Good morning, good intentions.

Chris Evans | 10:16 UK time, Monday, 16 March 2009

It's very difficult to start the week with good intentions if...

...just as you're getting peckish at around ten o'clock the woman of your dreams walks in with a lovely cup of tea and two rounds of toast smothered in Marmite for you.

The tea yes, the toast and Marmite no, too nice, too meaty, it will render all the healthy food I intended to eat today completely tasteless.

So what did I do? I ate one round and threw the rest outside for the birds. Do they like Marmite? I have no idea, we'll soon find out but please let it be before Tash sees the two discarded halves ungratefully disposed of in the name of litheness now lying forlorn and unloved on the lawn.

Hope you had a fab weekend, we had good quality "r and r" culminating me claiming last night that even though the film we were watching wasn't half bad we should really be thinking about going to bed,

"How come?" asked Tash.

"Because it's ten o'clock and we're both knackered," I but persuasively gently replied.

"Er... it's only nine o'clock sweetheart."

"D'oh !" and it was indeed only nine o'clock but my powers of subliminal suggestion must have worked as ten minutes later Tash was snoring like a good 'un and we were in bed for half past.

Hurrah!

Was up and at 'em at six this morning - been working ever since. These are our new Noah hours, it's light by that time and I must say I'm loving getting back to early mornings, definitely the best part of the day.

Now how's that bluetit doing getting his beak unstuck from that Marmite?

Agggghhhhh, honestly just looked and Tash is stood looking at the two slices of evidence, suddenly I feel very bad.

CLP.

Can't believe I'm first!! I have to say that I too became a fan of early mornings due to an early trip to the airport at the weekend. It's lovely just before sunrise....peaceful, calm and makes you feel good about things. Hope Noah is doing well.

    Marmite? Meaty?

The brown stuff is veggie heaven dear boy. Mind you, if push comes to shove, I am slightly more partial to the Australian, ahem, 'veg' version.

As I mentioned yesterday, we spent the weekend in Germany and saw a popular American beat combo known as The Killers on Saturday night.

I've said my bit about the wall, so I won't repeat myself, but I really do recommend a visit.

I have the day off today, so with the sun shining over West Sussex, an afternoon out on the bike seems in order.

By the way, I hear there were a few politicians round this neck of the woods at the weekend?

    Peace etc

Glad you had a good weekend of r 'n r.

I love Marmite and now you've put it in my mind, I might just have some for brekkie tomorrow.

I hope Tash, doesn't punish you too much for chucking the breakfast out for the birds. I am sure the birds are grateful though!

We also got to do a bit of retail therapy. Needless to say nothing 'pour moi' but GD as usual even tho she wasn't with me!

Busy weekend as usual....mainly taxi runs and cooking. Don't mention footie pleassssse - wrong 'reds' won - we'll let you have that one Bingo! Beloved had a good day tho in the blue corner.

Hope the brum meet went well, can't do facecloth at the office and not sure how to find anyone it....tips please.

Sounds like the Brum meet was fun, we managed to get a walk in the spring sunshine, the mutt went loopy, and is now paying for it - didn't even want to go out last night, she must be feeling her age!!

Right, better go see if I can wake the Boy up so we can do stuff, although I don't know what yet........

I've learned to like early mornings again since I met my lovely man 10 months ago. Now I get up 2-3 times a week at 5.15 to drive 70 miles in time to take my daughter to school ! Mind you, if it wasn't for the cappuccino stop en route I would be a gibbering wreak I'm sure.

I remember those early morning baby days very well. With three under 6 they lasted for several years...arghhhh !

Take care all those tired Mummies and Daddies out there.x

  • Comment number 31.

    Well,
I whent to the recruitment thingybob, It's a major commitment, apparently I would be working in a house that has 6 residents (service users) and my job is to make sure all have had a wash and breakfast, then clean the house/wash-up etc. Then get them all lunch, also I would be expected to take them shopping, to the dentist/doctors... and on Holiday!!(hopefully not all at once).
The salary is, as expected the national minimum, so I would have to bump this up by working 12hr days starting at 7am!

I'm really not sure I'm up to it.

Anyhoo, I'm home now and it's so luverly I think I'm going to cut the grass, that's if I can lift the mower over Mr N's motorbike!

Will try to check back later after the garden looks all neat and spruce.

    Good Afternoon.

Now I read the blog earlier but been a bit busy. Now After reading it, I quite fancied marmite on toast but I could not get the top off. I'm as weak as a kitten after all my hard labour over the weekend.

Until the Yorkshire pudding fest I used to throw my unsuccessful yorkie pancakes to the birds. It was more than a little scary when this huge seagull hoovered over the house one day, then with one fell swoop flew off with it whole.

Bingo_- Come to think of it I may not have said that to Mr Chris it may have been Mr Wright, my memory is not what it was.

Meet looks fantastic fun...glad a great time was had by all..but..where are all the incriminating pics..ie the morning after the night before?! Or have they been censored!

Who mentioned a northern meet btw..has been mooted before...

Bingo - feel free to wear the shades at the London meet.
Jovial went to pick Diva up from the station - the rest of us in pub watching Liverpool!!! and there she emerged - all glammed up with shades the lot - he said he was looking round for the paparazzi following her. (If you do eventually get on fb she's much prettier in real life than her pics although she does take a decent pic too).

    Beez xx

Can't wait to get on me laptop now and find all you new guys !! Supper may be late - unless I can find something I made earlier - sorry Mr B !!!! Priorities!

  • Comment number 82.

    We did thanks 007,

Managed to tire out both the Boy and the dog in one go - hour and half walk round a local nature reserve.
Admittedly the boy didn't walk for that long but the ride in the back carrier saw him to sleep and the dog forgot she's almost 10 and ran around like a lunatic, she's still paying for it today!

Certainly no Brum meet or trip to Berlin, but enough for little ol' me!!

    How bout you?

    Cheryl

I understand completely, I much prefer being on the safe side of the camera and in the 6 years we've been together I think there's only about 3 pics of me and t'other!

    minorityvoter.

I'm afraid I'm not really an authority on Berlin as we literally spent one day there.

However, in 24 hours I was completely absorbed by the place (see my post on Sunday evening).

All I can really recommend is what we did, which was put our walking boots on, grab a map, and head off into the streets to see what you can find.

Checkpoint Charlie is interesting, and from there you can head up Friedrichstrasse, which is the main shopping street, right up to the river. If you follow this to the left you will find yourself at the Reichstag. We stayed down near Potsdamer Platz, where there are some sections of the wall standing, but for a better idea of what it was like head to Niederkirchnerstrasse where there is a whole section along the street. This brings you back neatly to Checkpoint Charlie.

Oh, and for an enjoyable bit of cribbing up before you go, reaquaint yourself with The Bourne Supremacy - a fair chunk of it was set in Berlin.

I've managed to walk a few miles and cycle a few more today (yes Super BP, my bike has pedals, not an engine) in the wonderful spring sunshine, but now I'm flagging, so it is time to head to my quiet spot and grab a few chapters of my new Deaver (that's 'Jeffery', as opposed to 'Cheryl the'), before devising a new alphabet music game to try and help me sleep.

    Much peace

    MfR

    PS Just for one day

Annie-G, Didn't Alma Cogan sing during interludes on the radio show, Take it from here...?

  • Comment number 90.

Now, Bond, I am really not that old, although I can vaguely remember Journey to the Centre of the Earth on the radio!!!!

Perhaps she did, but all I really remember is that she died of cancer of the spine, poor girl.

    Bet Clodagh remembers her!!!!

  • Comment number 93.

    Howya fellas.

Just got back from me travels and heard snippets of the show tonight; LOVED the dog-biscuit-tasting. And can I just add that in fairness, if CLP and Johnny are going to be testin' the baby food tomorrow, in the interests of scientific accuracy, said Mashed Banana and Bacon Casserole should be regurgitated first and administered by a proper seasoned mum, eg. Sally, usin' the spoon like she was groutin' the bathroom tiles.

And usin' the plastic bibs of course.

Now Clodagh, admit it, you must remember Alma.....

  • Comment number 96.

Annie-G, just read Alma Cogan's bio and apparently she was buried not far from where I use to live... for what it's worth. Only in her 30s when she died, tragic!!!!!

  • Comment number 97.

Oh, gawd, am getting itchy skin here. Clodagh, you must remember her - ask Reneee!!

    xxxx

  • Comment number 98.

    Ooh YES Alma Cogan, marvellous.

Can't remember what she sang, hang on it wasn't The Wedding Song was it???

Oh hurrah I think it was, I'll check; all I can remember is she had big hair and black eyelashes and Courreges boots. Top Bird.
