Some days just knock you out - yesterday was such a day.

Chris Evans | 12:52 UK time, Friday, 11 December 2009

The Terry lunch thing was very emotional, much more than certainly I expected. When I left to go to the studios I really needed some fresh air.

To stand behind the guy who I used to listen to in my Mini on the way to work as a trolley boy at our local shopping centre, and then to meet him and work with him and now be sharing a stage with him as he takes a bow and says goodbye, was an extraordinary experience.

The rest of the day was somewhat of a haze to say the least, Tash said the show was one of the best she'd heard - honestly, I had no idea either way.

Last night I hosted a quiz for a friend's company do, very loud and over the top - just what I needed. One too many gin fizzes and I was back in game. Feel smashing today, although a little bleary eyed - which is a bit of an issue as I am just about to do a cover shoot for The Radio Times - eyedrops anyone !

Ah, Christohpe, I'm sure Sir Terry was feeling in a similar state. I wonder who he used to listen to in the mornings...I couldn't stand the fact that our mum made us have it on instead of R1...now all I have is nostalgia!

Anyhoo, regarding the photoshoot for the Radio Times, red eyes are exactly what air-brushing was invented for...plus knocking a bit off the hips and upper arms, but that might just be me...

I have one more day's holiday to take before we stop on 23rd for a fortnight, so I am going to take it next Friday so that I can hear all of Terry's last show, I think it will be fab and also a real tear jerker, I start work at 8, so only ever catch him between 7.30 and 8.

    Afternoon CLP,

Glad you are fine and dandy today.

I am having a bad mascara day, thanks to Mr Wogan. Heard him on the radio just after 8 this morning, offering his thanks for such a wonderful day yesterday. Then he played " All the love in the world" , which kinda finished me off . Tears streaming , mascara gone ..........

Looking forward to your new show.

    Afternoon Chris,

Great post, Sir Tel is certainly a National Treasurer and a Legend. When I set my alarm last Sunday night, I thought that there are only two weeks left of Terry now there is only one. Then of course it dawned on me who was taking over and all was well with the world.

I think next Friday might see me shed a few tears and I am really not an emotional person at all.

I hope you've got a relaxing weekend lined up.

    Ello Ter CLP & ALL,

    Bingo Star ere.....

CLP - Your title sums up 'ow a feel at the moment but be it in a different way!!!!
I didn't wanter bring the blog down with negative comments az the blog iz such a positive place & me meself am a very positive person!!!
But this is what makes me a target for the parasites of this world!!!
The negative, miserable people who see someone like me - 'appy, positive, trying ter get ahead in life and fulfil my full potential!!!!! They attack me!!!!! ATTACK!!!!!
You touch on this in your book about this CLP: the negative people who try ter drain the positivity out of your vain's az they are so negative themselves there's no 'ope for them stuck in their little worlds of misery!!!!
And sadly a lot of them get inter jobs that give them a bit of authority over others and they use this power to bully people!!!!
Sadly I have been going through this at work for the past 6 months and have kept it quiet from the blog!!!
A thought me new job waz brill at first & do like me job a lot but one parasite 'as taken a BIG dislike ter me!!!! (And by the way - nobody at work knows about Bingo Star - a keep it MEGA stum - otherwise a would become a target!!!!)
The final straw came yesterday of which a won't go inter details but sadly the things that 'appen to me are making me noot sleep well at night and ruin my clear mind & sense of well being!!!
Ruin my creative authority of..... THE MIND!!!!!!!
Terdee a wanter practise me guitar, go the gym, do me maths 'omework, write on the blog... but me mind 'urts through stress & a lack of sleep all after working 13/ 14 'our dees & being bullied at the same time!!!!!!
A might ave ter go ter see me accupunturist for avery long session ter release the tension in me forehead!!!!!!
Sometimes a feel like 'itting these people az a am a BIG bloke but that's just not me... am not violent at all!!!!!
That's for the school playground & even then violence shouldn't be accepted anywhere!!!!
If a wanted ter 'it people a would join a boxing club!!!!!
And why would a wanter get involved in violence and end up with a criminal record??? It's just not me - a wouldn't lower meself ter such low 'eights all because of some negative idiot using their authority over me at work ter bully me!!!!
So a try ter sort it out the correct/ diplomatic way - a see me manager - put a complaint in about the situation and nothing gets done..... except the bullying intensifies az a result!!!!!!
Slowly these 'orrible people as much as yer might try ter resist them, they do use their authority over you to penetrate your life & ruin parts of your life!!
Last night I got 'ome & just felt drained after working two days of long shifts & being bullied at the same time.
I've writted bits of a song to do with this from a similar past experience of 'parasite power trippers' az a call them!!!!!
Robbie Williams a few years ago did a great song about this too.... Called 'Tripping!!!' (a great song ter dig out for yer show playlist CLP man) It's about people attacking you, abusing their power & trying ter resist becoming violent!!!!! One of me fav Robbie tunes.... MEGA bridge in it!!!!!!!
Any way by coincidence last night I opened my guitar case just ter practice my guitar for 20 mins & amongst all the papers I 'ave from the guitar class, I used ter go too, waz a song that a waz given but ave noot 'ad a chance ter learn ter play yet.... and WHATTA COINCIDENCE.... it sums up similar ter the song ave written and what am going through!!!!!!!
And do yer know what...... it just brings back ter me, just 'ow much.... makes me realise 'ow much a must not ever accept that I will one dee end up a broken person in the nasty state that these negative people are!!!!!!
A tell meself am am so much better than them & will never rise ter their negativity!!!!!!
I realise that I should keep my faith, my dream of music, of show bizz, of trying ter get out my talents I know I ave deep inside me & that what makes me a magnet, a target ter these 'oribble people!!!!!!
And der yer know what does make me realise this....... music itself!!!!!!

And ere iz the song below that 'elps make me realise this & sums up exactly 'ow a felt last neet & brought a tear ter me eye....... Only a very small tear though!!!!!!!

'Why Worry' written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits >>>>>>

Baby.... I see this world has made you sad.......

    Some people can be bad......

The things they do, the tings they say.

But baby.... i'll wipe away those bitter tears....

I'll chase away those restless fears.

That turn your blue skies into grey.......

    CHORUS:

Why worry..... There should be laughter after pain.......

There should be sunshine after rain......

These things have always been the same......

So why worry now?????........... Why worry now??????

Baby...... when I get down I turn to you.........

And you make sense of what I do.....

I know it isn't hard to say.......

But Baby.... just when this world seems mean and cold.......

Our love comes shining red and gold.....

And the rest is by the way!!!!!

Then the CHORUS AGAIN!!!!!! Yes again blog friends!!!!!

Plus ere it iz on the YouTube if any wanter peek..... of the emotive sound of The Knopflier Dude!!!!! Sorry Kopfler!!!!!

So for my ARF CLP - It's gotta be Why Worry, the acoustic version, by Dire Straits!!!!!!!
And if yer can't do it terdee, sneak it in next week's playlist..... an awesome beautiful Dire Straits tune!!!!
It'll enhance yer show & yer don't even 'ave ter say it waz from me!!!!!

PPS On a 'appy final note - CLP can a just say yer a VERY, VERY nice bloke ter include the extra bloggers ter the BIG Drivetime Farewell Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A waz worried there might be a few very sad nice bloggies out there but all iz ok!!!!!
Az it will be with me personal life!!!!!

Play hunt the desk/office/building only to find out that someone else picked up letter as they could hand deliver it this afternoon - collared signator in the corridor and got them to sign it 10 minutes ago!

    Hi everyone, hope you're well?

It must have been such a great lunch yesterday for Sir Tel. One of my earliest memories is sitting in my high chair in the kitchen with radio 2 on in the background. I really have grown up with Radio 2 (apart from a few teenage years dallying with Radio 1), will miss the Togmeister in the mornings but really looking forward to waking up with CLP!

Hope everyone's had a great Friday, sooo foggy here in Edinburgh, stay safe anyone who has to go out driving in it tonight.

    Am feeling your need JG!

I have a horrible feeling I have agreed to go on holiday with my parents in law & one day, when we meet & have a lot of wine & a lot of time, I'll tell you why that might not be a good idea!

Bingo, BIG HUGS!! Others have said it better than me, but you are definitely the better man for not reacting and sinking to their level. Keep blogging and keep your dreams alive too. I love those lyrics and now that I've downloaded SILVER BELLS - thanks for the link Hellen Bach - I'm off to find that song too.

Sounds like the blogging anticipation is still building towards the 23rd, it'll be fab. But will anyone burst with excitement beforehand??

Sorry I can't keep up with all the 'appenings during the day, I can't blog at work - I sit next to my boss and her boss nowadays so it's a bit obvious... Screenwipe moments courtesy of Beez, Bingo, Clodagh and so many others would not do much for my cred - I'm the sensible one in t'office, heaven help 'em!

But I'm home now and wondering whether to go red or white with the quiche that's heating up even as I type... I need to go out early tomorrow, so maybe the answer is a small-ish, dry white.

Whatever you choose, cheers and hugs to one and all!

    Ann xxx

PS Beez - do we feel a campaign coming on for 'DSMN' for the final ARF?? That is a front-runner, but I'm guessing there are a few more that we'd be more than happy to hear...

  • Comment number 96.

Seza - yes please still to Sunday - really looking forward to it!

Annie O - I have the same thing - sit in a really small project office Mon & Tue but am OK for the rest of the week, sometimes when this lot are on fire takes an age to catch up just 2 days!

MC - just about to put 'a pie' in the oven for me tea - yum yum yum

Was gonna cook - but after all tree dressing round 1 - more tomorrow and card writage (all done!) decided easy option and glass of wine was betterer option!

right - having been up at silly o clock - I might not last the course so excuse me know sorry now if I dont re-appear!

    have fun you lot!

Gingembre, if your train stops at Stratford, you're best placed getting off there for the 02. Head for the Jubilee Line - it's 4 stops (or 6 minutes to be precise)- North Greenwich.

From Liverpool Street you will need to link with the Jubilee Line and change trains and stuff. Ugh!

I'm going to look for a red Santa cowgirl hat tomorrow. No guarantees it'll make it to "la bash" as we're out on "la lash" tomorrow pm so it may well get its first Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw of the season soon after it's procurement!

    Ha!

Reet, I her a bottle of Pinot Grigio DEMANDING to be opened, and the pizza man (not the candyman!) is due as Corrie comes on.

Quickstep and sidekick, with a fleckle!

If anyone can't make 23rd or needs someone to carry their bags shout up. I'm actually child-free that day and have annual leave. How good is that? DS is away until Boxing Day as it's his Dad's turn to have him Christmas Day this year. Means I get him New Year's Eve though so not all bad :-)
