That's what the...

...boys doing all the time now.

Mummy has just taken Beth out, so I have had Nodge for ten minutes and the whole time he has just been scanning the world and downloading. When you're his age it's all about the in tray.

Daddy was up with the lark at five this morning. By the way is the lark the original early bird - is that where the saying comes from ? Tash and Nodge are off to mums and bumps this morning so it was an early start for everyone.

I have started editing the book text, so the pre proper job - job continues for a while. Have just re-read a bit about when I bought my first Bentley and had a car-phone fitted, it was almost bigger than the car, not a small achievement when you're talking about a Bentley. Made me giggle.

So, what about all those blues fans waking up this morning to the realisation that it wasn't all a bad dream. The ref really should have gone to Specsavers. How bad was he !

Football is simply a victim of its own ignorance - a video ref would have ensured Chelsea would be in Rome come a couple of weeks time - along with the boy Fletcher from the night before. Why the powers that be resist this twenty odd year old "innovation" so stubbornly is beyond me and serves only to give rise to suspicion of something more sinister.

And I had to laugh at the eternally brainless Drogba.

"This is a *&^%$%* disgrace," he shouted into the camera after the final whistle had gone - as if swearing like that whilst millions of kids and families are watching isn't - you prat.

Sky even repeated his ridiculous outburst by mistake - nice one.

Football is indeed a beautiful game but it involves some of the most stupid people from top to bottom.

I still loved every second though.

Maybe we could club together Chris and send him to specsavers. Being an Arsenal fan even I was angry with the bad decisions.

    Morning Chris

Up at at 'em like me. Quite agree about video playbacks. They do it in rugby, why not football, would save a lot of heartache.

A friend of mine who is an avid Arsenal supporter, can't stand Chelsea or Drogba agrees that "we was robbed!!"

    Have a great day

Have to agree on the points about video refs. It has worked well in Rugby Union and adds to rather than detracts from the drama.

Interesting stuff about your book too. Coming to the end of my first one and looking to publish this year - insha'allah as they say in these parts.

Hi CLP and to all fellow bloggers....I'm now no longer a virgin blogger. Been reading the blog for several months, having an early morning laugh at all the comments before starting work. I finally manage to get round to signing up.

Didn't see the Chelsea game but cannot avoid the massive controversy in the news today...nor sure about the conspiracy theory re UEFA not wanting a final between 2 English sides...but you never know...now it's down to MAN U to do the dirty deed!

Ref had really bad eyesight...no doubt about that.

    Morning gang!

Nice and early this morning Mr Evans!

I was worried when I read "downloading" in your title - I used to work with a lad who every morning, without fail, after his first coffee of the day would disappear for his "daily download". Always said there wsa something perversely satisfying about doing "that" in works time and not his own!

I'd like to think he's gone far in life.

Bit excited today - it's Razorlight tonight at the 02. Bit weird getting ready for work tho, in the knowledge that I'm leaving at 4 and going straight to the smoke to shake it all about.

Bagpuss - glad you had a good time in Stanglia. Nice, innit!?!

MTF - as Beez says on t'other blog, I type realyl fast but I am also stuck in front a pooter all day. As I work fairly isolated (lady boss not a fan of talking in the office!) I consider the blog people like colleagues in a large office, ergo nipping in here every now and again for a "chat". Also find it easier to keep up with everyone by dipping in frequently rather than doing it all at lunchtime or of an evening. Be assured tho - if there's real work to be done, it gets done. And as for early morning posts, I don't "officially" start work til 9.30, so now, for instance, I'm not really here!

Just back form some pre-break shopping...love it

    Drogba - no class.
Over-rated striker, he missed a hat-trick of chances which Anelka, Torres, Rooney, Owen, Greaves, Lineker (you get my point) would have easily converted. The main problem is these boys start to believe the hype when yhey're not actually that good. any ordinary striker in Chelski - or L'Arsenal - would score loads as they have awesome play makers, chance creators.
Life's about karma and drogba, boy it came back to haunt him big time. They scored in the injury time that he caused from his fake injuries, rolling around etc

I was gutted that a prem lge team lost but had to chuckle at the classless way it was received

Roll on the final eh? Could be a corker, esp if Ronaldo looks at Messi and realises that chasing back makes you even more world class, how good are Barca at closing down? Even the 'star players'

I think Im going to be a bit controversial over the football and stand up for the referee, sort of!

I can see why all of the potential penalty shouts could have been rejected.

Malouda incident initial offence was well outside the area, ref plays on hoping that Chelsea get an advantage, it doesnt happen and then play gets pulled back to the location of the initial foul.

Drogba This one should have been a penalty, but Drogba somehow managed to throw himself to the ground forwards, even though his shirt was being tugged from behind. It therefore looks like simulation.

Pique handball Piques hand was already in the air before Anelka flicked the ball on from 3 yards away from Pique, therefore ball to hand, not deliberate handball. Ive seen them given and turned down.

Etoo handball Etoo bottled out of facing up to Ballacks shot turned his back and jumped in the air. The ball hit him on the back of his arm, again ball to hand. No penalty.

The sending off was players getting in a tangle, again Ive seen them given and turned down. It should only have been a booking.

I have no axe to grind with Chelsea, and if the decisions had been in a United game I would have been screaming red murder for a decision. In the cold light of day and having watched it from a number of angles I can see why the ref may have made the calls he made.

Drogbas reaction though was out of order, I expect him to be banned, and Chelsea may even find themselves on a failure to control their players charge.

YO,Penny,MANY HAPPY ONES.Returns of the day that is.X
Hi to the rest of you.Deevs, you must be really glad to be able to blog then if Lady boss isn't much of a conversationalist! I dont have much company during the day while I am out and about BUT,at least the scenery changes regularly, thank goodness.
It was lovely being out at 4 this morning.Bristol was deserted albeit wet.You see a different style of driving at that time in the morning and as I took the M5 south to Tiverton, there were several drivers looking like they were coming to the end of their shift and a few drifting along into the hard shoulder before coming to again with a noticeable swerve of the steering wheel.
Yikes,a bit scary to see,the type of thing they normally put on nightwatch or similar.Well getting out into garden to plant sweetpeas before the iffy weather heads our way. When is this great summer that they are all saying is coming our way,due to start? Is it the beginning of June? Catch up with you later on.XX

Ooh hello! Where's the blog been all morning? Did ya miss me?

Is it me, or is it really really hot today? Almost steamy in factamondo.

Have posted blog meet dates on FaceAche. Be nice if some of you could join me and Beezer and the pink champagne brigade in either Birmingham (July) or Norwich (October).

Yep, Brum. We had such a ball we're gonna do it again - eh Beez. The champagne bar are already rubbing their hands together at the prospect of another bloggers meeting!

    Hi All,

    Welcome TangoBaz

    Happy Birthday Penny

    Hazel.....Good grief!!!!!

Football...don't know anything about it, but, whoever was squaring up to the ref in that over-aggressive way last night, should face a ban at least.
I'm a Rugby fan as is my son, and I would quite like him to get into football aswell, as I'm a bit of an outsider on that front amongst my mates.
But what he would have seen last night is in such stark contrast to how they are taught to behave at our club on a Sunday, that I may keep him away from it.

    Afternoon all!

    Penny - Happy Birthday!!

I am a very proud mummy today cos my lovely daughter went after a job this morning and got offered it on the spot! She is so proud of herself, but not as proud as me!!

Not sorry the Chels lost - would have hated to see them win the Champions League without Jose. Totally with you on the Drog Gingebre, altho having said that, he has got a gorgeous body and he can writhe on the floor in front of me any time!!!

Deev - I too wondered what 'download' meant and thought the worst! I knew someone who did just what you describe - wonder if its the same bloke - Colin?????

Morning, afternoon from a rather gloomy and overcast upstate NY. Heavy rain overnight, but it is supposed to brighten up as the day goes on. Supposed to be in the upper 60s today.... well we shall see.

Thoughts on last night game, well the ref aside, I think Chelsea paid the price for sitting on there 1 goal lead. A second from them would have killed the game. Barc, never evening looked like scoring..... not one shot on target until the goal..... all in all, not the most entertaining of matches. However, I would say that the reaction of some of the Chelsea players after the game was disgraceful. Whether they thought the ref was a biased or not to confront him like that was, well they should be ashamed of themselves. I think UEFA will have every right to throw the book at them and the club for their behavior.......But that's just my opinion.....LOL

  • Comment number 85.

Yes I did miss you Deev, hope you have had an enjoyable day in the dark place. Kings of leon are one of my favourites.

    Bondy,

Again I agree with everything you say, Chelsea players were an absolute disgrace and UEFA need to do something about it. It doesnt give a good impression for youngsters.

    Nick.

    Morning Bondy

Just to add to your blog. I agree about teams, and not just Chelsea, holding on to a 1 goal lead. Whatever happened to wanting to win, or is that not taught in schools now a days??

One should never rest on your laurels (sp), always go for the win and never hope that you might just hang on, cause if anything Chelsea proved that that doesn't always work last night.

    Over and out

At last! Has the ´óÏó´«Ã½ not paid the leccy bill or what?

Looked earlier - new blog but no comments box, did some more work, looked again - and finally it's here.

Happy Birthday Pen - 37 or otherwise!

I agree with the comments made re video replays and the differences between rugby and football - being brought up on RL but also watching the big games in Union I think they are proper men who know how to behave, even under pressure, whereas too many footballers are just spoiled prima donnas. Whatever the failings of the ref (and I only saw the highlights on the news) to behave like that is shocking.

Well, must get on. But before I do someone asked about our worst presents.

    Two words - Juggling Balls.

When I was pregnant and feeling frumpy. Why, I ask you?!!!

    Hi Scoobs,

You'll appreciate one of the best presents I ever received.
It was from my Dad on my our wedding day.

He bought me a Rear wheel (without tyre) from a Jordan driven by Damon Hill - all certificated and everthing with a glass top to make it a coffee table.

Sits next to me in the office, I'm glad you asked as I take it for granted, and that's just conjured up loads of good memories.

    Aah!!

    Afternoon

We're you all a steamy lot yesterday? Naughty, naughty - lol!

Feeling much better today thanks. My bank holiday weekend seemed to be spent doing lots of things that were 'priority' whilst lots of other 'priority' things backed up. I can cope with peaks and troughs but this was off the scale. Anyway, things are a bit calmer, decisions made, some jobs done and some still be done. In the scale of things no big deal, but just felt frustrated and p-d off. Worse things happen at sea....

Deevs - have a great night tonight. If I was a little closer I'd have happily taken the spare tickets, but don't think I can get to you in time!

Beez - how's your tooth today? I was at the dentist getting my temporary crown removed and the permanent one fitted. All went well, got home absolutely starving and thought, I'll have myself a salad sandwich. Bit into it, forgot to chew it on the other side of my mouth and crunched against my new crown. Ouch!

Lyndy-loo - I had really bad morning sickness until I was 20 weeks. Couldn't even stand a toothbrush in my mouth. Suddenly stopped and only started again the day I went into labour. On the plus side, I only put 1.5 stone on in pregnancy 'cos I was too sick to eat.

    To the ladies,
I've just had a video clip of a "Wii for ladies" called Shii sent to me at work. Includes such events as simulated Wii ironing, leg shaving, housework including hoovering, and a certain activity of the bedroom nature involving an oral examination upon gentlemen.

I was disgusted and reported it to our IT focal point.

    hmmm oh yes!
