Twenty four hours to go to the Drivetime Dine and Disco auction 2009/10...

Chris Evans | 08:26 UK time, Wednesday, 18 November 2009

... Didn't sleep much last night thinking about it, the show's quite complicated and we may have to change the offer slightly as the Top Gear track not available for the Friday of the weekend, thinking maybe we get The Stig around Goodwood ! Might be even better.

Plus today, Duncan Bannatyne coming in to tell us about life as a Dragon - also on my mind, the Breakfast Show pilots next week, and my own Top Gear run in the reasonably priced car which we record next Wednesday, after a Tuesday visit to The Paul O' Grady Show.

Children In Need this Friday, and a boys day at the rugby on Saturday - hey ho it's all go but none of it matters a jot at this second as Noah is demanding "more squished anything dadda !"

Be right there son.

    Morning Chris,

I'm worn out just reading about all the things you have to do! Still it makes the days go quicker and they all sound like such good fun - if only my life was as exciting ;)

Got blown to work this morning, but at least it wasn't raining as I wouldn't have stood a chance with a brolly in this weather.

In the office alone today, so like Deev I shall be dipping in and out for company.

Morning Lord Lambie Pies of Christopheville!

Busy Bunny few weeks for yous then!

The pilots for Brekkie - do they ever get aired? Or are they just for the BigWigs in the BigComfyChairs at HQ?

I'm 100% sure you will walk it, being the seasoned pro that you are, n'all.

2 more sleepages til me and 3 fellow bloggers head to Portland Place for a spot of fonage for Pudsey - hurrah, hurrah and thrice hurrah!

I've been practising, honest, and look tadally divine in me Pudsey ears. Any suggestions as to what to do with the bandana would be greatfully received tho!

So much going on Chris! I struggle with just keeping up with the boy - the demands for food just get worse btw.......every three hours my boy has to have something, usually a piece of fruit mind!!

Ooo I got some work to do, but like Deev will probably be done and bored by 10!

Time to put the radio on me thinks.

Beez, Too late - hat gone - whee! Have just had to change this as it wouldn't let me post my original word for a gust of wind blowing your person about!!

Ali, Deevs, me lonely in office this morning as usual. Have to go deliver stuff around estate so will tie myself down.

Never thought I could be anything like CLP but my diary this week is nearly as full.

today, work, book club, feed family, boy1 doing lighting desk for school production tonight so going to watch that.

tomorrow, work, dentist, take next Rafar Nadal to his lesson, feed family, get loads of stuff ready for Friday

Friday, ??? sure there's something going on but can't quite remember what. Think it may involve hugs!

Hold tight, & remember, if you take a small child out today, tie them on to a bit of string and, voila, instant kite!!

SBP - you are cappie too??? I check my stars daily and very appropriately these are todays....

    Daily Capricorn Horoscope - 18th November, 2009

The Moon and Mars energise two of your hidden zones today, reminding you that sometimes low key is enough. You may prefer to remain incognito and leave the spotlight to others. You'll get a lot done behind the scenes and will receive just acknowledgement for today's efforts at a later date. Physical energy is low too so you may find R n' R more beneficial than long hours in the office or at the gym. A lucky break around a money matter helps you make progress financially, especially if you're prepared to take a risk.

So, bunking off early today is allowed, I think that's what it means?! Hugs and hope your week improves.

Hello to everyone else and wow Chris, I thought my week was busy, but can't match that! Have fun!

Busy boy Christoph - keep you out of trouble no doubt. Any particular kind of mashed stuff for the little one? Someone mentioned buttery mashed spuds on fb last night. A must for today after my faux pas with the meal last night. doh.

Rips - eggy bread, loads of mushrooms and a sausage if you please and tommy sauce.

I was listening to the auction this morning - yikes - loadsa money for Gok. Pleased I couldn't afford it - not coming near me!

Laters children - post just arrived - stacks - oh joy.

  • Comment number 23.

    Hiya Chris,

Busy life, eh? Enjoy it all, that's what I say! I must say, that I have to eat my words over the CiN Auctions. Last year, I moaned quite a lot that the Auctions you and Terry conduct were unfair, because they are aimed at people with REAL money. However, listening to Terry this week, and looking forward to your Auction on Friday, I have to say I was wrong. You are both doing brilliant work and raising a fortune for a terrific cause. Consider me repentant! If I were minted, I would have paid whatever it took this morning to get the lunch with Terry, Maureen Lipman and Michael Palin!

Hi everyone else - hope all is ok.

    C xx

  • Comment number 24.

For those like me with more modest paypackets - there are items on ebay for CiN - can be located through the CiN webiste or search for CiN on ebay (hope beeb doesn't mind the advertsiing - its in a good cause)

I did bid on a motobike trip but was greatly outbid - but thinking about making a much higher bid and not telling the husband - what do you think?

    Me

PS - I got a bonus this year I wasn't expecting - I guess using it to help CiN is a gfood way of spending it???

  • Comment number 25.

    Baggy

You realise that you and me are going to have to put our music snobbery to one side on Friday, don't you. If someone rings up and asks for Angels or Rock DJ you won't be able to tell them your views on Robbie ....

Am really struggling to find the motivation to get anything done today. Could be because the rain woke me up at 5am, and I didn't get back to sleep :(

Had another "interesting" journey to work this morning. I'm sure that the lorry drivers have a competition to see how much spray they can chuck over us poor car drivers!

Missed the auction this morning, as it was just about to start as I arrived at work, so pleased it's going well, and raising loads of money! Was anyone else a bit put off by the "sleeping in the Eden Project bio-dome" offer on Monday? When I went there it was full of creepy crawlies....yeuch!

£26K for a makeover from Gok....they must be mad!!! Still, good on him 'cos it's all for a great cause!!!!!
If I'd won the euro-millions the other week I think I'd win just about everything...especially the chance to drive one of those fantastic cars owned by a well known Radio 2 DJ!
I was part way through packaging some bookcases ready for a 2pm collection, and thinking I might play in the mid-week medal later on if the weather cleared up, when I got a call from #2 son's high school...needed collecting...feeling sick with a temperature! I'd left Mum and #3 son asleep on the settee this morning, so I had to drop everything (not literally!) to collect. It appears that swine flu has deffo hit our area; apparently there are 20 from youngest son's class (out of 32) ill with the symptons....to me that sounds epademical proportions...oink oink!!!!! How much longer will me and #1 son hold out?!?!
Well, that's put paid to the golf!!!
    Gotta dash...bookcases still to parcel!!
Hope all you bloggers have a better day than mine's turning out!!

  • Comment number 33.

DF - your comments make me glad I had the swine flu injection last week (for medical reasons I promise - although all the oldies gave me evil looks when I was having mine).

  • Comment number 34.

    Baggy, me too, sounds foul!
Jumpybean has been hit by sommat nasty, whole family been struck down and baby jumpy appears to be hanging on to it, poor thing!
DF - hope you manage to keep it a bay

    Tiggs xxx

  • Comment number 35.

Chris, no wonder you've not slept so well with so much going on for you at the moment. Be careful to not overdo things though.

Sorry to hear about the swine flu DF - my experience is that it takes 3 days for the worst of it to pass. Plenty of fluids and temperature reducing medication. Hope you don't all go down with it though. Take care.

I've got up with something not so nice today, am fighting it off though at the moment. It can't be flu as I have had both jabs but I have definitely felt better!!! Still at work and smiling though.

Loved the funnies yesterday from CtD and Dr T - made me chuckle!

    How about this topical funny?

While walking down the street one day a Member of Parliament is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the MP.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules..'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the MP joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The MP reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I don't understand,' stammers the MP. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.

    What happened?'

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we were campaigning.. ..

    Today you voted.'

If one of us four get a blogger who says that - I will double that 50p to a £1 for that call.

I'm not sure how many lurkers there are but this is open to everyone - just blog when you have done it!

This could end up costing me a fortune - so I will cap at £100

Hope everyone understands the rules - its bloggers bingo :-)

Thanks for sending me a 'keep healthy' message Tiggs...I'm sure I will, it's just the 'better half' that puts it on so I have to pull my weight with the kids....can't believe I said that...well didn't actually say, but I typed that very very very quietly just in case she overheard :)
Loving all the jokes that crop up on these blogs!!
Is anyone watching The Restaurant....how on earth did James and JJ avoid being closed down?? JJ doesn't seem to want to cook, and James is as useful as a chocolate fireguard in front of house!! Good job I'm not a gambler...I'd have put my house on them getting the boot, not Frances and Lucy!?!?!
    Ah well...what do I know!!

DF - love, love, love The Restaurant. Those two do make me laugh tho - just pure pretty party boys without a clue!

Sarah Willingham kinda scares me. But in a good way.

I think they're doing local produce and game this week - should be funny!

Think we might have just upset one of our colleagues....

He asked me if we knew how to get a jam out of the printer, and one of the guys just replied "You don't want to put jam in it"!

Someone else eventually went to help him....as the whole office had erupted into giggles!

  • Comment number 98.

How the heck did Raymond end up with that shower of muppets though?

Honestly - at least in the previous years, most of them have had some basic knowledge of food.

And...while I'm at it why have they moved all of the restaurants from my neck of the woods to Brizzle?

I mean - who wants to go to Brizzle........*whistles innocently and awaits the backlash*
