lovely - I have their demo.

Ooh, I do like a bit of pan pipes. Gregorian chant too. And I know some of us dislike SK, but I wake up to her in a morning (though only for 10 minutes or so) and after the thought for the day slot she's had Cistersian (?) monks. Lovely sound.

See Anne, it's not all Scottish doom 'n' gloom!!

    AF x

ps can I bring Sheryl Crow, or would that upset?

Sheryl Crow and Mr. B very welcome.

Of course he can gatecrash. He can go to Kingussie to top up the booze.

Neither would I - racket! bagpipes - once went round to a friends new years eve party - much younger - and dressed him in one of my tartan skrits - fluffy evening bag as sporren and walking round to house got wolf whistled by police car occupants!! creasing themselves laughing - - can only say the party started when he arrived - I hid in kitchen!

Hahaha Beesmum, you remind me of my mum and dad's mate June - hides in the nearest toilet at the slightest sign of fractiousness!!

  • Comment number 93.

Bsmum: Quite like bagpipes, as long as they are 3 miles away.

But tell Mr. B - no pipes at Loch Insh. More English people than Scottish!!

However, they have a small bar, with a large tv screen to watch the footie. And a few outside tables to look over the Loch while you're quaffing your wine. That'll do us, then.

Mr B would be fine there then - true english gent - keeping his identity in tact living and working in scotland for 9 years - however mis spent youth in how the hell do you spell sockie hall street - sauchie? discos with late night licences!
