Is it the karma police at work ? You tell me.

Chris Evans | 08:56 UK time, Wednesday, 30 September 2009

After serious unacknowledged rib injury of DJ from wife, wife is struck down with dodgy chicken sandwich food poisoning.

When I arrived home from work last night, the house was like the Mary Celeste - nobody around - nothing going on. Tash surfaced only to tell me of her woe. After which I ordered her back to bed, made myself a tomato salad, poured myself a glass of wine and turned on the Liverpool game to see them get stuffed by Florence.

This morning with Chicken Sandwich Girl still unavailable for selection, I have for the last hour been experiencing a full on Three Men and A Baby incompetence fest...

Noah seems to be able to do most of this himself though - bless him.

Right, time for the tricky stuff - mashed banana anyone ?

You should have gone for the Arsenal game .... 2-nil to the Gunners and there's no way that 2nd goal from Arshavin was offside ..... well, maybe a wee tiny bit. But a goal is a goal!!

    Hope Tash feels bettererererer soon!

Arh Bless Tash, food poisoning is not nice at all! I hope she feels better soon.

Noah is looking as cute as ever - mmmmmm mashed banana used to be one of my favourites as a kid.

And why is it than whenever I blog a new blog arrives! Happened yesterday and today!

Ah Christoff I don't know about the Karma Police, I reckon young Noah needs the Red Card for givin' 'is poor injured daddy the victory sign over the mashed banana. Hurrah bless 'im.

And poor Tash, chicken food poisonin' is a right nause. Literally. I've only ever experienced that once, when I didn't defrost a chicken properly and I swear I was shoutin' for Huey and fishin' me eyeballs out the U-bend for 3 days afterwards. Nightmare.

By the way. Are yous still wearin' that plaster? I swear. The last time I saw a sight like that it said WHOOPS! on it and was marked down to 50p. Stick that in the bargain bucket, hurrah. Made a lovely bit a cracklin'.

Aww CLP sorry to here things not all hunky dory in the Evans household. Glad to hear you're looking after Tash so well though.

Looks like Noah's enjoying breakfast with Daddy. If you need any of his Blog Anuties to come & help out, just say the word. I think there's a few of us who are a dab hand with the old mashed banana and we're all good at sticking the kettle on to support a frazzled Daddy

Now, just take care of yourself too, last thing you want in your tender condition is a dose of the poorly tum.

    Hi again

Was just wondering. Tiggy, and other bloggers who are going to be lucky enough to get their book signed by CLP, will you be asking him to dedicate it to your blog name or your real name? In other words, will you let on that you are one of the bloggers what blog on here or will you be a bit shy about it?

    Just curious

This is a super Centre and needs all the help it can get, Martin Shaw has even ridden one of the horses?? Barney I very much doubt CLP will give a rat's whatsit whether he's in the Top 10 or not; and neither am I, to be honest.

I'll be buyin' said jolly tome even if I'm the only one, whereas I shan't be buyin' the others because I'm not particularly interested in them. Just like I'm not interested in football, eating at MacDonald's, computer games or visitin' Lapland to find Santa.

The point I'm making is that everybody's different. And what a boring old world it would be if we weren't. So good luck to all of the above with their offerings, I'm sure they will indeed all fly off the shelves. But I'm guessin' It's Not What Yous Drink will be atop MY Top 10, which is all that's important to me.

Hear hear Deev. Yes indeed, Ali, forget the scales, and remember that Fat Clubs can be exactly that on the dark side. Dieting does indeed make you fat, and more importantly, depressed and de-motivated.

I was thinking about that after the doughnut debate last evening. This guilt that we all feel around food is rife and so pernicious.

The fact is that at this present time, we're all surrounded by and tempted by rubbishy processed foods. Even when we think we're eating healthily, we're often not because of hidden chemicals and unnecessary additives in processed food. The doughnuts are the least of the villains; doughnuts don't masquerade as anything else but an indulgence bless 'em. And there's nowt wrong with the odd indulgence.

I wish there were an easy answer to this problem but there isn't, it's such a complex issue. In fact, I think perhaps I'll leave it there before I get too boring or provocative. Just that, as someone who has battled-successfully, but still has to be vigilant-an eating disorder, I'd like to say please let's give each other a break and stop obsessing about our bodies.

Just respect them, and to those of us who have them in 100% working order, be bloody thankful.

  • Comment number 60.

Clodagh, You are so right as always. Although I have to say that WW did me proud when I lost all I did with them last year, and apart from the 5lbs I have managed to maintain it and still enjoy treats. I promise not to obsess about it and in the great scheme of things I am not really bothered about my weight, just glad that I can now fit into clothes two sizes smaller and feel a bit fitter.

There are certainly more important things in life to get worked up about and unfortunately we don't!

Onward and upward. Topic closed, I don't want to go on about it. Just thought I'd share.

Clodagh: I really mean this - you never preach. I read over the blog from last night, and Croc was saying something along the lines of she's never met anyone on the net who is real. Well, I have had many a discussion with you, and if anyone is real, it's you.

When I read your post, I agreed with every single word. But, having known the misery of being overweight, slim, very slim, very fat, etc since I was 16, I think that if like AliB, you can face the creeping up of the weight before it becomes a big problem, then good on ya.

You are right though, there's no easy answer, because the problem is not on our hips, it's in our brains!

Thanks once again for your incredible words of wisdom.

Hey, there's nowt wrong with a decent pie!

Deev - now the DW stadium - where I have never seen so many pies being eaten by so many people in such a short time!

I must admit though Cllr Pye passed me by as well

Ah Chrissie you're so sweet. Thankyou.

But I do know my limits, and I realise I'm inclined to think I know it all. I hope, though, that I'm not quite stupid enough to think I can never be wrong.

JG. Given that Cllr. Pye was the champion of the poop-scoop, I'd say you should be ruddy grateful he DID pass you by.

So I hit the metaphoric post-lunch wall. What's a gal to do .....

Had some nuts (no choc, just hazlenuts)
    Refreshed the water
Gave boss man an email with bad news, then ran
Now got The White Stripes on .... LOUD!!!!!

I need a Seven Nation Army in my life!

Afternoon folks - another busy one !! Sunny and warm here but looks like I will be heading for drizzle and cold in Norwich this week-end! Boo.

Get better soon Tash - poorly girl - been there - had that (pizza) lasted 2 days with symptoms exactly the same as our Bingo graphically described!!! Drink lots of water or you will dehydrate.
Noah gets more munchable with every pic doesn't he? I'll volunteer for the babysitting feeding and playing but the other bits - erm no thanks!!!

Fat thin fat thin - yup - me too - slimmer of the year, month, or something like that in 1800 and something too!!! Must look at me badge ! still got it somewhere!

I love cranky names - the villages round here make me giggle - Wyre Piddle etc etc and the ones where firms do it on purpose - can't think of one at the mo but the TreesRus type stuff.

Eyes are beginning to close staring at 'puter all day so off for a Phoebe jog up and down the garden to wake me up!!

And Nic, don't get me going. I LOVE people with the apt names. Am still delighted by your man there in charge of equipment for our troops, called Jock Stirrup. And the chap in charge of accounts at the sports firm that used to supply the rugby club, one Robin Money. And what was that jazz chappie's name, Claude Nobbs? Marvellous. Put me in mind of my old War Hero Granddad, who usedta keep 'is fightin' ferrets down 'is trousers.

    Um, hello, modders..

Clodagh, I think my work colleagues think I have been taking something, as I keep laughing for no reason apparent to them! It's not just me with these names then, thank goodness! I used to work with a man called Mel Head, initials M.T. And in another job a Gordon Bennett...

Right, I need to get gone, as it's getting a bit busy around here, with various footie folks. I bet these Germans are loving the Manchester weather today!

Is it me or are there quite a few different teams in the Champions League this year?

    Catch you all later

    Hello Everyone

    How's ya doin?

Just had a quick catch up on bloggy topics.

On the subject of indulgence. Think one of the best philosophy's around is everything in moderation. Don't make yourself miserable over it but we all know that if we want those trousers to fit we might need to not have a chocie bar everyday.

Clodagh -Just thank you for being on here. Can I order your book yet? Think that one is a sure thing for the top 100.

Laters. Lap top being hijacked & i can't even complain as supposedly it's for homework!!

I must admit though I prefer the baby sitting in Tootsie.... Dustin Hoffman is my favourite actor though.

It's not always about looks it's personality.

    Afternoon peeps
Deev, loved Pies and Predjudice, too but a bit miffed about the description of Wrexham girls in the Chester/Wrexham rivalry thing. Hope I don't fit the stereotype!

I'm not going to get into the weight debate ....!

Sorted out the travel to meet on Saturday, but shocked to hear from Beez that she doesn't eat sweeties!, when I enquired about in-car refreshments.
Praps I'd better get myself some toffees, then at least whilst my teeth are stuck together she will be able to give her ears a rest!

oooh I'm jealous that I won't be at the meet at the weekend... have a glass for me and send me a text or 2 pleeeezzeee!

I've just finished making changes to our web site and sent out a newsletter to everyone and feel like I've made progress today... just month end cheques to write and then I'm moving away from the keyboard (makes me unconfy to sit at the puter for too long these days).

As for unsuitable names I used to use a solicitor called "Mr Fiddler". You're right, you couldn't make it up!!

#54 Thanks chrissie, I knew this week would be a long/busy one and was doing great until this morning, but went out for a walk this afternoon and that made me feel better, I do firmly believe that a lot of how you cope and feel about things is mind over matter!

I probably shouldn't mention this but it can be just as frustrating to not be able to gain weight as it is not to lose weight!
I'm very under weight and am constantly being told by doctors that I have to gain weigh and my husband is very over weight and being told he has to lose weight!
I'm one of those people who can eat anything who everyone gets jealous of but its not as straight forward as that, I'd love to gain some weight!

Off out for a meeting (and another late night) so good night everyone!

    Evening.....

I'm officially unemployed from today and it's move minus 4 days.......

I managed not to cry at work today....it hasn't sunk in that I'm really not going back!! And I know there'll be tears on Friday when we say goodbye to the childminder.......

Anybody got an inspiring idea for a pressie for her btw, I'm crap at pressies!!

Not gonna comment on the weight thing - 23 months since the boy was born and I still haven't shifted all the weight...the plan is to start running (again!!!) when we get to Plymouth! And I love choklit too much!

Phew!! Made it home, and just caught CLP referring to Old Traffic - how very appropriate!!

So, strangest thing I saw on the way home, a discarded toilet seat in the central reservation of the A580!

I don't do gooey sweeties but am partial to mints when I'm driving, especially if I'm getting thirsty.

The site looks lovely Lyndy, and I'm very envious!

    How's the packing going Eb?

When we moved here I said I was never moving again, and we've collected loads more junk in the 7 years since then!

For a pressie, why not give her a photo of the boy in a nice frame?

It's hard getting back into the swing of it, Bridge. I've never been to France other than a day trip to Calais, and a skiing trip with school. Mr JG not keen though either.

We're away two weeks on Saturday to Pembrokeshire for a week, in a cottage again, so we can take Finlay. We're trying to (gradually) walk the entire coast path, not in any sort of order though.

Which reminds me, I need to print off the Hopper bus timetables!
