EIGHT DAYS A WEEK... AND THE REST
We were chatting last night about...
...many things.
I was out with my wife's father, a very wise man, a very wise man indeed.
He discussed gold. I discussed The Beatles. Moreover we both discussed both.
His gold story.
Apparently the world gold market is controlled, or at least could be, by the mums, daughters and grandmas of the cities, towns and villages of India ! They hold more than twice the federal gold reserve of the United States ! Gold is cheaper in India and of better quality than most of the rest of the world. The Indian girls and the boys that want to be with the Indian girls hold gold in the highest esteem. If a farmer has a good week, he will not go down the pub on a Friday or to the bookies but instead to his gold merchant to buy some more. From the very poor to the incredibly wealthy gold is what it's all about in India and indeed what it's all about if you are an Indian living in Britian or anywhere else in the world for that matter. I have a very close Indian friend who makes a pilgimage back home once a year to top up on his own ever growing gold reserve.
My Beatles story.
Why were they so important ? How come they moved music on so much ? How did they get so good ?
The simple answer is, they had to.
Even the biggest bands in the world now only release an album every two years. That's on average around twelve songs. That's about one song every two months. The Beatles released approximately two albums a year and then often a single every month or two that wasn't on any album. This prolific rate of creativity forced them not to think and just do. The more you write, the more you write. The more you do anything the better you get at it. And no six month sabbaticals for them, no way. They were writing backstage, on the move, in restaurants, who knows where else ? If you see most of their hand written song lyrics when they come up for auction they are often written on the back of menus, or scraps of paper, or bog roll, anything.
I look forward to our next dinner.
CLP.

Totally agree about the Beatles and lots of the other classic bands, they were at it all the time and I think possible more passionate about writing songs than some of today's musicians although of course there are many who are. Also I don't think they took themselves quite as seriously and were not as "perfectionistic" (made up word) as the bands who have grown up in the digital age.

My ex-fiancee Inna. Sadly I find out her mother died yesterday, very suddenly.
I feel so, so, so badly for her!
She's now a struggling single parent, her grandfather died 3 months ago and now she has no mother too.
I feel so badly for her amd her son, I care for them deeply but she's got so many problems in her life she has pushed me away.
Why are people so complicated?
Why is life so cruel to some people?
Inna is exactly in my mothers position when I was 8. She was left alone, divorced, as a single parent to bring up a young boy 'me' and both her parents died witihn a year of each other all when I was 8.
Inna is the same now with her son who's 6. I understand her situation and want to be there for her.
I am the one person who could help her, a nice, caring decent man... but maybe nice is boring.
Women seem to be attracted to bad men even though they know it will bring trouble.
God I feel so bad for Inna.. but what can I do???
Life sometimes just won't let people be!
Maybe we are all put on this earth to suffer and it's all a test for the next!!
Oh well finish with the happy, sorry 'appy!
Went to the Queen gig last neet and whatta gig. We gotta spot right near the front, right by Brian May's mic. I was only about 10 feet from him watching him play!!!@!!!!!@!
Something I notice all these top people always make it look so simple and easy what their good at. Be it Tiger Woods with golf, Lewis 'amilton racing or Brain May wrocking.
The way 'e waz working 'is guitars waz unreal, just looks so effortless. Mind you a suppose it's like riding a bike. Yer don't think I must push my left leg down, then my right up, then down, I must hold my arms out straight and balance on the centre of the tyre and not fall off... yer just do it!
Playing the guitar at Brian's level - I suppose it's similar, it comes naturally with experience and you just work your way around the frets without.... fretting!!!
Well 'e 'is fretting.... the frets, but yer know what am sayin'!!!!
If Brian needs ter play a low bend at the 15th fret 'e probally just does it and without thinking about it. Maybe sometimes 'e's accidently on the 16th but it doesn't matter in the 'eat of the moment with power chords - know what am sayin'!!!!
Am just tryin ter get deep inter the mind of emense guitar playing talent!!!!!!!
And Paul Rogers, Roger Taylor and all the musicians were BRILLIANT!!!!!
Spike Edney on keyboards and Steve Wright EXACT double on bass - Danny Mirander ex Blue Oyster cult bassist!!!!
Or maybe it waz Wrightie... a teel yer 'is exact double.... YO WRIGHT... 'ow do yer do yer BIG show and get ter the Queen gigs in time??????
The strange thing last night when we arrived at the MEN arena it always seem 'uge inside... but after the enormous Ukraine gig... it seemed smaller, more intimate!!!! Strange!!!

We had to talk for a min or 5 (can't remember which) and then answer questions of course . . boys being boys they ALL wanted to know the title of the Album Never Mind The . . . . .. . .. . . . .. You can guess the rest. the teacher was ok about it i just think my "friends" just wanted to try and get me into trouble which of course they didn't. I took lots of material in with me show them. No doubt these days i'd take a laptop in and do a powerpoint pres on it.
Bingo,
glad you enjoyed the Queen gig last night. I've not been to a gig in years n years (just no one i've wanted to see badly enough to spend the dough on) All the gigs i've fancied have been big huge stadium gigs and i'm not keen on them.
I'm determined to get SLF on Drivetime. If i'm home tomorrow i might even ring 'em up and ask for it (although i wont hold my breath as i don't think it's the kind of thing they'll play) :(
Steve :-D

Always fancied working outside, you know, like landscape gardening or something (well, except that I know nothing about plants. At all. I am not green-fingered in the slightest. Black-fingered perhaps...). But it must be a bugger in the winter...
Bond, am seriously considering it. Only problem is the cat. Every time I get up, he follows me, then it's a case of herding him out of the kitchen because, of course, why else would I go in there if not to feed him. And why is said food not forthcoming???
Hey ho, think a brave face and woolly socks are called for first. Well it's a ceramic tile floor, you know!

Are conga eels called that because they do the conga? If so, it should be easy to find them, just put the music on!
Sad about Caesar though, had a tear in me eye.

I work in the tourism industry at a visitor attraction and have to spend parts of my day outside welcoming in the hoardes, which is fine in the summer but as you put it, a bugger at this time of the year. rpx

Rosieposie, I am quite partial to milk chocolate (just chocolate though, no filling) with warm red wine. Mmmm, definitely a winter treat, that one. Strange that I'm still drinking rose at this time of year, have usually moved on to red at this point. My theory being that rose is a summer drink, being lighter, and red is a winter drink. Two bottles waiting, but they may be frosted over in the kitchen, oh no!!

I'm back again from the arctic wilderness that is my kitchen, and this time I stayed long enough for toast and marmelade. Not traditionally an accompaniment to rose wine, I'll grant you, but when you've got the munchies...
Even caved and fed the cat too. Woo hoo. Life is a rollercoaster, you just gotta ride it.......
Oh dear, descending into Ronan Keating, the end is nigh!
